What a treat! Just makes me smile. The band is great and Rachael is on top of her game and seems to be having a ball. I like Lake Street Dive a lot, but I probably like Rachael singing jazz and standards even more.
While always there on time, in tune. Rachel positively vibrates with expectation at keeping up with the sounds she hears. It's like watching programed strobe lights.
Saw them in concert last week, bassist Bridget Kearney described it as a vocal firework display, every song. I like your description as well, the most dynamic female vocalist I have ever seen live and I have been to a few rodeos in 65 years. bogeysbeat.blogspot.com/2018/05/come-on-in-waters-fine-lake-street-dive.html
I know this song from the movie, 'The Whole Nine Yards' sung by the biddles trio. It has a great jazz soundtrack and the movie introduced me to Mose Allison!
They all laughed at Christopher Columbus When he said, the world was round They all laughed when Edison recorded sound They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother When they said that man could fly They told Marconi Wireless was a phony It's the same old cry They laughed at me wantin' you Said, I was reaching for the moon But oh, you came through Now they'll have to change their tune They all said we never could be happy They laughed at us and how But ho, ho, ho Who's got the last laugh now They all laughed at Rockefeller Center Now they're fighting to get in They all laughed at Whitney and his cotton gin They all laughed at Fulton and his steamboat Hershey and his chocolate bar Ford and his Lizzie Kept the laughers busy That's how people are They laughed at me wanting you Said, it would be, hello, goodbye But oh, you came through Now they're eating humble pie They all said we'd never get together Darling, let's take a bow For ho, ho, ho Who's got the last laugh Ha, ha, ha Let's at the last laugh Ho, ho, ho Who's got the last laugh now
Love It! The ancient Greeks knew the earth was round. Christopher Columbus was way off on his estimate of the size of the world. He was so lucky Queen Isabella was willing to fund his ill conceived voyage.
If you had told this guy back in the 70’s that I’d be listening to the music of my parents, and loving it, yeah, I would have laughed at you for being silly. But a funny thing happened on the musical journey of my life..... I still love the Stones, Zeppelin, The Who, Bowie & a ton of other classic rock acts. However, as I’ve aged, I found that there is an entire catalog of Blues, Jazz, Americana, Alt-Country and even a few current rock acts that deliver the goods to music slaves like me. Rachael Price is as talented a vocalist as there is in music today - regardless of genre. Rhiannon Giddens is another talented musician who can play multiple instruments and sing anything from Gaelic folk songs to R&B. There are always great musicians in every era who fly under the radar or you missed out on them when they were popular in the past. In this age, with the ability to see or hear any music you desire at your fingertips, don’t be afraid to explore..... you’ll eventually find out that what may have been fingernails on the blackboard in the past now has a certain appeal, or a new artist who gives you hope for the future of the industry.
been waiting for this voice all my life of 80 years
I'm totally in love with Ms Price.
Anyone with sense is.
Me to
Love this perfect jazz interpretation of an old tune!!! Perfect ! Thank you so much!!!

When I first heard her with Lake Street Dive I could hear singing Soul and Jazz like this. Wow!
She had two jazz albums before LSD's self-title came out.
I adore this kind of music so much, and this band + this singer + this song is a complete win. Also, I'd love to own that dress, haha.
Major talent.............!
What a great performance. Loved it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
I like her a lot.
I would have loved to have a front row seat at this show. She is amazing!
My words exactly
Timeless Beauty
Ooooh Myyyy Godddd !
She so has the voice for jazz
What a beautiful flower
Great Rachael 🎤👍🏻
While always there on time, in tune.

Jack DeTate - Her name is spelled Rachael.
Gotta love the missed high five. Oh, yeah, and every single other thing about this too
yes!
I know this song from the movie, 'The Whole Nine Yards' sung by the biddles trio. It has a great jazz soundtrack and the movie introduced me to Mose Allison!
Herrlich! Rachael swingt was das Zeug hält, die Band ebenso. Hätte nie gedacht, dass eine Popsängerin so viel Jazzblut hat!
So good... I can't stop listening :) thank you!
And watching ;)
I wish she'd sing 'Sunny Side of the Street'.
I listened to many versions, she is the best by far, sorry Ella
It’s a nice, fun version, but I disagree.
And I’m sure that Rachael would disagree with you too.
MAGNIFIQUE PRICE $$$$$$$$$$ !
I believe this is the Gershwin song sung by Ginger Rogers in the Rogers/Astaire movie "Swingtime ," considered their best of 10 movies.
It was "Shall We Dance," not "Swing Time."
I think she just might have sung some jazz before.
Check Rachel Price & the Tennessee Terraplanes!
I mean, she sang beside of Thelonious Monk's son...
She majored in jazz vocal at NEC of Music. She stated she wanted to be Ella Fitzgerald. Now Lake Street Dive's lead.
Ya think? :-)
Home run.
She’s in yellow. Everyone else is in black or gray or brown. Yes. That is the deal. One of them is the star. Only one. Everyone else is supporting. 😅
She is so good. Is she still with Lake Street Dive or on her own now?
She's on her own with Vilray performing Jazz as well as still with Lake Street Dive
They all laughed at Christopher Columbus
When he said, the world was round
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound
They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother
When they said that man could fly
They told Marconi
Wireless was a phony
It's the same old cry
They laughed at me wantin' you
Said, I was reaching for the moon
But oh, you came through
Now they'll have to change their tune
They all said we never could be happy
They laughed at us and how
But ho, ho, ho
Who's got the last laugh now
They all laughed at Rockefeller Center
Now they're fighting to get in
They all laughed at Whitney and his cotton gin
They all laughed at Fulton and his steamboat
Hershey and his chocolate bar
Ford and his Lizzie
Kept the laughers busy
That's how people are
They laughed at me wanting you
Said, it would be, hello, goodbye
But oh, you came through
Now they're eating humble pie
They all said we'd never get together
Darling, let's take a bow
For ho, ho, ho
Who's got the last laugh
Ha, ha, ha
Let's at the last laugh
Ho, ho, ho
Who's got the last laugh now
I do wish she'd record more standards.
Check out Rachael and Vilray
Check out her solo album called The Good Hours
still laughing at colombus

Bruh, it's a song from a musical. Just appreciate it and realize the incorrect history is also something interesting to study from history.
god, jazz is the worst.. whens it gonna fall off into history
Jazz is such a unique genre that I doubt it'd ever completely die.

It'll be around longer than jerkoffs who watch jazz videos and then comment that they hate jazz
