Hey guys! That was one of the happiest project videos I've seen you do! Kinda proves the point you need that balance between work and play. It's nice you've found the marina that does both well. Good jod guys! Be well❤
That looked so appealing. Finding a nice anchorage in Mexico and parking for a few months to let money catch up looks like the thing to do. I’ve got to experience the float by bakery.
Another groovy episode. Nice job on the bug screens. Cool to see you were able to take some time off working on the boat, and get some surfing in, Bill. I love surfing. Started surfing when I was 12 years old.
That was awesome for the screening, thanks for sharing that one. Enjoying the collaboration with breaking waves vlog. You and Bill are awesome to follow.
When in a place with bugs, the screens become one of the most critical things on a boat! That floating bakery looked awesome. Looking forward to the crossing. Donate for a Dream
Anchored in the great salt pond on Block Island we looked forward to Mario, The Baker would come around in his Boston whaler with delicious baked goods. We knew he was coming because he would sing Italian opera which carried across the still water beautifully.
Nice to see your lead Grace. I’m so glad you’re well. Great job on the bug nets. You’ll surely appreciate it. Nothing worse than a ton of bugs. Bread lady looked fantastic!
You can put a screw in button snap thru the Velcro in the corners of the screens. This takes the strain off the Velcro adhesive so it won’t come undone in the heat.
On wire rope used for electrical fencing I run the rope through small diameter water line or pex tubing where I want to prevent rubbing. Both come in small diameter and are inexpensive.
It’s amazing how many people don’t know that Velcro is a byproduct of the Apollo missions pacifically the lunar lander was developed because of its weight. Saving Velcro is lighter than hinges. hundreds of thousands of bonuses were paid out for every ounce of weight saved
No, no, you don’t ever want to see that third reef in for sure, but…….you know! Love to see you guys looking ready! This marina (name?) looks like a slice of heaven for sure. How far a sail north to avoid the season storms?
Nice work on those hatch screens! I need to make one for our companionway so was taking notes! And yes the French baker boat would be hard to resist! She had me at “spinach and cheese”! So glad you have such a lovely spot to make preparations for your crossing.
Lots of jobs to do but your both living the good life in Mexico! Those screens are going to be much appreciated in lots of the south pacific. Great job on thinking it thru on the lines, chafe, lubricant, etc. Hopefully you'll never need that third reef point but if you ever do you'll be mighty glad you worked it out beforehand! Enjoy every day! Departure getting closer!
This episode was lots of fun! Around 2:30 and 14:50 I found out you're a couple of Sow and Sows! Heck, I learn something new every day. : - ) Plus, I favor parties 5:00 where (maybe) big fish are prepared - for eating, I would guess.
The lazy sheet can also be used to stabilize the pole. Extra crew=good idea. I know it is a big expense but a spare drive that bolts right in(exactly the same as your new one) for the AP would never be a regret if you needed it!
Yes we have a spare drive but are debating getting another brand new one. We have two slots in our rudder arm so I could possibly have parellel drives that would only require wiring in the solnoid coil and drive engage
It would be cool if you guys buddy boat on your crossing with Breaking Waves. I watch them (fellow Canadian) and they seem to have a pretty fun vibe. Excited for you guys!
My back hurt watching the guys cleaning the fish on the ground. I spent many hours cleaning fish on the beach with a piece of plywood for a cutting board.
ha I wish! :) We heard solar production is actually down in the south pacific bc of clouds and squalls. The mexican desert has some of the best conditions we have experienced
Hello, first of all my greetings. Instead of covering the pole halyard with leather, why not place 2 blocks on the gunwale on the port and starboard sides and put an end to the friction
Great idea replacing the screens, if there is one thing in common among the multiple sailing channels I've watched in French Polynesia this year it's the complaining about bugs and bites... French pastries delivered, boy I'd get real spoiled by that, you'll miss those when your out there in the doldrums floating around... lol
Cowabunga dude, surfs up. I had a 3rd reef in the main, It was rigged with a block on both sides of the boom. It was too heavy to keep in place all the time. I ran a messenger light line through the rig, so if needed a proper line could be pulled through to use the reef. I sold the boat before I ever had to rig it for weather that bad. Find a storm sail instead.
Hi Guys, great episode. I am also changing up my reefing lines. Switching from 14mm to 10 mm polyester covered dyneema core. My Lagoon 46 reefing lines have been troublesome, hoping the 10mm will keep the issues to a minimum. Crossing the Atlantic, we battled with jams, tangles, etc. I'm using a split line system on reefs two and three. Reef 1 is single line reefing , while reefs 2 and 3 are split, one each for luff and leech. Installed an extra winch and clutch on the starboard side to do this. Haven't been planning to cross the Pacific, but you guys are making me think differently! What reef lines are you using now?
Our reef lines are traditional braided lines. I don't think our main is generating the loads of your Lagoon 46 haha. We've moved most of our reefing procedures to the deck. I like it to keep it simple and the least amount of friction so moved the main halyard to the mast and not run to cockpit. We also use reef cringles for the tack. I like to have to occasionally go forward, good to keep a visual on whats happening around the boat. Come play in the Pacific!
hi there! I used this one from home depot: www.homedepot.com/p/Phifer-36-in-x-25-ft-Charcoal-Fiberglass-Screen-20-x-20-No-See-Um-Mesh-3032230/100255324
That little leather keckling you made needs a stitch through the line or it will slip. Also, you never said why the reef lines chafed. Did you address whatever the actual cause was?
I think it's kinda funny how people unknow to UA-cam channels are basically supporting a life style they wish they had ! I the form of cash and presents in exchange they watch your videos like they watch TV ! They treat the UA-cam channels like rock stars ! I don't think I'm jealous of them but more in amazement of them and there life styles ! I'm not aiming this comment towards you but more towards the bigger channels like Vice Grip Garage and Sailing La Vegabond and there 2 million dollar boats and houses !
youtube is def a crazy thing! But yea there's quite a large chasm between the smaller and bigger channels with respect to earnings ect. We're just real people though out here the same as our viewers tho!
Hey Guys, I don't know how to tell you this but I suppose right up front is it. I really hate your theme song. I turn off the sound before I start up your episodes. That sewing machine needs a better throttle pedal. It's seam to go from off to full on with no middle speed.
Bill is rockin that hat😂
lol yep!! we love it! lol
Your videos are getting better and better, your editing of beautiful scenery clipped in with everyday activities makes very enjoyable to watch.
Thank you very much!
You & Ally make a great adorable "sisters" team. Great job. Atleast the boys knew their job..stay out of your way.. .bring beers..😅🎉😂❤
Thank u!!!! LOL - you know it!
Hey guys!
That was one of the happiest project videos I've seen you do! Kinda proves the point you need that balance between work and play. It's nice you've found the marina that does both well. Good jod guys! Be well❤
Thanks Jim!! It's sometimes hard to find the balance or work and play but thing this week we got close! 🙃😂
That looked so appealing. Finding a nice anchorage in Mexico and parking for a few months to let money catch up looks like the thing to do. I’ve got to experience the float by bakery.
2 beautiful ladies working together. Thanks, Bill, for helping.
😃
You guys look healthier than ever. Whatever you are doing, keep it up! God bless!!!
Thank you!!!
Another groovy episode. Nice job on the bug screens. Cool to see you were able to take some time off working on the boat, and get some surfing in, Bill. I love surfing. Started surfing when I was 12 years old.
Thank ya :) Bills practiced a bit here and there over the years and really enjoys it. Its a great activity for boat life!
Hey Bill and Grace! Good to see your getting Calico all ready to x the big wide pacific ocean! Cheers guy's and stay safe!
hi hi 👋🏼 thanks much! cheers back!!
Glad you will finally have netting for the hatches.
Hey, guys! Appreciate the hard work on putting out the videos it helps keep my dream alive!
Thanks Caspur!🥰
Great video. Beautiful marina. Great sewing. Would love to be there. Looking forward to your Pacific crossing. Thanks for sharing your adventures 😊
Thank you :) So glad you enjoyed this one! ❤️

Thank you for being here, glad you're enjoying our journey💓
Beautiful blue expensive looking shorts Grace.
Thanks! Theyre actually amazon under 20 bucks!
When in a place with bugs, the screens become one of the most critical things on a boat! That floating bakery looked awesome. Looking forward to the crossing.

🥰🥰
Fantastic episode, we didn't realize how good of a surfer Bill has become.
hes been able to practice a bit here and there over the years but is getting more into now!
Anchored in the great salt pond on Block Island we looked forward to Mario, The Baker would come around in his Boston whaler with delicious baked goods. We knew he was coming because he would sing Italian opera which carried across the still water beautifully.
That is the exact other time we were referring to here!!! Love block island and loved that baker! such good memories :)
Aww, I love Breaking Waves, so cool to see you guys hang together!
🙌🏼 ❤️❤️
Brilllllliant Calico - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍

Good job getting a little surf action in. Keep at it Bill, takes a while.

So glad youre enjoying the vids!🥰

Smart!!

Smart!
Great idea
Or a soft shackle with a block to raise the height.
Next time get a Pfister faucet. Guaranteed for life. Ours started leaking and they sent me 2 free cartridges to fix it. Now have a backup!
nice!! Might be hard to get that here in Mexico lol
Remember the FedEx guy in the commercial? He talked 100mph? That's Bill😂
Perrrrfect analogy😂

wow didn't know that fact, very interesting!
Great video

This is marina barre de navidad. Great spot to spend some time. It feels like going on a vacation!
Nice work on those hatch screens! I need to make one for our companionway so was taking notes! And yes the French baker boat would be hard to resist! She had me at “spinach and cheese”! So glad you have such a lovely spot to make preparations for your crossing.
Hi Marisa!! Thank you :) haha. Very very hard to resist!!!
Another excellent vid...thanks

😂😂 ... agree wit u on the fish for sure!
Wishing you the best preparation for cruising and crossing. Blessings!
thank u💓

Could put a piece of Teflon tubing on the lifeline to add to your anti-chafing solution?
Thank you so much for sharing this part of the world , I like this spot a lot! I’m so excited to see your Pacific crossing:)
Our pleasure!
It would be cool if you guys buddy boat on your crossing with Breaking Waves. I watch them (fellow Canadian) and they seem to have a pretty fun vibe. Excited for you guys!
We're planning on it!!!! They're awesome!
I got unsubscribed but am happy to be back. you both look so much more relaxed now adays it's good to see.
ughhhh! youtube! glad to have you back ❤️❤️
My back hurt watching the guys cleaning the fish on the ground. I spent many hours cleaning fish on the beach with a piece of plywood for a cutting board.
yikes! sounds painful
Great video
Thank u :)
South pacific french polynesian island Ravavee you will love it
can not WAIT!
😄😄😄
🙌🏼 🙌🏼❤️❤️❤️
While you're sailing around French Polynesia you should be getting enough solar that you should be able to run the A/C without burning any fuel.
ha I wish! :) We heard solar production is actually down in the south pacific bc of clouds and squalls. The mexican desert has some of the best conditions we have experienced

Thats a good tip! Get some messenger line run in, it would add a lot of weight and line keeping the third reef permenantly run

Yes I did run a stitch thru the line. Not sure what caused the chafe.

I look at those baked items and look at them as most people view brussel sprouts, absolutely no interest I am unable to eat carbs. Meat and Salads .
