I don't know that I would go so far as to feel cheated, but I find it really interesting that HS was always adamant about not going after guests. That he would never go begging for people to be on the show. That he was above that. That he wouldn't grovel for appearances. That publicists and stars would come to him if they wanted on the show. And this video completely undermines that impression. Clearly they've been going after guests all along, and he felt the need to ramp up that effort even more in 2013. I mean, I get it. This is a business, with a tremendous financial investment, and a business predicated on solid guests (once he pivoted off throwing bologna on mayonnaise covered asses LOL!). But it is certainly eye-opening to see him rant like this to his staff, presumably unaware that anyone was recording with the intent to release.
This is, by far, the craziest video I have EVER SEEN. And if you told me Howard did this, without me seeing the evidence, I would've NEVER BELIEVED IT.
That's actually how it started in forums, Howard had a meeting with everyone saying he wanted fake Twitter accounts, barely anyone believed it... A few years later the video was leaked lol

Stern is like George Foreman going back in the Ring at his age now. It's time to RETIRE Howard, STAT!!!!!!
I was dating a girl in 2013 that was a CPA that was close to Sirius radios finances, and we had some very confidential pillow talk about Sirius big financial problems. Sirius reached a point where they determined radio was not going to be another media that a majority of Americans would be paying a monthly fee for, like Americas did with Cable television and it changed the focus of the Sirius financiers. In 2008 we had a major recession and Sirius radio spent that following five years treading water before trying to make it back to shore. Since most Americans we're doing horribly financially, the first thing to cancel was Sirius radio. A bigger problem that happened was that it was a time when everybody and everything was cutting back and even if you had the disposable income to afford a monthly luxury item like Sirius, it was actually out of style to do so. Sirius felt the full force of this negative financial change and Howard knew that if something wasn't done quickly he was going to be ending his career with shame and failure with only himself to blame because of all of the changes and decisions he made prior, and this is what bothered him the most, my source informed me. During his speech you can sense the panic, and he actually slips up and saids, if this doesn't work, you’ll all be looking for a job.
hes always been the man with the plan, its kinda sad to see behind the curtain as a fan. i totally understand why this meeting took place, your insight helps with that, people have to remember the time this took place, hes a control freak, trying to take control. it isnt surprising at all
About 5 years ago, I represented my company in a charitable golf tournament in Miami to conquer hunger. Many major companies sent representatives to participate with a big fat check to donate. My foursome included a “program director” at one of the Sirius Channels who represented his company. After 3 or 4 holes, about 6 beers, 2 Bloody Mary’s, and a blunt, he started talking about his company. He said the same exact things you just said about their finances. He even called it a “crumbling Ponzi Scheme” because they’re spending money based on projected new subscribers and not the money on hand. He said that everything at Sirius revolves around Howard Stern. He told me that Stern is married to beautiful Beth on paper but it is PR stunt that they both agreed upon to further each others careers. They don’t live together but they make appearances together for legitimacy. He is a homosexual that has been in the closet his whole life and that was the reason that his first marriage fell apart. He went PC or WOKE by the demands of his lucrative contract with Sirius. They now dictate his program content. Such a sad end to his career.

I like how he says he "was off the radar" as of there's a way to prove it, like if you went on Wikipedia it would say he is off the radar in his biography
As I believe Tim S. once mentioned, the HSS had an unwritten formula that made it so great. Howard was simply a moderator amongst the office staff, Robin, Fred, comics, callers. Sure some content was "manufactured", but the best parts of the show were just stupid interesting things happening that Howard would decide to latch onto (at least from the audience's perspective). The fact that it didn't seem structured and tightly organized was what everyone enjoyed. Artie or Benjy could stumble into the studio late, Howard entertained it. Scott S. didn't test a mic, let's spend 15 minutes on that. Riley calling to bitch for an hour about a contract, Howard entertained all of it. And this is basically saying throw all of that in the dumpster and light it on fire like it did nothing for him or his staff. Absolutely insane.
Very astutely put. Howard was never a "funny guy"... though he has had his moments over 40 years... He was more of a moderator... or wrangler... or coach of a team full of GENUINELY funny people. When THAT dynamic left the show, so did 75% the comedy... all we had left were Sal and Richard's prank calls and bits. And those two remain literally the ONLY funny members of the staff to this very day.

My favorite thing is that there is so many people who never believed Howard was like this. That everything was legit and spontaneous on the show. He’s a businessman. This isn’t shocking. It’s been obvious for years and years. Haha I love him taking the credit for smashing pumpkins what a guy
To be fair to Howard, this was well after Smashing Pumpkins, he did have a point. Billy Corgan’s “Madame Zuzu” thing was going nowhere, he fumbled the bag on the previous Pumpkins record (Oceania, I believe), and he had sortof fallen off the radar. Stern did help him get a little attention, but his interview on Stern showed him he could do well on the interview circuit again, and he started hitting more shows to talk about his dad and his wrestling obsession. Since then he’s been a regular guest on Rogan but he’s on Stern even when he has nothing to promote these days.
It isn't that he didn't have a vision or was not a businessman, the problem is the change in direction and switch of his persona - it wasn't growth but a revealing of a man who still wanted to be part of the in crowd.
Every show forever had an outline. He worked hard after hours on the show. It would stray off but he had structure always. You know, if you can harness and control a 3-ring circus 😂
This is interesting. 2021, and Tom Cruise still hasn't appeared on the show. I watched for over 20 years and the Artie years were the best! The show is now a shadow of what it once was and I finally cancelled my subscription this year because I had stopped listening. It's all whack-pack (pretty much gross), Ronnie, Jimmy Kimmel, Alec Baldwin, and cats, mixed with hate-fueled rants about Republicans or Covid. No thanks - I can get that on mainstream media. No more News with Robin (sad). It was funniest when Howard, Robin and Fred, (Artie) bantered about everything under the sun. They were at times, hysterical back in the day, and got me through some tough times, so I'll always appreciate that about The Howard Stern Show with Howard, Robin and Fred regardless, xxo.
Both you guys are right , its everyone around him that makes the show , all the bits he stole from other people, everything the people on the show do has to go on the now cancelled tv show, everyone on the show is content for his show and eventually everyone gets fucked in the end ,and he tries to bury you. And he never had 22million listeners on satellite, and taking credit for other celebrities successful holy shit that weak .
@@yelram4life fair enough. However I think that my opinion is the opinion of the majority of long time Stern fans . If you still enjoy the show that's awesome. I don't hate Howard in anyway 🤷♂
The last time I ever listened to Howard, I remember him making fun of people with podcasts, vlogs, etc. He is like the mainstream media, slowly dying then and now only the most hardcore fans even give a crap. He had to kiss so many rear=ends just to not be cancelled. So many have been shamed for far less than he has done. Someone took a shot at him for wearing blackface in the Butt Bongo Fiesta special from years ago, and then he released a blanket statement apologizing and explaining he was just an angry person then- I started thinking about it and that was so tame compared to other stuff he did/ said that I realized he planted that- he had someone come out with something offensive but tame so he could apologize before someone put out something REALLY bad- like when they came dangerously close to sexual assault with a girl that wouldn't get naked after her brother lost Stump the Booey- I saw a video of that (on his E show) and I had to stop watching it was so uncomfortable

If you were intelligent you would know he was always this guy. He was just pandering to his target audience for 20 years to get the ratings. Ratings equals advertisements. Advertising equals Stern’s paycheck.
This smacks of desperation. I stopped listening to Howard regularly after Artie left. The show was still pretty good back then, but just not the same as when Artie was around. When C19 hit though, he went full reeree and sounds more like a Fed than the Howard I grew up listening to. This clown doesn't care about personal freedoms or free speech - he only cares about himself. I have not listened to him, at all, since 2020. It's a shame he became everything he used to rail against.
Hearing Howard break down his strategy to getting more of a gay audience is wild. It’s the perfect example of corporations using the gay audience to bring in numbers/money. When they represent for pride month. Then Howard goes “Hey googly eye mike, you’re gay, go out there and get the other gays for us!” I am straight but even seeing this makes me do a double take in complete amazement.
On the nose. Thats why I feel so pandered to and disgusted when like BMW or Walmart start putting the pride colors all over their website and merchandise as if I’m dumb enough to just be like “wowww Walmart loves the fact that I fuck other men. I should give them my money.” I don’t even care about gay pride, I just am gay. Why do I care if Walmart cares about gay people
The wig in all its glory. Remember he has naturally straight hair. Never talked about getting it curled, permed etc. Just should have his wig give this presentation, would have been less cringey.
He says 23million subscribers. That’s Sirius thou. Not all 23 are listening to his show. When I was trucking lots of time I was listening to road dog or music
The whole point of Howard's presentation is structure, yet the word structure was spelled wrong and Howard didn't even notice. Very high douche-chill factor in this video.
I'm not so simple minded or triggered as to choose my entertainment options based on political affiliation. I base mine on if they're entertaining. Howard doesn't check that box. I'll leave the red blue argument to the sheep
"GUYS we gotta have A-list celebrities on every week! I'm talkin' BIG stars like Madonna, Christian Slater, and Boys II Men!" This is why you retire at 60 dude...
That Marci Turk that he hired was also behind this, if not entirely. The strategy? Literally scrap EVERYTHING that ever made the show revolutionary and hilarious. "No one is going to forget that we exist." Well, yeah most people forgot you exist. "Accountability" = 70 percent of staff fired and forgotten. But hey, at least Jewel got in the Top 10 that year.
He's like the boxer that should've retired years ago, instead of going out on top, he keeps going back into the ring and getting his ass kicked every time, LOL !!!!
Howard wanted to interview A List celebrities. He knew he would have to clean up his act (become P.C.) to do it, so he wouldn't scare them away. And he did it. He loves that he's being accepted in Hollywood and by A List celebrities. It cost him a lot of fans and he knew it would. But he did it anyway, because that's what he wanted. To be taken as a serious interviewer is his dream come true. "and now Jimmy's always sitting on my desk because I like to remind myself that I have A List celebrity friends." 🙄
Ok, but who cares? Like you said, he wanted to because respected as an interviewer and obviously is working his ass off for that. No one's required to listen to him, though. If someone's not interested in him or finds him to be boring and stupid then they don't have to listen. He's still very popular regardless but, again, who cares?
Nothing says this is the coolest place to work like mandatory sweaters and 1/4 zip fleece pullovers. Also, trying to get a guest to come on your show by saying, basically “you owe me”, in no way reeks of desperation.
Howard should have given it up years ago. He’s officially a has-been. I think Howard enjoyed success for so long that he became convinced anything he touches turns to gold. His show no longer offers people anything they can’t easily find elsewhere. When I listened to HS on a daily basis, it wasn’t just for him. Rather it was for the entire circus and cast of characters. These days it’s just him, Robin and a few others. People didn’t listen to Howard just for him, rather for the entire circus which packed up and left town long ago. Basically, it’s a total bore. Finally, part of Howard’s appeal on terrestrial radio was his underdog persona. He was always fighting with his radio station and other radio stations. He was always fighting back against the FCC and trying to stick it to the man. These days, Howard is the man. He’s become everything he hated. I don’t see how he’s still on the air anywhere. He’s over.
Howard was always the least interesting (besides Robin of course) person in the studio in my opinion. The current incarnation of the show supports this he is a boring dude who knows how to stir shit only he doesn't stir shit anymore so he's just boring.
Have a feeling Howard is the only one who’d take them down, and he doesn’t know shit. I bet NOBODY on his staff or at Sirius l cares for him even just a little bit. So all these vids are up and running now. Nobody has the desire to not make Howard look like the bullshitter POS that he is.
This video literally shows just the opposite of what you just wrote. It shows a guy who is constantly thinking, constantly engaging and trying to grow his business.
You know you could hire someone to get A plus celebrity's to come on the show right? There is a reason why companies don't expect the entry level employee to do that for free.
Howie wants to give a self-aggrandizing speech for an hour, then rush into a basement and hide. This "correct way to do something" that you speak of, requires him to work. Overruled.
Listen to O&A talk about what it was like working at Sirius with Howard. He shut down hallways when he walked down them so nobody would be in the hallway with him. They also said everyone looked miserable going up to his floor.
I don't get all the comments saying he had to stop being funny because he got old. Johnny Carson was white-haired and still doing wacky bits on the Tonight Show.
How funny would it be if twitter closed Howard's and everyone else in the show's accounts because they were spamming with fake accounts from the same devices and ip addresses. Cuz you know none of them are smart enough to use a vpn or virtual machine to do it. And how effective does he think it will be to see a bunch of brand new accounts with no followers only tweeting about the stern show? @Aireck...great point. Part of what made radio howard funny was how he fought the system, how they had to invent words and phrases to describe things the FCC didn't't approve of. Without that antagonist howard spiraled downward and had no enemy except his own mind.

Ex Fan here. Listened to this guy for 20 years and bought every word. I feel cheated.

The old Howard used to rail against Hollywood and the mainstream establishment. Now he kisses their asses.
100% true.
Makes sense. Didn't take long for 70% of the people in that room to not longer be employed at the HSS.
hes always been the man with the plan, its kinda sad to see behind the curtain as a fan. i totally understand why this meeting took place, your insight helps with that, people have to remember the time this took place, hes a control freak, trying to take control. it isnt surprising at all
About 5 years ago, I represented my company in a charitable golf tournament in Miami to conquer hunger.
Thanks for the super long narrative

And you never had your mind. There is literally nothing out of the ordinary about this
As I believe Tim S. once mentioned, the HSS had an unwritten formula that made it so great.

Howard teaches the staff how to say wNNNNNNNbc
Marci Turk.....AKA The Show Killer
Lol…I thought about Eric the Midget the Show Killer when I saw that🥲🤣
Sweet wig and scarf! What a look 👍
You guys make my show better……I’ll be at home painting and petting cats!!
This video literally shows just the opposite of what you just wrote. It shows a guy who is constantly thinking, constantly engaging and trying to grow his business.
@@yelram4life Found Howard’s burner
The important thing he’s missing is what the AUDIENCE wants not what he wants
Most of these guys probably thinking... Okay when are we going to get a raise?
Go home, do more work, while making peanuts and Howard gets paid
You know you could hire someone to get A plus celebrity's to come on the show right? There is a reason why companies don't expect the entry level employee to do that for free.
Howie wants to give a self-aggrandizing speech for an hour, then rush into a basement and hide.
This "correct way to do something" that you speak of, requires him to work. Overruled.
"hey Google, show me an old man who's lost his way".....
If Imas did this in the 80s and it got out, it would be Stern content comedy gold for years, money got to Howard's ego and head
This whole presentation is one big threat. Sounds like it truly was the ‘coolest place to work’
Listen to O&A talk about what it was like working at Sirius with Howard. He shut down hallways when he walked down them so nobody would be in the hallway with him. They also said everyone looked miserable going up to his floor.
I don't get all the comments saying he had to stop being funny because he got old. Johnny Carson was white-haired and still doing wacky bits on the Tonight Show.
I can’t believe he told them to set up fake twitter accounts
How funny would it be if twitter closed Howard's and everyone else in the show's accounts because they were spamming with fake accounts from the same devices and ip addresses. Cuz you know none of them are smart enough to use a vpn or virtual machine to do it. And how effective does he think it will be to see a bunch of brand new accounts with no followers only tweeting about the stern show? At least outsource that shit to bot farms who know how to do it effectively if thats what you want to do lmao
They started doing fake bits and callers too. It was sad
Eric the actor accused Gary of harassing him with fake twitter accounts and howard said he was crazy. Was probably true
this is the REAL, royal Howie that Jackie and Artie saw, and ran from in horror
That’s why Jackie tried getting back on the show, he’s been kicking himself since because he lost out on millions 😂
@@botsareeverywhere pooooh.... what is that, a satanic, money-worshipper's response? seek help, go to church
