Fun fact: My Time wasn't composed for Omori, it's just an extremely good and fitting song made by a British musician bo en, which was used in the first trailer for Omori (2014!), and then later in-game. The Omori version of the song is slightly sped-up/pitched-up to be even cuter sounding. bo en later actually composed a few original tracks for the game though, and they're bangers!

Oh I had chills in the whole OMORI part, almost cried ! Gorgeous improv there.
What you said at 19:45 was EXTREMELY ON POINT. It's not confirmed by the composer, but it's widely believed some of the sounds used here are meant to be voices in distorted memories, a traumatic memory to be precise. Which would be why some of the sounds suddenly peak and growl, as some of them are shouts, argument, screams... and thuds.
Obviously I'm not gonna spoil what this is, but if you want a little bit of context, imagine someone repressing trauma and it comes back all at once, and you have only 2 options : stand down and give into it, or grow to move forwards with it. It's going to be excruciating to fight back the urge to give up and to face everything you've been fearing so much you needed to bury it. And that's where the dread, panic and anguish of those crazy sounds come in.
This video does much better with the cuts by the way ! I don't mind it being longer at all, this is great !

    • @colony30sshittyproudbanner
      @colony30sshittyproudbanner Рік тому +30

Yeah, the memory part seems right on. Plus it amplifies the past experience by a lot and (spoiler warning)
It's almost like the distorted part is Omori trying to fight against Sunny, who is the violin. The violin is constantly throughout, but the distortion is obviously trying to overpower and throw off with it's violent and alien-esq noises

Your analyses and impromptu accompaniments are an absolute joy to watch! The chord progression in See You Tomorrow is an absolute work of art.
It Means Everything hits hard, and although you haven't reacted to it, By Your Side is probably my favorite piece - the vibe of it shifts every time you hear it, I swear.

"anxiety". +40, that's also what I thought. The image that always comes to my head is that deranged head-tilt that anime villains do when extremely mad, with a weapon hanging to their side :)
10:34 Yooooo! I didn't know that! I'll be sure to update the databases when I get access
13:32 That explanation works in like 9 different levels for the part where this plays but I dare not say a single thing further on it, not even beyond a spoiler tag. If you know, you know.
15:44 Fun fact, the blurry fence in the background there is the game's title
17:50 Even more relevant in ways unexplainable without major spoilers. I love when composers deduce such from music, especially with Omori and Undertale
21:11 This composer made 4 tracks for the project. This is the first song that anyone ever heard for the game, and was the music for the first trailer, which lacked almost all spoilers. In that trailer, everything from the first Oyasumi to the second Oyasumi segment is cut, which kinda destroys the song. Otherwise an amazing piece. also, the composer confirmed that this song (from his album Pale Machine) is about

Sleep. In my interpretation, that feeling you get when you are on your phone at night hating yourself for not going to sleep this instant so you can work tomorrow :). Sick video
    21:48 "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 minutes." + "There's nothing I want more than to sleep. But the world won't allow it/But I can't, it's words" idk which of the two
22:10 "Have, a, good, night" or "Go, now, to, sleep". Ever notice how it's much easier to translate japanese songs into Spanish than it is to translate them to english? The syllabics (I think that's how it's called) fit much better. "Bue-nas, no-ches"
22:50 That can translate to "nothing to be done about it", but here "So be it/No matter" fits better. Easier in spanish
23:03 Wait up it gets Venice-like.

It's a very common theory that in omori:alter that you can hear voices in the music distortion saying things like: "stop it" "Help" and that in certain parts the drumbeat sounds like sobbing and gasping.

Yessss you listened to OMORI, thanks for doing that!!! OMORI is easily the best song in the entire game, its hits you so hard and just completely shatters your soul. I have other songs I like better than OMORI, but one thing I can say for sure, OMORI is the most emotional piece I have ever heard in my entire life, and as someone who has played instruments since I was 6 for 11 years now, that means something. Also, I count OMORI - ALTER as just and add on to OMORI, and I can say with 100% certainty I have never heard anything like that ending, those harsh, angry, glitchy effects that completely contrast the melancholic violins and violas in the background. Truly the best song I have ever heard, not my favorite, but 100% the best.
    Oh ya, also 🎻

To me the disortion in the “omori” track is the “ennemy’s” regret, despair and pain of losing everything (the enemy being immaterial, one yet everything and everywhere, cherished yet painful)

I really loved your previous reaction to the series' soundtrack, and this was really fun, too! Given your lack of context for the tracks themselves, some of your insights on them are surprisingly refreshing (and some a bit too close to the truth), and others obviously not so much, but that's okay lol. We welcome it. 🙏
I wanted to include a fun little fact about My Time and the violin, but I felt it might be edging too close to spoiler territory, so I'll hold off. 😅
I do hope you have the opportunity to play this game someday for yourself, it's truly a gem.

When I heard you play along with the ost OMORI, I instantly thought of it as a counter. How it is the cry, the opposing force that fights back the negativity of the battle against OMORI in the game itself. I just imagine it being how when Sunny uses the skill Cherish, and remembering the words of his friends, he fights back. He gets the courage to overpower OMORI and realizes that there's a reason to keep going, there is a reason to live. I'd definitely would love to see a cover with the soundtrack! You play beautifully. 💕

Fun thing is, many believe that it may actually be an extremely distorted audio track hidden beneath all the distorted percussion.
I won’t spoil what people theorize the audio is of, but it’s so much more heartbreaking and meaningful if it really is what many theorize.

Omori has hands-down my favorite soundtrack in any video game. The level of emotion in it, even the little less-important more ambient tracks created a level of immersion that made the emotional beats and the climax of the game resonate in such visceral ways.
The "omori" track and it's alternate gives me chills every time and brings me back to exactly the moment I first played the battle it is in.
    Anyways time to go cry
