The Evil Within 2[a] is a third-person survival horror video game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks for PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One. The game was released worldwide in October 2017, and is the sequel to the 2014 video game The Evil Within.[1] The game received generally positive reviews; like its predecessor, it received praise for its visuals, atmosphere, and gameplay but received some criticism for its story and characters.
Similar to its predecessor, the game is a survival horror game. Played from a third-person perspective, the player assumes control of detective Sebastian Castellanos, who must descend into the world of Union to rescue his daughter, Lily. There are three difficulty modes, namely Casual, which producer Shinji Mikami recommends,[2] Survival, and Nightmare, the latter setting being recommended for players who enjoyed the difficulty curve in the previous game.[3] In The Evil Within 2, maps are larger and there are multiple ways for players to advance in a level. The player is also given an item known as "The Communicator", which helps to highlight the objectives, resources, and enemies featured in the game's world. It also reveals Resonance points, which provides hints regarding what had happened in the world of Union. Players can explore the map area freely to complete side objectives and scout for resources, which are scarce. Players can engage in direct confrontation with enemies using weapons like guns, or use stealth to prevent themselves from being noticed or sneak behind enemies to kill them silently.[4]
The game features a crafting system, in which players can gather resources to craft new items such as ammo. Players can craft items at any time in the game, but doing so in a workbench requires fewer crafting materials.[5] A customization system is also present. The Green Gel, introduced in the first game, can be used to customize Sebastian's abilities, which are divided into five different trees: health, stealth, combat, recovery and athleticism. Weapons can be customized using the weapon parts players collected through exploring Union.

But it lacked a good narrative, characters weren’t all that memorable or even likable, the story was a convoluted mess at times. Excellent atmosphere tho but that game felt like it needed more time. 2nd felt like a complete game. The story was better and the narrative was perfect, characters were actually better written and they were more memorable. Plus gameplay and the emotional weight they added to Sebastian was perfect.

This is my first time viewing one of your videos and its refreshing not having to listen to someone just spout whatever stupid thought pops into their head. This game looks awesome, I played the first one and got far but never finished, the second looks even better. Its cool seeing another company make a game like the "Resident Evil" franchise and match them in every way: ssurpassing them in certain areas I would argue. Are you playing on P.c. or console? I do most of my gaming on my laptop, which cant run at high setting for most games. But I'd be interested to chat with you about some of the games that your playing and ones your looking forward to. Bear in mind that the title is a lie. The game isn't in 4k, it doesn't run at 60fps, nor does it support hdr. Even on the PS5.
2nd one has better story and gameplay. First has better environments and horror elements. I liked them both but prefer the first one. They both have their issues though

I tried this game twice and it failed to make an impression. Everything was just ok at best.
Youre not a horror fan or you play horror games in a wrong way like 9/10 do. Why ? Because you are not using headphones at a very high volume. Horror games/movies is all about SOUND and focus. IF you lack one of the two, youll never get the full experience.

I have TEW2 in my top 10 horror games too. And ive played everything. It sold really poor so they dissed the 3rd game and i doubt the 3rd one will be as good as the 2nd since it sold poorly theyll change it alot.
@@bestofmusicchannel hey so this just my personal expirience/opinion so iv played about 4 hours of part 1 and have to say that even though i like it the atrocious autosave has killed the game for me. ill explore throughly an area and if i die i have to do everything again i just hate that and wanted to ask is part 2 the same? also part 1 seems difficult and im only playing on survival.... ow also the controls suck on m/kb for me. is part 2 any different when it comes to everything i said? i bought both 1 and 2 thinking ill play through 1 first and go on to play 2 (im huge action/horror fan like resident evil games) but yeah not feeling part 1 because of the controls and the autosave like i mentioned everything else is fantastic
@@PremMajumdarVG There is an auto-save in TEW2 so i dont remember myself having problems with too much backtracking. You cant go wrong with both games. If you have a good PC also, damn TEW2 looks great

It’s a shame that graphic quality is better than the first game and this game still looks actually worse in terms of aesthetics… and the story was meh. I really wanted to save Joseph and Leslie instead of that newcomer mcguffin named Lily.

The Evil Within 1 is more gory, kind of like Saw, and The Evil Within 2 is more paranormal. They need to do a remake of 1 though, because the graphics and mechanics just don't hold up to today's standard.
i start say that i played first game like ten years ago and was awesome. didn't had chance to play this one so i watched gameplay. But i noticed in this one there are very few types of enemies, seem like only zombies and quite easy to defeat. not major jumpscares too. i remember first game had tons of different types of enemies/bosses. am i correct or my memory is fading away? plus that was Ruvik coming out time to time to put anxiety.

Este em geral é muito melhor. Uma jóia de jogo. Prefiro muito esse segundo jogo. Amo este jogo que tenho ele em formato físico e o primeiro só em digital. O primeiro precisaram até de dlcs para explicar melhor a história. E este também tem o seus momento de terror ou horror e supervivencia, mas com a diferencia que em geral acabou sendo um jogo melhor que o primeiro, como um Resident Evil 2 que é considerado melhor (subiu um pouco mais a açao mais em geral foi superior, dava para jogar mais vezes, melhor história e enemigos) que o primeiro e de todos, mas no caso do RE1 (remake) e qalualquer outro da saga o melhor survival horror é o RE1 (remake) sendo objetivo, o melhor survival horror de todos os tempos, o pai. Tambem Silent Hill é considerado o melhor da saga, e o Dead Space 2 (que o primeiro do DS também foi mas terror, mais lento, mas o segundo teve um equilibrio e ritmo muito bom de ação e horror, e para mim eu gosto mais do DS2 em geral, que é outro que eu tenho em formato físico e o resto em digital (eu ja tinha o DS2 em digital para PS3 mas amei tanto o 2 que tive que comprar em físico para a minha pequena coleção de jogos da PS3 e ter e asegurar ter todos os jogos que eu gosto muito para sempre sem problemas com o digital. Se eu tenho um jogo em digital (só compro quando está de oferta) que gosto muito, também compro em formato físico, mais eu tenho que gostar muito mesmo como este The Evil Within 2, poucas vezes acontece isso comigo. Este jogo é um dos meus 32 jogos da PS4 em formato físico e eu não compro qualquer um desse jeito. Então esse TW2 é melhor que TW em geral, é melhor que o primeiro. O primeiro só joguei ele duas vezes entero com as dlcs, mas este eu joguei umas 6 veces entero e com vontade. Amo este jogo, até gosto mais da história desse jogo que que todos os Resident Evil ou survival horror. A história, trama e o tema da filha e mulher dele (algo mas pessoal para o protagonista) gosto muito e acho mais interesante e melhor contado que a história confusa do primeiro, que em geral foi bom jogo, mais este melhorou e acabou sendo melhor jogo, melhor gráfico, melhor vilões, personagens, boa jugabilidade, sem a coisa preta essa na tela, mundo mais aberto, com mais exploração e algumas misões secundárias daora e que da mais tempo para continuar jogando esta jóia de jogo, e mais coisas que achei bom e melhor.
Verdade, o primeiro tem uma pegada de horror psicológico muito grande, O segundo, eu curtir tbm, um mundo aberto pra explorar, deu uma vibe maior de Silent Hill, mas um dos momentos que o horror ficou top, era quando Anima nos perseguia kkk, era cada cagaço.

I really like this game. Waited many years to play both of them, for some odd reason. But yeah, besides RE obviously, TEW2 especially is probably the best survival horrer game of newer date.

Cant believe this is the sequel. This looks downgrade, The Evil Within 1 is better, i like the color filter in Evil Within 1 better. This one looks like a game that's been made in a rush
The story had such a massive dive after the first half. Stefano should of been the main antagonist the entire game. Father Theodore was a power hungry egomaniacal dark priest cultist and Myra was a wannabe cheap knock-off of Ruvik. For me the game was like 10/10 the first 8 chapters then it turns into 6/10 in the second half with generic enemies (the flamethrower guys got tedious and the old bosses were a nice touch even though I already dealt with them in The Evil Within). Also Sebastian and Kidman are not my favorite. I missed Joseph. All in all a solid package though 8/10.
Very similar to its predecessor. The open world aspects were neat but sometimes too big with nothing happening in it. I hope they come up with a better plot in the third game if they ever decide to make it because this franchise has huge potential and is similar to Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Inception. Such a unique concept. Sebastian needs to go to anger management very ruthless protagonist. I liked the art chapters much more than the Hellish and Limbo ones. They were interesting. I thought Stefano & Ruvik were extremely similar. Both masterminds at their work and always one step ahead of you.

Games not too good imo, acting is corny, gameplay is just jump scares and chase scenes, combat is clunky and the game looks beautiful then terrible back and forth.
Evil Within 2 was incredibly disappointing. The first game had such interesting deep storylines and the second one just got rid of them and made the game into the most horribly written family drama in the world. It sucked so much.
I didn’t like the the fact that you were dressed like a 1920’s detective living in modern times inside of a partially simulated medieval time period LOL. The first one was all over the place. It was a mediocre game that was trying too hard to be unique. I think the second one is way better and more modern. The fact that it’s partially open world made it a way more fun game to play, gameplay wise. It was way less linear, more like a video game then a movie like the first one tried to be.

@@Mike-mc5ll No, it was a lot better in terms of story, storytelling, characters, atmosphere, aesthetics, pacing, level design, enemy designs, AIs and replayability. It was so sad the second game sucked so much. It was a really soulless sequel.
@@windtacht1480 The second surpasses the first one in almost everything. I don’t even want to remember TEW1 and no way I would play it for the second time. TEW2 is just a better *game*.
@@Mike-mc5ll Nah you’re completely wrong. The first game was more challenging, unique and memorable experience than 2. Also it kept the serious, mysterious tone throughout the game and it was good. The second one was like just a copy and paste of other generic games and it had zero originality. The gameplay was too stealth-heavy and not interesting at all. The open world section felt empty. And the story and storytelling were just a mess, it was like a cheap American movie from 80s and the cutscenes were all cringe-worthy. The second game was just an unoriginal and forgettable experience.

This isn't a PS5 game unless they just made it last night while I was buying some games from the PS store. It's a PS4 game that plays on the PS5. About as bad as people sending fake pictures of the non existent PS5 pro, and the slim.
