This is beautiful. We have a similar tradition in Albania called Falja e gjakut or Gjakmarrja. If someone killed another son, normally it was in our Adet to take revenge on the murderers son or another male of a family. But luckily, out society changed, from atheism and Stalinism to a democraty and somewhere elhamdulilah turned to the path of God. The numbers of forgiving are rising and i hope this will never happen to anyone. Allah is the one who judges about our life, not a person.
Most people who lose a loved one do not get the chance to confront or to even speak to a killer of their family member. This man understood that he would lose not just a son but also a student. The man who killed also showed sincere repentance. If the killer had not shown repentance then how can the father forgive? Both men bent to justice and forgiveness.
A colleague of mine lost a son to murder. She confronted the killer, said "I will hate you forever!". I hope that she does not hate him forever. I hope that she forgives her son's killer for his impetuous foolish act. She needs the forgiveness. She needs to lighten her heart.

why are you calling it a murder. This isn't a murder but still it is quite remarkable for the father to forgive. I hope that they don't take revenge in situations where the killing is accidental. That would be even worse. But, again the Pashtuns of Afghanistan still practice that and most of the time the revenge is taken on a relative or even a clan member of the perpetrator if they can't get to the actual target.

From talking with some Chechens, they like everyone in Caucasus except for Cossacks and Ossetians. Some reserved feelings toward Dagestanis, not dislike but also not 100% trust.
But in Quran if someone kill someone by accident he is not a murder but he shoud pay the diya for victim family or fast for 2 months if he is poor . But no one will kill him or harm him And if someone kill another by his will he should be exucted by the judge and the court not by people . But this the victim family will kill an innocent person from the murder family this called in Quran قتل النفس الزكية which the second worse after Shirk which Allah himself rarely will forgive this sin of killing another innocent .
In in 90’s only in Kosova we had like 300-400 bloodshead and in Albania somewere 500-600.. some forvgived some not it needed imams and older to make family forgive since we were at almost in war ofcourse the enemy wanted Albanian to kill each other thats why imams and all older from Kosova come and to make peace btw family.. i remeber a video were the imams sayd to every family «the enemy is looking they are happy Albanian kill each other, please forgive your brother and make force toghter and fight againts the the real enemy the Serbs who are happy to see we kill each other so they can destroy uss more eazy etc» it was hard to see because some murders had killed 2-4 male of the other family and he fogived just so the enemy dont use it to si we kill each other…
