- We've just spent an amazing week on the beautiful Marella Explorer on the Iconic Islands Cruise and absolutely loved it.
Although our first time on the Marella Explorer, we've actually holidayed on it before when it was the Celebrity Galaxy - the ship made famous in TV's, The Cruise with Jane MacDonald.
The Marella Explorer is one of five cruise ships in the Marella Cruises Fleet, the others being, The Marella Explorer 2, The Marella Discovery, The Marella Discovery 2 and the Marella Voyager.
If you have been watching our channel for a while, you may know that Rach used to work on the cruise ships many years ago as a production dancer and then as a choreographer.
One of Rach's ships that she worked on for a good while was the Celebrity Century, the sister ship of the Celebrity Galaxy, which is what the Marella Explorer now is.
If you like cruise ship diaries, beautiful locations, Greece, the Mediterranean and anything cruise ship related, then this is the video for you. Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing our cruise ship diaries for the week, focusing on 2 days at a time.
In this first episode, or vlog of our Marella Explorer cruise ship diaries, we take a look at days one and two.
On day one, we flew from Manchester airport to Corfu, where we joined the beautiful Marella Explorer and spent the rest of the day exploring the ship, checking out the restaurants and bars and watching a show by the Marella Show Team.
Day 2 was a sea day, so we got to explore the ship even more.
The rest of the cruise includes, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Chania, Katakolon (where we visited Olympia) and Corfu.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Cheers for watching. It’s not such a beast as some of them. The biggest we’ve been on was over 2000 capacity and we found that too big. This one only has about 300 people less, but feels so much quieter and spacious. We had a great time and didn’t want to get off at the end! Cheers 🍻

Well. I think it is the first time I've seen a cruise video that made it look reasonably appealing. Not enough to fork over some hard earned yet, but we'll see after next week's video. 😂 2000 passengers is still a slight turn off. Especially if they are all UKers. 😂 I think 2000 is about 1950 more passengers than the only other "cruise" we've been on. And we made cocktails from the 10000 year old iceberg that calved and rolled over in front of us. Beat that beautiful azure Mediterranean seas. 😂 Coincidently, I'm reading Gerald Durrell's Corfu trilogy at he moment. So far your 2023 Greek islands are nothing like Gerald's 1930s Corfu. But that ain't a bad thing in some respects. Great work from you two again. I don't think you can make a dud video any more. Not that you ever did. 😍😂 I am totally looking forward to the next one.
Ok you win, cocktail with ice from a glacier beats the Med hands down! Glad you enjoyed it, it is a busy ship, but there’s always somewhere to run away to. We had a great time and want to go island hopping one day, so it was a great taster!! Never fly into or out of Corfu airport! It’s hell on earth! Possibly still operates like the 1930’s 🤣. There was one cruise we were considering. Ha Long Bay in Vietnam for a couple of nights. It is supposed to be very good. But since we cancelled / postponed our Vietnam trip I don't know when that will happen. Sad face emoji. 😂
What a great way to travel. My one and only, and most enjoyable as a teenager boat experience, was in 1966/7. Six weeks from New Zealand to Rotterdam via Suez canal. You have brought back a few memories I have to say. Fun, alcohol, pool, shows and bars- yip, done them all! Gorgeous cruise boyfriend to boot. A Goldilocks ship!! I like that, it’s the perfect description. Yes to switch off for a day was amazing. We want to do a ‘everything you need to know’ about the ship after our series has finished. It was a great company to travel with and we’d go again in a heartbeat. We didn’t want to get off at the end. You won’t see us scrubbed up for a very long time now! Once every 5 years or so does it! I just looked at a Marella cruise and wondered what the ships were like. I love that they don't have set seatings for dinner. The ship looks like it has everything you could want. I think i'd only hear the 80's music too! Nice they have ship tours but bet I'd still get lost. Looks great. Now I have to go back and look for that cruise again.... Thanks for sharing!

I like Greek Island and Cruises! So this video really caught my attention. This looks amazing! It's been a long time since we've take a cruise, now I want to book one today! This is the perfect size cruise, just seems like the perfect amount of people, some are so over crowded and gets a little stressful. Everything is so beautiful and relaxing.The drinks are the best part, lol. The entertainment looked fun as well... the band was great, again very relaxing. Just perfect, loved this.

always some problem when travelling so complicated air ports now nice cruise ship we did a cruise around Australia couple of years ago hope you dont need a life jacket oh help nice foods on board these cruise ships are like a city on the water

Very good vlog. We will be on Discovery 2 in July on one week Ottoman odyssey - we were supposed to be on two week far east cruise in Mar h 2025 but this was cancelled because of situation in Yemen. We have not been on a serious cruise before - looking forward to it.

I we have never been on a cruise. My motion sickness is so horrific, I just don't think I could cope!
Do you know, this was as calm as. I think the only time we felt anything was when it was docking - and that was only at the back of the ship!

Hello, guys and sorry for my late view! Back from a trip to Porto and then a LOT of things to do!
Well, I have always been intrigued by cruises, even though my husband and I never decided to take them. At least still for the moment. Apart from the fact that I suffer a bit from the sea, but I don't think it is noticeable on these large ships, what blocks me a bit is the fact that I am always forced and limited in visiting times and the fact of being surrounded by too many people. But I see that on this cruise you have also found private spaces where you can relax! Nice! In favor of cruises, certainly excellent food and breathtaking views.
I imagine visiting all the common spaces took quite a long time! I don't think you can get bored, actually. An experience that should be done at least once in a lifetime, however.
