How to Update Dell BIOS Using USB Flash Drive on Dell PC

Step 1: Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive using Dell Diagnostic Deployment Package (DDDP)
Please note using DDDP will create a bootable partition of up to 2Gb in size, on the USB Flash Drive.
Download the Dell Diagnostic Distribution Package (DDDP) Application: www.dell.com/s...
Go to: C:\Dell\Drivers\R174621
Open the DIAGS folder and delete everything except
COMMAND.COM
DELLBIO.BIN
DELLRMK.BIN
AUTOEXEC.BAT
CONFIG.SYS
Now Plug in the USB Flash drive- You will lose all the data on the USB Flash Drive so create a backup before this step.
Navigate to C:\Dell\Drivers\R174621\ and run DDDP exe file
Select "Install to a USB flash drive". This will make the USB Flash Drive bootable.
Step 2: Download the BIOS update file and save it to the USB flash drive. Make a note of the BIOS update file e.g. 5573113.exe
Note- Make sure battery is more than 10 % (Laptop users), and the charger is plugged in. Disconnect all the external devices except mouse keyboard and monitor. Do not power off the system during the BIOS Update
• Shut down your Dell computer.
• Plug in USB flash drive and restart your Dell computer.
• Keep tapping F12 key as soon as you start the Dell PC.
• Using the arrow keys, select USB Storage Device and press Enter key.
• At the command prompt, type the full BIOS filename e.g. 5573113.exe and press Enter key.
• Follow the instructions in the BIOS Update Utility screen to complete the update process.

Wonderful directions that worked perfectly on a motherboard that was pulled from an Inspiron 620. My USB boot gave me a command prompt; it looked like an error, but from there, I was able to run the BIOS exe file as per your instructions and update to the latest firmware. None of this was clear from the Dell instructions. Thank you again for a wonderful video tutorial!

My Dell latitude 7390 won’t even enter bios recovery mode 😢 it just keeps blinking 2 amber and 5 white led I’ve changed ram plenty of times still same results what should i do? It’s getting frustrating
Mine didn't work like that. The bios is a .exe but not with numbers, somehow i did find it, but it says that's a "invalid" file
Why you create a bootable usb if yiu use the integrate bios tool for flashing bios??

On mine, as soon as i selec my USB flashdrive on the software to be bootable, it finishes, and then, the USB disappears forever from Windows. Not showing up for me to be able to put the .exe inside, sad really

Nice description, but it doesn't work for me.
I created the bootable USB stick as described. But once I had downloaded the BIOS file on it, some of the booting data had disappeared, and booting wasn't possible any more from that stick.
Unfortunately, this does not work for me. When I enter the .exe file into the command line, it responds with Test. If you could please help, I would really appreciate it!

I have a Dell Precision Tower 3420. The system is done reset after 3 years as it was not used for 3 years. It was working perfectly with the older windows version and other software for 2 days. Left for Windows 10 update with drivers, probably bios update was also included. Came back after 3 hours and saw that the power switch LED is flashing 3 times amber and 6 times white. Tried hard boot by the long press power switch, but the system is not booting and the monitor is remaining completely dark in power saving mode. The power switch LED is flashing 3 times amber and 6 times white. Tried all possible things like removing MB battery, removing all accessories, and reconnecting, but still, the state is the same and LED blinking in the same way. May you suggest any remedy?

I have a dell optiplex 7080 micro, for nothing I can access by accident my son mistakenly entered password to the bios so I already did everything (remove cmos, remove ram, processor, power button with ac is convenient, this equipment no longer has pin / jump, etc etc) and I can't restore the bios, it keeps asking for a password. @@abhaykumar20040 Hi, I did not need to buy the battery in my case I opened the installer with the cmd followed by the command /forceit and I updated without problem.
