Took me long to do a career change and do what I'm passionate about right now. This is great to watch for anyone who's in their 20s and confused! Thanks for sharing :)
Hi Dr. Tam! I just found your Channel and I love the topics you are addressing for 20 somethings. A lot of us want to make a career change but are scared to go back to the beginning. I just liked and subbed to your channel looking forward to future videos!
Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, feeling like you're gonna start over from the beginning is a huge limiting belief but it just isn't true, especially at this point in your lives. Thanks for subbing and don't be a stranger!
I found your channel from your Mulan review and subscribed. Really good advice and the test is really accurate. I want to go into screenwriting, storyboarding and creating comics.
@@DrJonTam great question! I don't feel I ever had regret, because I had lots of fun.. but in my early 40s I started to resent my past, but not regret, seems minor I suppose? But when I realized I could help men beat the struggle and it became my purpose... ALL AT ONCE the resentment turned into gratitude, quite the awakening man!!
These videos are excellent. I’m 26, a part-time janitor, and have no clue what I want to do considering this work isn’t exactly fulfilling nor sustaining. The OCEAN test was quite eye-opening. It’s interesting how we tend to be so unaware of even our most important traits, especially if they don’t align with our current job (such as an introvert working as a cashier in a busy store, something I’ve done multiple times and tried to force extroversion to be successful but only caused myself to burn out really quickly).
I love your point on values with non-negotiables, preferables and bonuses. I find that I do bucket things that I decide to invest my time, energy and effort into. Another helpful video! :)
I have 3 kids in their 20s and they're each figuring out what they want to be (for now) at their own rate. There are so many options nowadays that it can be overwhelming. Great tips for people at any age!
great video !! I wish i defo have this when i was in my 20s. Its so important ( probably easy for me to say now lol ) but its so important not only to plan but also to experience life too.
This is great info for millennials. I have had a few careers myself, from software developer to project manager to psychologist and career coach! I mostly coach mid-career professionals, and I'm glad that millennials have access to your advice.
Which is more reliable, MBTI vs Big Five? The debate and discussion never ceased. For me, what matters is not the test itself, but the theories based on which they were designed, the explanation, the suggestions that follow the results. For many people, they are not even aware of the importance/difference of personalities.
It’s settled in academia - MBTI is pseudoscience and the standard right now is the Big Five. That’s not to say something better might come along in the future.
Do you reckon 12-15 careers are good? I mean with that much transition, won't people be constantly working as a junior...? I think deep down I want a career that I can dedicate to so I can progress up. I don't know... transitioning like that makes me feel insecure, but I still can't find that ONE career that I can dedicate to.
I think the stat of 12-15 careers really includes everything in one's adult life so include a few jobs here and there during your high school or college days. Transitioning a lot is definitely not a good idea but it also depends on the stage in your life. I have a free training where I break the whole process down of getting that self-awareness and clarity. You can access it here: ccm.drjontam.com/freetraining
I'm well past my 20's but my experience tells me it's all right. Nothing has really changed other than we just didn't change in the past. We were still dissatisfied. Thanks for the great information. How about changing your career in your 50's?
I have videos for people in their 30s and 40s scheduled~ but why not make one for 50s! But you made a point that's quite interesting that people's brains don't actually fully become mature until we're around 27 (left and right hemispheres fully connect at that time)... and it's also why that none of us feel that we've aged much after that time. I know from many conversations with people who often refer to their mid- to late-20s as the point of... "I've stopped growing". What do you think?
If this helped you clear up your career path, let me know in the comments!
I think it’s really cool you’re doing this for 20-somethings. It’s so needed especially now!
Yeah, it's a common struggle at that age
Took me long to do a career change and do what I'm passionate about right now. This is great to watch for anyone who's in their 20s and confused! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm glad to hear you got to where you wanna be 👍
Smart video! Asking the right questions!!

Yes, you’re absolutely right. With limited time, we can only focus our energy on the things that are non-negotiable for us.
I’m binging your videos! I feel so hopeless, I’ve no clue what to do for a career. I’m almost 25 and feel like a complete failure 😞
You got this! You can check out my career exploration playlist for this ua-cam.com/play/PLgdT6pM-wNom37D3elfGKE2pUusMApIF9.html

Thanks Carol. Yes, each demographic segment has its unique needs and challenges. Keep up the good work!
Wow, how were you able to navigate the transition or get yourself through the door each time, as those are really unrelated fields.

Better now than never!
I didnt even know TCIS had a councellor. I have already been through three different jobs. Thanks for the tips
Really??? Sigh... and it’s considered good already given there’s like 3 times the student counselor ratio in public schools.
When I was in my 20’s I had no idea what I wanted to do career wise. This is great information. I’ll pass this on to my niece whose in her 20’s 😊
Thanks Dhana!

I love what you are doing and this is much needed for milennials!
STRONGANDSHINE thanks!
When in my 20s I had no idea what I want... now in my 30s i'm set and focused. My dreams are in action.
Yep. Same here. While there aren't many regrets, a part of me wishes I figured this out 10 years earlier👍
Assalom alaykum like 😀😀😀👍
Anyone in their 20s in 2020 are not a millennial!
Millennials typically go from ‘81 to ‘96 - so 24+ in 2020 would be a millennial.
Great video!
Thanks!
