Hi Ruthann, I recently found you on UA-cam and I sincerely love watching you and your family! My grandmother was raised conservative Brethren in Christ (came for Mennonite background). I was raised on a dairy farm in PA and I miss that life so much! One of the things I especially LOVE about your channel is that you and your family LIVE while filming. You don’t edit out the kids when they walk thru or when they’re heading to bed. Please don’t ever change that, it’s part of draw to your content; at least for me! It’s real life and I love that! Thank you so much for inviting us into your home and life, sharing your experiences, thoughts and ideas. It is so very appreciated ❤ Be blessed! God is so Good!
I was so upset the other day when you mentioned that someone said you were uneducated. The next time you can tell them you have a masters degree in Culinary Arts, Gardening, Canning, Baking and Farming! I admire your principles, lifestyle and home so very much. I believe it is the true way that God designed and wanted us to live. I didnt want to mention that negativity again but i was sitting here watching you and looking at all you do and can do and then I saw your beautiful flowers they are gorgeous and I havent found the right words for the garden. It is immaculate. Your education goes bwyond books and a classroom and I say thats one of the best kind! Thanks fornyour videos and God bless!
I have not read other comments, yours made my jaws drop. How can anyone say something so negative? I love watching the Zimmermans. Whoever said something negative about this family should be ashamed.
I have used many of her recipes and have never had a problem.
Keep doing what makes you happy.
@@mkfurr60 Amen I agree with you totally. It wasn't this post but she told about it in a different post and the more I watch them the more it upsets me that someone could make such derogatory comments. Little did they know they were just thoughtless and uneducated themselves because she has Ioads of knowledge!
I love that your kids aren't ashamed to show you affection on camera! Your filming doesn't stop your everyday activities which is great!
😍😍
@Ruthannzimm
Can you post a video to make Sourdough Starter please?
My boys would ell me since they were little, they love me more than spaghetti...that's worth everything! 😊
That’s awesome.
@@Ruthannzimm Thanks, really enjoy your family channel. I did see a post if you use vinegar for pickles, some brands are doing only 4% acidity not 5%. They will spoil. Just hoping you share that information. Thanks again.
I used to love when my children would say, “I like you, Momma.” It was so genuine.
@@clarioncall8449 Yes they are sweet. They love unconditionally.
These videos makes me homesick ; my mom was a baker and cook raise 18 children and she wrote a book about her tiny farm where Dad and her raised pigs, chickens, and canning our food . I found out that she had a Pennsylvania Dutch heritage were Mennonites. I’m 73 and long to be up North in summer.❤
The virtuous woman works willingly with her hands. So nice to see, and thank you for your helpful videos!
Your videos are a big hug from the Lord for me. I’m retired living an entirely different life on the lake now that my 3 boys are grown. However, I still love to bake bread and make a delicious meal for my husband every day. Thank you for the step by step for this recipe. You make sourdough a little less daunting for me. ❤
You are so welcome
Watching you brings me back to my childhood when I lived on a dairy farm. There were 6 of us and my mom’s cooking was and still is amazingly with all the fresh vegetables. You have a beautiful family and home.
Ruthann, I had a bread baking breakthrough today because of this video. I had to find it in my history and come tell you. I didn’t use this recipe, but I TEMPED MY BREAD and it changed everything. I took it out of the oven at like 195 degrees, a full 20 minutes before I usually take it out, and it. Is. Amazing. Who knew I was overcooking my bread by 20 minutes. It wasn’t burned, but it was very hard.. now I know! I will do this forever! (When I was on Instagram, I followed you, but have since quit and I’m so happy to find you here. And now my family will be too with this soft bread. 😂)
I made a double batch of miss Kate's bread yesterday, and made hamburger buns with half. Everything turned out fabulous!
I LOVE that you're teaching your kids the skills you learned growing up in a very traditional culture. So cool!!!
There is eternal value in the love of making it for your family ❤️
When my family lived up in Alaska in the late 80’s & early 90’s…we received a sourdough starter from a friend…we made many loaves of bread in the cold winter days. I don’t recall making bread in the short summer days …may God keep you & your family in His care! Be well & keep safe.🍞👍🏻
WOW...Big happy genuine American family. I thought all is lost of true American way of living ..so happy to see this. Those breads look amazing. Subscribed.
One of my fondest memories from childhood was coming home from school and getting a delicious whiff of Mom’s homemade bread as I walked into the kitchen. Best part was a warm slice of that deliciousness with butter and jam. Yum. Bread-making may not have an eternal value, but it creates happy memories for your children! Just recently found you and I love, love, love your channel! ❤️
Cannot wait to try this recipe. Those loaves are beautiful.
You are an amazing mother, smart and a great cook and teacher. I love the bread making. I wish i could get my grown children and grandchildren to be as active and helpful around the house as yours are. GBU.
You can get the grandchildren involved in whatever u do by making it a game for them.and start young so it becomes a way of life for them.and hey ask your grown children for help!!!
I LOVE when you include conversations with your children in your videos. Your oldest (at home) reminds me of my oldest, who is younger. Only, my oldest would have complained more about needing to put each chicken in by hand. 😂
Your boys are so sweet! Love the bedtime hug interaction. And I can't wait to get a sourdough started going again. This looks so yummy!
Yes, a family to be admired.
Thank you for your kind words!!! And yes the chickens are so rebellious right now!! 😅
@@Ruthannzimm Ours are, too! They just want to be outside. We put ours to bed each night, but our dog helps the kids so it's a bit easier.
@@shirley7137yes, truly! I have learned so much from her videos. Also, after watching her interactions with her children, I try to be a much better mom to my kiddos. Our lives have improved!
Hello to you and your entire family, I really enjoy watching your channel. The kids are such wonderful helpers. You're an Amazing mother, wife and homesteader. I want your energy.
You have a beautiful family and home. Living in a farm like yours is my dream home. Thank you for showing the timeline of sourdough bread making ❤
“There is no eternal value in homemade bread!” Oh, but there is so much earthly value. Love it that you allow us to see life as it happens on the farm. Many blessings!
God bless you!!!
Yes, loved that comment!
The eternal value will come from the children who will always remember mom’s great recipe’s beyond her years on this earth!
Love watching your family helping. I am 77 and that’s what we were taught. Thanks
Thank you - you simplified the process for me. Lots of very firm opinions on how sourdough should be done mixed with lots of conflict. ❤️😁🌹
I enjoy watching you because you are such a happy person and your love of God and your family shines through. Thank you. I live in Louisiana and have just started making sourdough bread. I know there is no eternal value in making homemade bread but it is so much fun and joy when it turns out beautiful and tastes good.
YOU ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL TEACHER. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING AND TELLING THE SMALL DETAILS. I WOULD NEVER EVEN TRY RECIPS BECAUSE I WOULD GET TO A POINT AND WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT IT MENT IN THE REIPE.
Thank you Ruthann! This is a lovely recipe and my loaves turned out beautifully. Best Sourdough loaves I have ever made. So love watching your channel, you are amazing ❤
I love the great way you share information and explain things with your kind smile and demeanor!
Thank you for your ending comment to remember that of we can't fit homemade bread into our current life that it's okay because there is no eternal value there ❤️
Agreed!!!! Thank you for reminding us of that!
What a beautiful home you have . From the homemade bread to the garden to the children working together. I have started making my own bread and ran across your video, I will be staying tuned to see what else I can learn from you. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
How do you make the starter?
I have to admire you on all you do in your home and seemingly so effortlessly. I think that you may have an element of Superwoman somewhere in your genes. Keep making videos and sharing your systems and ideas Good Lady. By the way ... if I ended up with a washing line full of items like you have I think I would run away from home! 😂
I can’t wait to try this recipe! Thank you!
I love your channel! Thank you!!
What a beautiful garden!
LOL I love your measuring methods!!
What a FABULOUS garden!!!
Love your garden❤❤
Beautiful yard & garden
Looks so good!! Thanks always for sharing!
I figured it out ! Yay! I absolutely love your videos !!!!
I just baked my first bread using your recipe and it was so good my family loved it! One thing I have to change is the amount of liquid when using bread flour is not the same. I had to add so much more flour to get the right consistency but still, it is the most flavorful bread I have ever made. Thank you for sharing!
Thank You Ruthanne!
Your gardens and flower beds are gorgeous!
You are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
I love watching and learning from your videos, thank you 💕
Great looking bread and sandwiches!!
Beautiful garden and family life. Thank you for teaching!
Thank you for sharing! I love the wholesomeness of your family ❤️
Looks so beautiful!! Can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you!
Beautiful 🍞! Thank you for some helpful tips🙏♥️
Beautiful dough
Love your channel!
The boys stopping to give you kisses brought happy tears to my eyes. My son just turned 12 and still gives me kisses. I’m going to miss these days very soon. My daughter is 19 and is away in the Air Force so I’m missing when she was little too! Time goes by so fast! 🥲
That was really sweet 😊
What a lovely family and life!
This bread looks super delicious and moist
Loved your bread tutorial, and the garden is beautiful 😊
Thanks for another great video! Those sandwiches look delicious!
Lovely garden!
I’m waiting to try your sourdough recipe until fall but I’m excited to try. We don’t eat a lot of bread but we do love sourdough. Thank you for inviting us into your life.❤ Shalom…your yard and Garden are Beautiful..all your hard word has paid off into a peaceful place to spend your morning coffee.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks a million love
Would LOVE to see more of your recipes!!
With certain breads I make, I do them by feel as you do, because they're so familiar. But because I don't rely on measuring, I do find on rare occasion maybe I got too cocky, and it doesn't turn out as well as usual! 😁 Thanks for the great technique here.
I so love EVErything you do!!! You are a fantastic Teacher.
Your garden is just beautiful - a joy to behold ❤
Your bread looks so delicious.
The garden is amazing too xx
I SO enjoy your videos!! I am not new to baking, gardening, or preserving, but I learn new things with each video. What I know, I learned by trial and error. In many ways, I almost envy you for your upbringing and teachings from your mother and grandmother. It took me a while to learn how dough should look or feel when it is right, or to figure out more efficient ways to do things. I have had sourdough starters in the past, but ended up neglecting it and letting it die. I am inspired to make another starter and try again. Your garden looks green and beautiful and your flower beds are just lovely!
Thank you!!!
I think your story (and mine) could be repeated thousands of times. Our grandmothers and mothers left the hard work of home for the somewhat less stressful/hard work of offices and stores. (True for me anyway!) So, now we are behind. I’m 53 and have been baking bread for 20+ years but I just learned how to knead my dough for myself and know when to stop and set it to rest!
@@meredithmcgrew1157 yes! I am in my 60’s and have been baking bread off and on over the last 20-30 years ( including my first scattered attempts… LOL), but I’d say that I’ve only gotten pretty consistently good results over the last 6-7 years, and improving a little each time. To my knowledge, Neither my mother or grandmother baked anything with yeast.. cornbread being mostly the bread they made. They were both great cooks, though.
I am happy that I’ve become consistent with my baking, but sad that it has taken me so late in life to become proficient with baking. I still struggle with handling pie dough.. my pies are good, but often patchy!! LOL
How do I get a starter started
That bread & sandwich looked so delicious.
Thank you for sharing; have a blessed week.
Delicious looking bread!
Bread is life to me!
Awwww so sweet giving momma kisses.
I could watch your videos all day!

Your plants are gorgeous.

Thank you for showing us
Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you dear for sharing. Blessings
Those sandwiches look amazing. I’m giving it a try.
Ive just returned to say that I have been trialing quite a few sourdough recipes lately when I saw yours and gave it a try. I dont have a mixer so I did it by hand. Honestly it is absolutely amazing!! Taste texture, everything. I chose to have a crusty loaf so didnt butter the top. No more searching for the perfect recipe, yours is the bomb 🎉🎉 Thankyou so much for sharing ❤
Beautiful Gardens
