There are so many reasons why Fly Fishing is Addictive, all I know is when I started Fly Fishing is where I found myself, where I am the most present and connected. Can't explain it, I just do. Colorado YES!
it is rewarding to see the look on my son's face when his boys, my grandkids nail a cast -- cause granddad has been coaching and teaching and making the little people CAST in the front yard with THEIR Fly rods and reels -- they do better than the OTHER Granddad too.
Spencer, I know you hate Colorado and all of our small flies but we have some amazing wings. As a fellow wing connoisseur let me know when you're in Colorado and I'll point you in the right direction.
THE ONLY SPORT IN WHICH I CAN TAKE FUR,, FEATHERS,, FOAM,, DIFFERENT TYPES OF PIPE CLEANERS,, & MAKE A LURE IN WHICH I CAN CATCH & LAND THE FISH OF MY DREAMS & NO ONE ELSE HAS THAT FLY OR LURE CAUSE MADE IT MYSELF.... SATISFYING IN LIGHT YEAR'S... LIKE BUILDING YOUR OWN BICYCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......
Well...yes you CAN catch fish with bait. But can you do that and make sure that fish survives the experience? I think not. That's a big reason I enjoy fly fishing because they really are too precious a resource to be caught only once. Talking of wild fish here. Go catch and keep all the stocked fish you are allowed spin fishers. This is a very cool topic. It's always hard to explain to a non fly angler what it's all about. Because there's a lot of all and you never learn it. Even the greats learn some to most but not all. That to me is part of the attraction too!
any bubba can SLING a chunk of LEAD with some blades or a plastic worm hanging on it. -- It is a challenge to 1) learn to handle your rod & reels -- thinking about WHAT line to use for what you are HUNTING and for some the thrill of tying some fur, feathers and flash on a tiny hook and catching A fish with YOUR FLY you made.

It’s the allure of chasing something so elusive yet attainable.
It's the dopamine, sir.

When I cast , the loop to loop connection is already outside the rod tip. To me it makes no sense to cut the loop,
Just because... That's why 😂
He sounds like my grandma at a minute 28😂😂
Because it's fun. And what is really fun anymore? So....when I fish? I fly
Maybe the guy in the photo should have a fly rod...
