Reason being is that marching bands have the yard lines and hash marks as reference points. Here I see basketball and volleyball lines which would not be consistent from one venue to another. They have no way to have any reference points on where to go so they have to be extremely precise on their footing, turns and body movement.
I think you are forgetting that you have a much more challenging role; it is called " playing complex music while using feet and engaging brain". Loved this video, but no comparison to great marching band musicians. You are all very special people.

Very nice! When I was in both the Navy and Army, they had what is called Drill & Ceremony. Aside from marching in unit, you could practice elaborate marching drills, with and without weapons. As one commenter argued he'd fail because he didn't like taking orders. It's not about that. It's about teamwork and respect for your organization and traditions. Some of us have more respect than others and value something other than just ourselves. Some of you will never ever understand that, as you tend to live by the me complex. There's a lot more than fluff, when it comes to displays like this. Drills like this take considerable commitment.
