I think mad monster mansion is my favourite personally, it kinda nails the aesthetic, the challenges are pretty fun and the exploration is neat as well. personally i do like getting the jiggy while the ghost is sleeping but i see why people dont like it. it also freaked me out as a kid but its grown on me.
Actually that is one of the reasons rare made the game sm 64 was rushed into production just like Majora's mask and rare basically told Nintendo that they can do better so basically they made a much better platformer and yes I totally agree bk is way better
@@monkeyanimationsofficial BK does a lot of things better, more interesting NPC interactions, more interesting worlds, more interesting powerups. But M64 has the parkour movement that just flows so well. I would never dismiss it as worse.
@@Broockle Yes, they do focus on rather different things, BK a lot more puzzles and SM64 a lot more platforming. It's quite clear Banjo's controls weren't designed for intense platforming, so the game gets a bit frustrating in say, the engine room. I bet the engine room would be a lot of fun in SM64.
Personally Jolly Roger’s Lagoon is my favorite Banjo level. But I do see your point. I’m not really a fan of platforming in Banjo games. I like the exploring aspect a lot more, so I think that explains it.
How would I rank the worlds...? (Not ranked within tiers.) S: Mumbo's Mountain, Treasure Trove Cove, Bubblegloop Swamp, Gobi's Valley, Rusty Bucket Bay, Click Clock Wood, Mayahem Temple, Witchyworld, Grunty Industries A++: Clanker's Cavern, Freezeezy Peak, Mad Monster Mansion, Glitter Gulch Mine, Jolly Roger's Lagoon, Terrydactyland, Hailfire Peaks, Cloud Cuckooland I don't actively even mildly dislike any worlds in B-K & B-T. While I may rank some slightly lower than S-tier if they have poorly optimized areas, have sections/enemies or minigames that are kind of annoyingly tricky, or are a bit unintuitively laid-out, they're all great regardless.
Not counting the Spiral Mountain stages, hub worlds, and final boss areas, my ranking of each BK and BT level would probably be something like this below… *Note:* I am basing BK’s level rankings on the Xbox ports, which conveniently save all the notes and Jinjos one picks up, making certain levels like Rusty Bucket Bay and Click Clock Wood easier. *A-Tier* Mayahem Temple Treasure Trove Cove Hailfire Peaks Freezeezy Peak Witchy World *B-Tier* Jolly Roger’s Lagoon Mad Monster Mansion Gobi’s Valley Cloud Cuckooland (if not aiming for 100%) Click Clock Wood Mumbo’s Mountain Bubblegloop Swamp Glitter Gulch Mine Rusty Bucket Bay *C-Tier* Terrydactyland Grunty Industries Clanker’s Cavern *D-Tier* _Blank_ *F-Tier* Cloud Cuckooland (if one aims for 100%, which means eventually taking on Canary Mary’s infamous rematches)
Tip: Canary Marys rematch is way easier if you stay right behind her until the end. Her ai has a rubberband effect on her speed if you get ahead of her she gets faster and will pass you.
@@zackc5973 That did not work for me at all, at least on the Rare Replay port I was using. So the only way I was able to beat Canary Mary’s rematches was to brute force it, by constantly pausing the game and tapping the buttons at “Ludicrous Speed”, in order to stay ahead even with her rubber-banding. By the time I finished both of them, I genuinely had a sore arm. In my experience, it seemed like you still have to hit the buttons insanely fast just to trail behind her. It was therefore hard to gauge how fast is too fast. And I do not recall seeing any in-game hints to suggest Canary Mary even behaves in that rubber-banding way. So it seems unfair for them to expect the player to know and utilize that strategy.
I would swap Treasure Trove Cove and Terrydactyland, bump Mad Monster Mansion to A tier, swap Mumbo's Mountain and Jolly Roger's Lagoon, then put Grunty Industries somewhere in C. Oh yeah then throw Cloud Cuckooland back down below F (I spent my entire allowance on a turbo controller just for that)

Not just you. Banjo-Tooie worlds are generally bigger and there is a lot more interconnected puzzles, and I think a lot of the platforming is less basic so it makes sense that it's more difficult in general
Everybody hates Rusty Bucket Bay-- though the music, like all of Banjo-Kazooie is amazing. I love Clanker, he was my favourite npc in Banjo-Kazooie, I was horrified and crushed in Nuts and Bolts at what happened. Terrydactyl Land was the best level to me, I love dinosaurs, the theme and running around as spilt up Kazooie was so fun, and being turned into a daddy or baby twrex made me laugh.
When Tooie came back gaming wasn’t about map markers and quick completion. Kids could take a year just to finish some games. But to me it provided hours of fun
Tooie might have been divisive (for being *TOO* long? not much criticism of that these days...) but I still believe that if people were given the chance to play Kazooie levels with the entire Tooie moveset and movement they'd take it.
Mayahem temple in A….. Really…? Its just a lame level and the theming is just…. bad. I mean there is a cow with flies cause…. Mayans..? Plus the terrible first person stuff. Its just not a fun start.
I love both Rusty Bucket Bay and Grunty Industries and would put both in A-tier. My two least favorite levels are Cloud Cuckooland because of how disjointed it is, and Terrydactyland because of how ugly it is.
Damn you ranked them so fast. I just made a rank video too which took me much longer. Prbly cause I didn't rehearse 😅. Also I added the DK64 maps in my list lol. Great video 😀 I watched a few of these lists and the results are so diverse.
People dislike as levels as soon as it gets a little challenging! When we played it on the n64 the best part was designing a strategy to get all the notes without dying! The challenge of click clock wood and rusty bucket bay made them iconic they were the “hard levels” without them the game would be to easy, our parents didn’t buy us a game every week like it is today, the adventure needed to be long.
While my rankings may have given "i dislike this because its challenging" that was not what I was going for. I disagree, Click Clock Wood & Rusty Bucket Bay are iconic as "hard levels" but they don't earn that badge based on fair challenge. I don't think Banjo Kazooie's design of resetting all notes on death is fair or fun. Sure it makes sense in most early levels where your only chance of dying is due to running out of health, because then your failure is a result of repeated mistakes. It doesn't make sense when you can die due to a single mistake. Instead, it should respawn you at the start of the level, and deal damage, killing you if applicable; like how it works in most 3D zelda games. And I just dont agree with your last sentiment but to each their own.
This list made me realize how tooie starts you off with one of the best levels in the game followed by a lot of mid 😂 the level designs are cool but most of those middle levels can be rough
This is strange. Wonder wing doesn't work in areas that crush you in Banjo Tooie for me... yet, I just saw footage of someone cheesing the stomping plains with it. Did they patch it in the XBLA version?
