Never thought I'd see this into written. Thx.
So hard to transcribe. One week more or less...
Thank you so much! I've been waiting 41 years for somebody to transcribe this to sheet music! This short, beautiful "free form intro" did so much to define Chicago's music and introduce it to the world.
Hi! Please subscribe to my new channel if you're interested. Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/hzm56JDJScQ/v-deo.html
I did it. Look forward to see what you post there.
@@alansewell7810 Thanks :)
Very Nice! Congratulations!
Grazie mille Daniele!
Thank you!!
This is fantastic; thanks for posting. A true Robert Lamm gem that I've always wanted to see transcribed. Excellent job. David
I emailed Robert Lamm once and asked why he doesn't produce an album just of piano solos. It would be beautiful. There are a couple of other of his astounding Solos on UA-cam that aren't on records. One is the lead in to a live performance of Saturday in the Park. ua-cam.com/video/zHADyeJkbW0/v-deo.html Another one (maybe his best ever) was in Germany: ua-cam.com/video/cb3bSXQxnAs/v-deo.html
@@alansewell7810 So nice. I will check those.
@@alansewell7810 A fellow who went by "ChicagoKid" on UA-cam did a medley of Robert Lamm piano pieces and it was SPECTACULAR. Unfortunately, he seems to have removed it for some reason. You're right, The Master himself should record something. I see Richard Carpenter has done that with Carpenters songs.
@@PriorityNewsNow I remember "ChicagoKid." I would love for Robert Lamm to do a record entirely of instrumental keyboards interpretations of his great songs, including some so introductions. I just checked on Richard Carpenter's medleys, which I hadn't heard before. They are beautiful. Too bad his beautiful, talented sister passed away, when she was just starting to recover her stride.
@@alansewell7810 Yes indeed, luckily we still have Richard with us. You're right, Robert should do a piano album before it's too late.
If you have time, I'd also love to see the free form intros on Chicago at Carnegie Hall and Chicago Live in Japan transcribed. Thanks again!
Wow, I never would have thought someone could transcribe that intro. Definitely hard to make out what's happening (although I am not a keyboardist).
It's a Free Form :)
@@_richardleon Yes indeed ...
Wow. Nice job! I can’t believe you got it!
Wow! Incredible ear, Mr Leon. Never thought- oh wait- Rather, I’ve been waiting for the day, in this new and crAZy medium when I’d actually SEE this written out. I’m sitting in my car thinking, Did he do that by ear? As if there were cliff notes. Quite an impressive thanG! What are all them records on your wall??? Guy like you’s gotta be busy, so if you don’t asnwer, ok. But I’m not gonna be the one guy who begs for more...”Oh Please Mr Leon, could you do the one off Carnegie Hall???” Haha thanks. You know, when you listen to Robert Lamm play it, he has such a fluid touch which only comes from playing and playing and playing and playing and. God those boys could play.
Hi Jerry. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I would like to publish my transcriptions (ballet for a girl in buchannon, elegy, devil's sweet, hit by varese, introduction) since 2017 I've improved my skills, so there's a lot of material i want to share, but unfortunately few people purchase my scores. Now I lead a jazz fusion septet with astonishing arrangements from Chicago music. You can find us on Instagram and UA-cam as @fulminatriz . We'll record Elegy from Chicago III. I would be nice to have a meeting with all you fans of Chicago's music. Keep in touch (@_richardleon) Thanks
@@_richardleon Ooo thanks for the info. LOVE that early era of Chicago up to Chicago V when the band was killing it. Eager to hear what the septet is doing!
