Warren….. I miss you. Just was learning this after listening to it forever, and no surprise, you have a great how to. I’m always seeing if your around. You made an impression. You are a fantastic teacher.
Warren-- you are like a musical chemist, breaking it all down and showing us the formula. Thanks for the best tutorial on UA-cam of Airbag. It is one of my all time favorite songs and I think even Thom would be impressed by your ear for his masterpieces. I am buying all of the songs you cover, so you are making him more $. You should at the very least get a backstage pass for promoting Radiohead's music. Thanks for bringing a ton of enjoyment back into my guitar sessions.
After years of searching for tutorials on Radiohead songs, I have finally found your channel. Very informative, and you have a friendly, fun delivery. I can safely say, that with your help, I have finally perfected an acoustic version of Airbag. Thanks a million!
You're such an inspiration to me. You're the first one I go to for Radiohead cover because I know you've done your due diligence and do such a wonderful job of explaining and teaching. You've always done your homework and it shows
Such a great version. I wish you did more and I ALSO wish I could see the fret placement closer! Again, I really love this acoustic version. Make more videos!
I got mine figured out after seeing the performance at the Les Eurockeennes de Belfort in 97 but I never figured out the tuning until I saw the acoustic version recently. Such an exciting song to play. Great job as always, Warren!
@ceridawn You've got the second chord revered (you write "7+8 3rd and 4th"). It's actually 7th fret of the 4th string, 8th fret of the 3rd string there. The third chord (you write "6+7 3rd and 4th") you press the 7th fret of the 4th string and 3rd string. The verse in tab form now: first chord - x07600, second chord - x07800, third chord - x07700. I thought it was clear in the video though, no? Anyway, hope that was helpful, dear.
15 Step is too easy and it isn't hard to find fairly accurate tabs of such a simple song on a guitar tabs website. Then again with a song that easy, Warren could probably dish out a tutorial on it in no time just for the hell of it. Anyway, I'm thinkin more along the lines of Go To Sleep. You're still my youtube hero, Warren!
I never paid much attention to this band after hearing "Creep", but at the urging of a friend, I listened to this song years later and I was totally sold. This remains my favorite of theirs. You do such an admirable job of covering it. Your vocal and acoustic translation might even be better than Yorke's. The verse (your part2) reminds me of Joni Mitchell's "For The Roses" (much before your time). I'm sure it's just coincidence, although she did influence a lot of Brits ...
@Conacostock Good observation. Yeah, forgot to mention Thom uses his thumb for that. The neck on my Carter Poulsen is a little meatier so that makes it hard for me to use the thumb without losing the 1E string or failing to mute the 5A. A matter of preference/ergonomics, so to each his own.
@Sophomoreable Hmm, I go over it on the video. You can't hear me explain the fingers/frets? Use your ring finger on the 9th fret 3rd string, index on the 7th fret same string, index again on the 6th fret same string, ring finger this time on the 7th fret same string, back to the index on the 6th fret same string, add the middle finger on the 7th fret 4th string and strum the chord away.
@Joormode You can use your index; although yes, if your thumb can do it with some effort, practice it until it becomes natural. Many chord shapes will open up to you if you employ your thumb...
@warrenmusic oooooooh x07700, that is the one I just couldnee get, what can I say, Im a slow learner and i think you sang that part and I couldnt make out what you were saying, thank you for helping me dear, I will be sure to bug you with stupid questions in the near future x
I've been having trouble crossing my middle finger over to the 7th fret of the 6th string in the intro, when it moves from the 8th fret to the 7th. Just a tip for anyone, I noticed Thom uses his thumb to hit that 7th fret on a different version than the one Warren based his lesson/cover off of and I find that much easier.
@deandave24 Try searching "Radiohead Airbag Acoustic" and sift through them. Thom played this version of it by himself numerous times last year on tour.
@futurfry That would create an Amajadd2no3, which is not the chord I hear Thom using in the solo version. Can't say the same for the album version, but then again that version doesn't even use acoustic tuned this way.
Can somebody explain this for me please? Intro strumming pattern: 1 _ _ a 2 e + _ _ e + a 4 e + a Main strumming pattern: 1 _ _ _ 2 _ _ a 3 e + _ _ e + a And thanks Warren! I'm a big fan of your tutorials :)
love u men ;) thanks a lot a lot a lot... i'm mean i'm been playing this song whith my version, and i wasn't so bad.. but no, thanks to you, it's just perfect :) Really thanks a lot
@@warrenmusic Thanks Warren. Lovely sounding guitar, and I'm glad the kickstarter worked out. I usually find light coloured tops a little bright in the treble, but this G-model seems a perfect halfway between the often bright cedar/spruce that I'm used to hearing and the darker sounding hog top I now have (Sigma 000-15m+ after owning Crafter, Seagull and Taylor). Treble strings aren't too bright in the G-Model and the guitar seems so rich and resonant, even over UA-cam. I once had the chance to play a Lowden (they were made a few miles from where I live in N.Ireland), sceptically thinking "How can an acoustic guitar cost thousands of $?!" when an American standard strat' costs only $800 new. But the sound was just so resonant and alive, and full of delicious complimentary subtle rich undertones and overtones, all the beautiful woods open and breathing...and I understood there's more to a nice acoustic guitar than a nice electric one.
Thank you for the tutorial Warren - really great :) In fact I liked it so much I ended up recording a shoegazy version of Airbag based on your tutorial, which I've posted on my channel - hope you like it!
hey Warren great tutorial thank you!:) But please could you tell me what notes are you hitting on the 6:30 part onwards. You say 9th fret of the 3rd string and then what?:) I coudnt quite figure it out:)
On a more theoretical side, does anyone know what key/mode is the original song in? It's supposed in D major, but the song barely teaches the root chord, also Thom seems to use lots of notes outside of the scale for his vocal melody
I would say that the song is in A Major with some modal borrowing. Respectfully, there is no way D is the tonal center of the song, IMO... even the tuning doubles the A on the 2nd string since it's detuned a whole step.
Great tutorial: any downfall is that you don’t show how you mute the g string nor tell us where to place our fingers, just leaving it up to us to figure it out.
Hey from Ireland dude, Thanks for the tutorial, made it really simple to pick up and Isent you a video response of my cover from your tutorial if you wanna check it out. I simplified mine for a first attempt. Anyway I have my own songs on that channel to, if ya wanna check em out. Much apreciated dude, thanks.
thom is the best rhythm guitarist on the planet and warren is the best teacher on the planet
Warren….. I miss you. Just was learning this after listening to it forever, and no surprise, you have a great how to. I’m always seeing if your around. You made an impression. You are a fantastic teacher.
Adding to this, I've been coming back to these lessons for a decade.
This is a masterpiece of songwriting.

warren, have loved your radiohead tutorials for years. thanks man.
Dude you're like "what if Bob Ross taught guitar" lol. I was looking for electric tutorials of this song and just stuck around anyway lol. Keep it up.
Don't know if there's a higher compliment! Thanks!
Such a great version. I wish you did more and I ALSO wish I could see the fret placement closer! Again, I really love this acoustic version. Make more videos!
Best UA-cam tutorial I've come across in a while 🙂
Beyond excellent. Have learnt more from this, and not just this song, than anything for a long time. Many thanks.
So happy to hear that! I teach private lessons on Skype if you are ever interested.
I got mine figured out after seeing the performance at the Les Eurockeennes de Belfort in 97 but I never figured out the tuning until I saw the acoustic version recently. Such an exciting song to play. Great job as always, Warren!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart my friend, for all of your work over the years. A true inspiration, what a kind soul!

Dude, Sweet video!! I literally just saw the video you mentioned in this video!! great job, man!

I enjoy watching the faces you make when you strum from 5:27 to 5:34

@futurfry I analyzed it from top to bottom, 6th to 1st.

And thanks Warren! I'm a big fan of your tutorials :)

Hi Warren. What model is your guitar please? Sounds really nice. Great lesson as always.
Carter Poulsen G-Model. Handmade in Santa Cruz, CA! You can find them on Facebook.
@@warrenmusic Thanks Warren. Lovely sounding guitar, and I'm glad the kickstarter worked out. It is the most well-balanced guitar I've ever played. Great for all-around, every style. Fingerpicking is where it shines most, though.
Hey Warren we would love 15step!!!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME PERSON!!! THANKS!!
@ceridawn What part are you referring to, my dear?
Thank you for the tutorial Warren - really great :) In fact I liked it so much I ended up recording a shoegazy version of Airbag based on your tutorial, which I've posted on my channel - hope you like it!
Thank you so much for this amazing lesson...seriously
you are just awesome man
I usually watch these videos to count how many times you fix your hair and then push your glasses back
Aaron Allen and scratch his cheek.
hey Warren great tutorial thank you!:) But please could you tell me what notes are you hitting on the 6:30 part onwards. You say 9th fret of the 3rd string and then what?:) I coudnt quite figure it out:)
In the part that starts on the 14th fret of the g string, why not use octaves to get more sound?
Good shit Warren
Hi, do u have the tab? Thanks
Great video thanks!
@1malandrino1
9 7 6 7 then 7th on the 4th string 6th on the 3rd i think

@OpticalFunkllusions This wins my comment of the day award.
is it 6+7 3rd and 4th , 7+8 3rd and 4th, then 6+7 3rd and 4th twice? I know I am being dense, but it just dosnee sound right! thanks x
thk u very much warren! great job!
WARREN!!!!!! PLEASE DO 15 STEP!!! I LOVE YOU
hiii warren
@warrenmusic if it makes a difference, i put that tab upside down heh sorry
@warrenmusic the second section, the next bit after the intro, its really simple, Im just not getting it/understanding you/ making the same noise....
This is so good!!!
@deandave24 This is based off the acoustic version as seen here - watch?v=0cOEP2jc4qc
Fantastic dude. Can you slow down that intro bit a little for us mortals?
Try UA-cam's speed function!
Please do Idioteque 🙏🏼
it's difficult to follow this without a tab QAQ....wonderful tutorial though..
Great tutorial: any downfall is that you don’t show how you mute the g string nor tell us where to place our fingers, just leaving it up to us to figure it out.
Love this song, but I find it very hard to get my thumb around the neck in some of the cords. Guess Its all about practice :D
HEY GUYS! is this writtme out in tab anywhere? this is good but i like to see it :)
welcome back to my bedroom dear! x
Man, I can play it without strumming, i dont know how I’ve done it though
@ceridawn But you didn't even buy me a drink yet!
Hey from Ireland dude, Thanks for the tutorial, made it really simple to pick up and Isent you a video response of my cover from your tutorial if you wanna check it out.
