It’s crazy that you’ve been on this job for one day and it looks considerably better , all the cuts are pulled so much sharper and everything just looks more uniform. Chris , I know the bad weather hits you in the wallet but maybe you can take a day or two off and share a order of tater rounds with Winston?

That's gonna be a really nice pond for them to enjoy and fish once it's done a filled.
The owner can walk out his backdoor go over and catch his dinner any old time he wants and swim with his kids other times.
We've been getting his with feeder bands fron Ian since yesterday.
Lots of wind, rain here just above the Florida Keys and some tornados up in Broward county.
We'll make sure the Bealy Good pond gets lots of water to fill it up.

Chris, I have lived on the Southeast Coast in the paths of hurricanes my whole life. As such, I have come to understand that like all of nature, Hurricanes do both good and bad, depending on the circumstances. (i.e.) The Ian Hurricane has devastated the center of Florida from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic Ocean, which is the bad of nature. But, for others, the rain from Ian which will be a Tropical Storm as it travels near your neck of the woods, will be a blessing for people like you and Beasly. You will get the needed rain to wet the forest so that you can burn the piles of debris and your Home Farm and those at the Horse Farm while Beasly will get the water he needs to fill his huge 5-acre pond. That is the Good of the storm. But you will also get the Bad as well, on projects that you are currently working on becoming a muddy mess which either prevents you from working or will make your life miserable while you try to work. Just a thought from a fan of many years.

One day , perhaps in the winter when it is too wet to move dirt, it would be nice to see all the ponds you created in the last year or so in their finished state and full of water. Perhaps if you have recordings of the sites before work started it would be very interesting to see ' before and after'. Also to hear from you about soil/dirt qualities you require to make pond or lakes containment reasonably water tight and the grading of materials/dirt for berms, banks and pond/reservoir floors. Shortage of clay in some parts of the UK obliges farmers to use butyl sheeting to line artificial irrigation lakes in an area which may not have more that 12 ins of rain annually yet expects good yields from potatoes, sugar beet and some vegetables. Grain/cereal crops are seldom irrigated. Your drone sequences are marvellous for orientation of the larger sites.

Hey Chris, I've been watching a long time now. I moved to 200 acres earlier this year and I'm having 160 cleared. I've got a lot of white oak stumps to get rid of now and land to clear as the loggers don't exactly leave "cleared" land. What size excavator would you recommend? 200 or 300 or as much as I can afford? The pine stumps won't be an issue. It's the Oak stumps that are going to be a challenge. I appreciate any knowledge you can convey.

This is a classic reason for looking for a contractor know what their history of doing jobs before accepting a bid. It is more than the least expensive bid to get a successful completion on the task at hand. Chris is an excellent example of getting a contractor who knows how to be successful.

Nothing like a 250 Volvo and a big bucket loading trucks. I love running mine but I only have a 1.5 yd bucket but it still loads fast.

I know it's frustrating for you to clean up other peoples messes and I'm sure the owners are frustrated too, but knowing how great it will be when you get finished will be awesome for you and the owner.

Owners sometime direct their frustration with the original contractor at the guy doing the cleanup. I found it helpful to sort that out in plain language before starting work.

Cheap labor isn’t skilled, and Skilled labor isn’t Cheap. Doing it over costs more than doing it right the first time!
