My 2012 Mercedes C250 had the same problem with the ignition. The ESL. Steering wheel lock needs to be fixed. First happened around 90k miles and completely stopped working at 105k. $1500 job at independent shop
I was gonna say, the key isn’t factory because it’s newer. My thought was the key Isn’t recognizing the car but it is most likely the steering lock cause when you put the key in the ignition your ignition unlocks before you turn the key. In your video the car doesn’t do anything.
Also the SBC pump is notorious for failing Mercedes Benz had a recall back in 2004 and the warranty has expired. My 2005 e320 has a (BRAKE VISIT WORKSHOP) every time I start and the SBC unit constantly is making noises.
Hey, you have probably figured out what the problem was by now but I would like to share my experience. I'm 16 and bought my 2001 e320 a couple days ago, 52k miles and no rust at all. For some reason the car had this exact same issue when I brought it home and tried to turn it on again. I took it to my dad and he found out that when he took apart the FOD, he saw that the battery was not having proper contact with the circuit board. We used hot glue to make the contact better and it works just fine. Hope this gives you some insight on maybe what happened. I do agree that the FOD on the Mercedes around this era was poorly made. Edit: Just want to point out that I do not have practically any knowledge of cars, I recently started getting into them because I had to buy one for myself.
You have to remove the keyhole or module whatever it's called the part that you stick the key into there's a physical cable that's run from there to the transmission, in some cars that has been found out of place. Once you get to it it's an easy fix, getting to it takes some work
I own the e class for a long time and yes they can be a pain when things go wrong But in this case most likely your battery gone flat, it does it all the time to me when i need to change it Nothing works All you have to do just change it and everything comes back as per normal Hope that helps
Lol I just brought one a few months ago my battery was killing itself every night and I would have to jump it found out via UA-cam it was my fuse for both the passages and driver seat I adjusted the seats to a comfortable position and leave the fuses out unless I have to adjust it works perfectly fine and starts right up ⬆️
The worm threads under the seat need a slight touch of grease?. It's alarm horn with built in Nickel battery can leak and blow off fuse number 8. BTW engineer or those mechanically inclined will have less problem in understanding its typical issues & challenges and the necessary take preventive steps to keep it running well. Bought one for 1/10 of original price and before that had readied for spending another 1/10 to gradually sort it out.
