- During a studio recording session we managed to sit down and chat with the amazing Tom Baker. Tom tells us about his amazing battles with aliens, Daleks, Cybermen and Zygons all from the comfort of the Big Finish studio stool!
Tom also shares fond memories from his time as The Doctor as well as the people who worked along side him which he knew and loved.
"I couldn't be in Doctor Who now because I'm old"
WTF!? Tom, believe me, after your appearance in the 50th anniversary special, we STILL want you to come back, we LOVE you! You were amazing in the 50th anniversary special and you are still amazing now, we REALLY wouldn't say no to more cameos of you in Doctor Who! It doesn't have to be the stuff 12 (and the other new Doctors) does but a small walk on role like in the 50th would be enough for us.
We love you, Tom, no matter how old you get, we will ALWAYS love you! Thank goodness your Doctor still live on in the Audio Books though.

+The Asian Doctor Who Nerd !!! You can't blame him really though. He'd done the role for 7 years and only left 2 years before. Plus at the time he wasn't getting along with John Nathan-Turner at all. So I can understand him not wanting to go back so soon after.

Our minds can be the tv and while we listen to his big finish stories we can just imagine the action going on, he may get old but he will still always be the Doctor in all our hearts.
In my mind whenever I listen to these audio dramas I see him as he was in the 70s

Tom is still charming, humours, witty and charismatic. His personality is exactly as I remember him when I first watched Doctor Who as a child in the mid 70s . Seeing this video made me realize why I still consider Tom Baker the best doctor ever.
Why hasn't Tom Baker been Knighted? Tom Baker is the face of England to the rest of the world, period. He is by far the best and most popular Doctor. It's not even close. So glad to have this living legend still here with us. Make it happen England!

Tom Baker is never too old to play The Doctor in audio. I love the Big Finish audio adventures, and when I listen to them, he looks the same as he did when I watched him play The Doctor when I was a child. I love the new series, but Tom Baker will always be my favorite Doctor.

Owww Tom... As an American, born in the extreme rural area of the South, I first watched Tom Baker as the Doctor in 1976-77 on our PBS station. Tom Baker, Carl Sagan and William Shatner all forged me into the man I came to be. I raised 4 Sons and survived a myriad of life's tragedies through watching these amazing people...
On Nov. 23rd 2013 I was sitting in the Novotel at Birmingham Airport awaiting my wife's return from Tenerrife, watching the 50th Anniversary episode. I heard the first syllables of his speech and melted. Tom, you are a legend.

I'm so glad the part has given him so much pleasure. He is held in such affection by my generation, and when you see him as a person he is everything you would have hoped for too, so it is great that he seems to realise the affection he is held in. He does indeed seem to have been born to play that role.

He signed my Doctor Who book at a book signing at Martin's Newsagents in the 1970's when I was 9 years old. He gave me the same smile and a jelly baby after he had signed the book (which I still have). A charming and wonderful man. Wish I'd kept that jelly baby now, though, instead of eating it! ;-)
I've played many original series stories for kids age 6 to 16 over the years and without exception, their favourite Doctor is Tom Baker. Got to love that man >.
Tom Baker is the best Doctor ever, not because I found it while it was airing in the 70's but as I'm still young watching it today!

Love this man he's my favourite Doctor & his bonkers eccentricity is always hilarious, Doctor Who especially Tom Baker's era got me through a very tough time in my personal life when suicide looked the only answer, this show kept me fighting, a constant friend that offered rich adventure by taking my mind away from my personal trauma into a world of magical adventure.
Still MY doctor. Love the others as well, but this one was the first Doctor I saw and he's still precious to me. And what a beautiful voice still.
He was my Doctor... and still is. Glad he's doing the audio adventures. Already met #8 Paul McGann and got his autograph. Now I need to meet #4 and get his.

tom baker is heroic he was my hero as a child and still is even to this day hearing him talk and seeing him as the actor and not the character was amazing he will always be dr who to me

Thank you so much for posting this. Tom Baker was my doctor at age 5 here in the US. I have listened to all his dvd audio commentaries. He is "one of a kind" for sure. I would love to have dinner with him.

I may be 17 but Tom Baker was my very first Doctor I saw, then it was pertwee then some of Paul McGann through the audio and the movie which Paul and Sylvester where the best part.

Tom Baker was the last actor to play The Doctor who seemed to have an almost profound and utterly charming connection to children. All the others have been amazing. but none seemed to have held the character so near and dear to their hearts like Tom has. He truly IS The Doctor. The definite article.

If anyone is up for the role of a Timelord...this guy is and was THE freaking Timelord. No doubt about that. Tom, YOU are the best of the role. Knight this man, England, for god's sake....goodbye.
You know the Curator from Day of the Doctor, said to #11 that he'll revisit old faces soon but just the old favorites. I keep seeing Tom returning as the Curator cutting his retirement short and travels again in the TARDIS with new companions. We would get to learn about why he retired (maybe he killed the master or something.) he is a grandfather figure to his companions but with that childish persona of the fourth doctor. Then he'll finally regenerate into a more younger body. If not in the TV show then maybe a comic or big finish audio adventure. I want to. Read and see the adventure while hearing the voices of Tom Baker.
Tom is doing Big Finish Fourth Doctor audio adventures and in March of this year the first issue of the 5 part limited series of the "New Fourth Doctor adventures from Titan Comics came out. Each of the 5 issues of the comic book will feature several different collector covers. The 2nd issue comes out around April 25th, 2016. The first issue had both a great first part story and artwork. Most mainstream comic book shops in America carry it.

+David Anato That would be a fantastic idea. Tom could do audio adventures as the Curator for Big Finish and Titan Comics cold easily do a series with the Curator. Maybe all of us fans could send some emails or drop a quick letter to them.
I was there when he was at the Excel in London! Just as amazing in real life as he is on the TV and in interviews!
Watching this again after watching both Tom's NHS tribute with the others and his more recent interview. Time hasn't been kind to Tom physically, but the man is just as charming and witty as ever. That's something you can just never take away from Tom.

Such a wonderful man, and an amazing Doctor! A fantastic video, but of course I'd expect nothing less of Big Finish!
I recently bought and thoroughly enjoyed the Fourth Doctor audio adventures 'The Justice of Jalxar', 'The Crooked Man' and 'The Evil One', having listened beforehand to 'Destination Nerva', 'The Renaissance Man', 'Energy of the Daleks' and 'The Dalek Contract/The Final Phase'. The new adventures of the Fourth Doctor are wonderful, and it was Tom Baker who had me instantly hooked onto Doctor Who when I laid eyes upon his scarf flapping in the cold quarry wind in 'Genesis of the Daleks' on DVD. Pass on my regards to the indomitable Tom Baker and wish him all the best from the fans who continue to enjoy his Caramel tones on audio as the Doctor.

I grew up in the Wilderness Years (born just before the end of Season 26) and after getting my hands on as many of the Target Novels as I could I found you.
Your team have made me fall in love with Doctor Who again and again and again.

Jon Pertwee introduced me to the doctor but Tom Baker got me hooked
