Toby Fox and Omocat are both masters of bittersweet storytelling. They always captivate the audience with their charming characters and then introduce some great tragedy and strife into their lives. It's no wonder that a collaboration between them would be such an emotional rollercoaster.

@@vladlenvolkov9034 You may argue that OMOCAT (who is not a "he") may have had trouble with pacing in OMORI (I don't disagree there), but I don't think that subtracts any value from the bittersweetness of the storytelling and how much she is a master at it as well. Yes, different opinions can exist on that, definitely, but I would personally just disagree with you here on the notion that the pacing issues of OMORI make OMOCAT "not too good at telling a story", especially considering how many parts of these hours are a) optional, and b) a deep dive into love for detail and exploration for those who like that.

I'd never heard of this song even being a fan of every person involved in its creation, what a treat. Omocat's visuals bring that clear DW/DQ inspiration, while musically it sounds like Toby is also bringing in some of his love for Earthbound and other more modern JRPGs for the song itself, some Polyanna vibes from the vocal track. The two styles present together beautifully. Thanks for doing another of these, and I'd always look forward to more!

It's even sadder when you take a deeper look at the lyrics! Despite being an NPC, The player's companion was sentient enough to get attached to and grow a bond with him. He gave her her happiest memories and, needless to say, now that the batteries of the RAM his save file is stored into are slowly running out of power, she's really upset. But she doesn't just stand here and accept it, she fights her own system to try and tell the player her feelings toward him before they will very likely go our seperate ways and who knows if she succeeded? Who knows if he saw or understood her words? It's not like a text bar appeared when she said "I love you". For all we know, her plan could have failed (Maybe it's because OMOCAT and LLC. just didn't want to put it and they weren't trying to imply that, but that's how I interpreted the second half as).
Whether she expressed how much he means to her or not though, the Game Boy eventually shuts down, exhibiting how their days together are over. As someone said in the comments of the music video: a game doesn’t end when you beat the final boss, it ends when you forget about it.

I relate to this on a personal level. I grew up with a Gameboy and played the Ducktales game over and over on it. However, this favorite game over time faded to newer, more interesting titles, and after returning for the first time in years, I just couldn't capture that same feeling. However, the save deleted after the battery ran out. I lost a part of me that I dont remember anymore. Change is inevitable, and we will eventually forget things that we love or enjoy. This song hit me where it hurts the most, and i hate and love it for that. I will never forget how much Ducktales made me feel, but it no longer brings me to the same level of joy and elation it used to. It hurts so much. 😢

Of course, this also means that the hardware has aged by just as many years. As someone on the original video pointed out, this includes the save battery. See, old cartridge games up until early in the GBA era used battery-powered RAM chips to store their save data. The reason for the battery is because RAM physically cannot hold data unless it's being powered at all times. The power draw of the chip is low enough that these watch batteries generally last a decade or two, which is a long time - but that isn't forever. Sooner or later, the battery will bottom out, and the cartridge will thus lose the ability to hold any save data until and unless the battery's replaced.

Can you explains pls? In my opiniom Undertale is a mediocre game that only knows how to trick the player to feel what the game wants them to feel and an amazing soundtrack, I had several problems with all the other aspects of the game. Omocat imo made a more full and consistent game (with pacing problmes have to admit but overall really good). So at least for me, yeah they are way more apart
