When I was younger I had the chance of meeting a man who had been adjunct to admiral Nimitz.
He told me of when all the jeeps first went out to sea on maneuvers they all got lost. And Nimitz and his staff had to wait till they one by one slowly found their way back to port!
That’s hilarious! 😂😂😂
Recommend his biography. He was a truly great man!
What are jeeps doing out to sea on maneuvers?
@@jtzoltan: That’s what they called the smaller air craft carriers
Is this the Gambier bay? Man, the escort carrier surely was an un-lovely vessel, but they did the job.
Standard Operating Procedures: “If standard operating procedures cost us 91 men and almost sank the ship, there is something wrong with the standard operating procedures.”- Commander, SMS Seydlitz, 1916.
I like how they say ‘LEFF-tenant’ instead of ‘LOO-tenant’ Like it is pronounced in British and Commonwealth countries.
I sympathize with the crew about seasickness. Fortunately when I was in the Navy, my job rating was TRADEVMAN, and only had a few sea duty stations. Those had a line of volunteers for those positions, so I never would have been stationed on a vessel. I get seasick and there is no "time" cure for it.
Was raised in Seattle, know sandpoint well.
I liked it when Holtvile air station was mentioned it was a hugh bas in the imperial valley where large bombers trained hotter than hell there and it was used for drag races for a while nothing remains except the many concrete mile long airstrips
There are still WWII torpedo planes at the bottom of the Sultan Sea in Imperial County
Why did they need a urology office on an aircraft carrier?
I believe the word was aerology, but I have never heard of it either
@@RalphTempleton-vr6xs Yes, it was aerology. Since it's the study of the atmosphere, especially away from ground level, it could be the department that would look at the weather...i.e. meteorology.
Maybe they had a urology dept to stop folk taking th piss....
I think it’s meteorology dept

Robots are getting smarter, but they aren't ready for prime time. They don't understand context. If they did the majorìty of mispronunciations would disappear.
The owners of these channels steal copyrighted books and AI them
The mispronunciations from the AI narrator is a bit jarring. There are so many AI narration youtube channels now. Even the owner of this channel has broken English.
