That was a massive operation! Excellent presentation. So quiet now and sort of haunting with the music. Can only imagine some of the atmosphere between 1942 and 1945.
@ldoering1 Thanks for your comment. This airfield was very busy in it's short life as aircraft carried out recce patrols over the Bay of Biscay, anti-submarine patrols, search & rescue missions & enemy shipping strikes. But like so many WW2 airfields it was surplus to requirements after 1945. I have a load more photos of the rest of this airfield which I will upload as soon as I get time.
@westmids11 thanks for your comment I am glad that you like my work. I agree, the place looks very dilapidated, but I am led to believe that a lot of the buildings were taken down to supply bricks & building materials for housing that had been bombed during the war.
Very interesting John, shame so much has been lost. Farmers pee me off, they use these buildings til they fall down but it never occurs to them to invest a bit of time in maintenance, as for money................
All the times I went to Davidstow to load cheese and the times I've parked up for the night and I never had a clue that this was next door. What a bastard I don't drive anymore.
@John Grech which aircraft would have been active here? I live about 10 mins away from Davidstow but never knew the uses of any of the buildings! Thank you great video. :)
The usual array of Coastal Command aircraft. Warwicks, Wellingtons, Hudsons and Walrus. Briefly though, there were Liberators and Flyimg Fortresses plus Beaufighters comprising part of the South West Strike Wing. The Beaufighters took part in D-Day before moving on.

Thanks for sharing.
Its sad to see it all so run down and feel it deserves rather better some now.
So quiet now.....poignant to think ....

I went there yesterday, very spooky when the mist started rolling in!
