If I had one I'd get it painted military green and it will look like some type of badass military looking vehicle. I will literally make that thing look mean, aggressive, and scary. Other than that, I really don't see the point in having one. They're not really hot. I never even heard of them until today. If I were going to get one, it will have to be customized.
If it wasn´t a shitty engine everyone will love it.. Plagued with multiple serious issues its one of the worst engines ever made by GM.. An LS would be much MUCH Better.
Ian Thompson The issues are with these years too look it up in the forums.. Broken blocks, warped heads, gasket leaks you name it.. A Northstar (any) that will go more than 100K its a miracle.
+1. I love a "folded paper" design with crisp lines. Other than a minor change to the taillights, I don't think I could sketch a more respectable design - Sandy
cts-v coupe is nice.. but nothing compared to the XLR. I think they should have kept the XLR and still made the CTS. Two different styles for two different types of people. When I ever decide to trade my XLR in, and I wanna stick with Cadillac... Im kinda stuck with CTS.
.....dude, they're worth a lot now. I just got done looking at an 06 one just like this at a dealership in Illinois. Engine 4L NA V8 double overhead. Transmission 5 speed automaticc. North Star 320 HP(238.7KW). @ 6400 rpm..... RWD with 53,730 miles for$22,222 they claim that amount is the "live market price" but honestly I think they're crazy. No bank will finance that thing so it's just going to sit. And no one is going to pay that much straight off the lot. I had never even heard of these cars before until I seen it today.
I think they are pretty cheap for what your getting. I've seen a few under 15k. They are pretty unique, rare and fairly quick for for 15k. They also are pretty loaded with options too. I've been looking for an STS-V and now I'm having a hard time deciding on the Xlr-V or the even more rare Sts-V. They both have the same engine and are rare as hell.
@@ziptiejedi5658 I have an 07 STS-V and I got my eyes on an XLR-V so I can have both. The one I just saw yesterday is $37k probably going to have to put at least $10k down to finance the thing.
@@TheHitman- John Davis doesn't lie and check your facts before posting. This engine IS INDEED a Northstar LC3 4.4L. The bore was reduced for better head gasket sealing and static compression dropped to 9:1 for Supercharging. You may be confused about the CTS-V, some which which used the LS6 Engine. - Sandy
Well Cadillac had the Northstar and they had to throw it into a few cars due to amortization of development costs. Even some Buick And Aurora (Oldsmobile) got northstar. This is a Nothrstar engine, see my comment to The Hit (or miss ) man below. - Sandy
@@TheHitman- people swap them it’s a common swap to put a ls in them but they come with a north star I have to make the argument every time I bring this car up
i love the XLR easily my favorite car im so disapointed that it got discontinued to be replaced by the cts-v coupe but cadillac has been making amazing cars for a hundred years so im sure it will be just as good
Great car. Had a certain character, a presence if you will. Fewer and fewer do today, everything looks too alike, every car in every segment tries to be everything at once and companies make their models look all too similar over the different segments.
I want one of these so bad. Add cat delete pipes and cruise around with the exhaust vavles open. If I blew the engine up, I'd swap the ZR1 drivetrain into it and party.
Put the Z08 engine into it. I was told by an enthusiast who knows his stuff that the ZR1 is basically for people who want to pose. The Z08 package is bought by people who are serious about doing trackdays and generally driving to the absolute edge of the car's potential
I think it needs to be just like this, Corvette chassis with a slightly softer ride, fixed hardtop option or make the 'vert optional, give it updated smooth yet sharp styling, both auto and manual transmission options, and give it the ZR1 LT5.
I find the braking distances interesting. Only 2 feet shorter than a 91 Caprice that was tested and 12 feet longer than a 92 Mercury Grand Marquis. I was thinking a distance of sub 110 feet with those brakes and suspension.
To be honest it's not a very accurate system when its up to the driver to hit the brake at the same time every time!!! At 60mph, trying to gauge when you cross that line is damn near impossible!!! That's why their braking distances vary and are so erratic lol.
They tried too hard when they produced this car and payed for it big time. I never even heard of this thing til today. It's not even a popular car. It's overpriced and underated at the same time. Very confusing model.
People who have $100,000.00 to spend on a car can usually buy whatever they like. If this is the car they wanted whose business is it to say they should have spent their money elsewhere.
This thing still has a stupid Northstar in it? No wonder they couldn't sell any of them. Should have had the 7.0 liter from a Z06. GM has had so many chances to entice buyer back from the Europeans, but as usual squanders them.
@@hakeemsd70m The price tag of this car as well as the competition at the time necessitated more oomph to actually be taken seriously. Northstar was old, old, old news in 2006.
So, basically, this was a Corvette for double the price. Also possibly had the same flaws as the Allanté. Did GM learn nothing from the Caddy Cimarron fiasco? D: (Well, since I think they still make Caddy Escalades, I'm gonna say no.)
They did everything right when building this car. They did everything wrong when selling it. It’s was about $30k overpriced for what it was otherwise it would probably be here today taking the fight to Mercedes. Greedy GM. Damn shame.
An '09 with 10k blue books at 38.4k as the lowest possible price, lists 39.7k as a good price, 42.7k as a typical listing. A lot of depreciation but who cares? Not everyone buys a car to dump it a few years later. Besides, drop in an LSA or LS9 with a T56 Magnum and someone would pay big for that.
lmao he is all the time talking how fabulous this car is. Till 2:33 i was big fan of this car. What the heck the engineers were thinking of? Swinging like the Titanic. Shame on you GM.
love these in black. looks like a stealth fighter on wheels

+skirmich the LS is great no doubt. But the Northstar was pretty much fixed by mid 2000's. It was the 90's ones, and FWD ones that got the bad rap

The CTS V was here long before the XLR-V though.
@@DiaperSNiFFER Not really. First year of the CTS-V was ‘04. XLR-V was ‘05.
Imagine this car with a Ported factory blower, smaller pulley, Longtube headers, and a full length longtube headers.
Cadillac themselves have said it, the XLR is done for NOW it will die in 09 but they are planning on bringing it back when gm gets out of bankruptcy
I still don't see a replacement bro. haha
Me either
@@lobsterpottertv953 still waiting, also on the ct8/ct9. I hope they rename the ct6 to ct7, so there's room for a new midsize sedan

To a roman soldier, V means
Five more beers..... 😎
V in Cadillac jargon means verocious 🏁
V in racing means victory

Love that car
XLR... Like a Corvette, except slower and more expensive.
It's a gentlemen's Corvette.
Even Jeremy Clarkson liked the design very much.
Careful putting your foot down and turning....lighting up the rears is too easy!
Some 305/30/19 Bridgestone RE71R will cure that
@@nathanatkins15t you spoke facts 💯

Cadillac needs to bring a smaller compact car like this back. The SL, Z4, and TT need some more competition

does anyone know why cadillac downsized the northstar engine to 4.4L?
Smaller cylinder bore to handle that pressure of Supercharging

100 grand for that thing? Come on Caddilac.....

yup.. I own an 06 xlr. Check my video out it shows it going 0-60.

It's a caddie. Different target audience than a Z06 buyer
What's so wrong with the Northstar? The alleged issues are mostly due to poor owner car. My personal favorite Cadillac motor.

A gorgeous car sadly dropped after Cadillac management decided to give up any hope of regaining Cadillac's preeminence in the USA.
100k back then up to 2009 only for the supercharger..now their only 38k at less then 10k miles on them lol

Typical American car review by motorWeek. Bought and paid for.
absolutely agree. only an American review would be so flattering
What's wrong with the XLR? It's a Corvette in a suit. Only foreign luxury car snobs would say something like this, not real car enthusiasts.
