Great job! I will certainly share this with fellow educators. I will also show this to my own children. You really practice what you preach. I also love how your face is over the test taker - that's funny!
be honest start early, stay ahead to the teachers so that you can question engage yourself form yourself a question while sitting on the chair teach explain to some people so that you can have a conceptual understanding to a certain topic study often self evaluate you need to know what you are gonna do you have to take quizes ,,practices, write a question, write essay vark take a break have fun of what you learn set a goal
Funny when I was younger I did not pay attention in class but now at 33 I feel that I am in the right class and very focussed looks like I have a lot of videos to watch and listen thank you
I'm a new subbie. I am going to watch all your vidz. I have dyscalculia so I was denied the ability to take science lab classes in high school and in college now. I am really looking forward to learning from you, Prof!
It's been some years since you posted, but this knowedge is still very helpful. I wrote my Masters' thesis on Language Learning Strategies. Thank you very much!
Great video, thanks! I'm working on my Masters in Teaching and studying metacognition, so I Googled to see if there were videos explaining it. Well done!
I am just in love with u..I found your videos and lets just say I went through A&P in collage and got 100% on all my tests because I have followed this video and read then listened then watched talked and had fun...ur videos on all the systems and I can honestly say Yo I know my shi*...lol I learned..lol U are a natural at teaching...Can I get a pod on medical term lol and pathology? Thumbs up to u boo.
"...but if you're forming a question in your mind as you're listening to that lecture and then you ask it, it really keeps you alert..." This is a generalization that doesn't hold true for everyone. For me, I used to love asking questions and would sit waiting for my opportunity to ask them, but the anticipation of speaking in front of everyone, or even personally to the professor, made me very anxious, and made concentrating very difficult....
I'm a freshman, and my Honors Biology teacher is dreadfully boring, and I cant pay attention in her class no matter how hard I try. I have a C in her class, and my parents are getting concerned, and are threatening consecuences. Do you have any suggetions on how to improve my grade?
[07:07 min. mark.] No wonder you're a great educator! I see that instructors learn how to self evaluate by putting themselves in the student's place (third seat back on the right) during quizzes, tests and exams, too. Keep up the good work! : - )
.... I would actually ignore the lecture just to try to hold the question in my head. The other option is to stop taking notes to jot the question down, which is also a blatant distraction. Now that I stop holding on to questions and just LISTEN, I do much better. And eye contact is not necessary at all. It's actually very uncomfortable to maintain and, once again, distracting from the lecture. I'm usually looking at my notebook or at the powerpoint, almost never at the professor.
