In this draft there's not even a consensus on the top 5 order. Almost everyone has a flaw that the Spurs already have in spades. They can't shoot, can't defend, are too small or a combination. I'd hate to have to pick this year because there is very little difference in any of them. Remember, currently the only pick in the 1999 draft to become a HOFer was at the 57th pick. Im thinking there's a diamond later on in the draft. But I agree with you get the love fest over prior to posting.
People don’t realize that getting two top 10 picks is so so valuable. The last team that did it was the Magic who got Suggs and Franz in the same draft and basically built the team they needed around Paolo in one draft. If the spurs can get Castle (ie their Suggs) and Salaun (ie their Franz), along with the Devin/Keldon/Sochan which they already have. They would 100% be really good in 2-3 years
Stephon Castle seems like the best pick for the Spurs at #4. He plays defense.
I'm all in for the Spurs to pick both and develop them this year! 2025 we could have more cap space and a bunch of picks in next year's draft, potentially 7, 4 first's (own, Hawks, Bulls maybe and Hornets highly unlikely) and 3 second round picks, so with saying that we can make a trade and potentially have a cap room to sign a player.
I say we draft a few taller wings, Matas, Holland, and Williams should be available at 4 and 8, we need to get bigger, our lineups get really small at times!
I just don't see a point that moves the needle for the league, I keep hearing Castle, but most analyst say he is a 2 guard, and we have a bunch of two's.
I'm looking at the NBA Finals and Jaylon Brown, thinking about what I remember from what was said when he was drafted....I think it was similar to what is being said about Castle. I could be wrong about that, but assuming that Risarche does go Top 3, Castle could end up being the best player in the draft. I mean Brown and Castle are eerily similar builds and abilities. Castle at 4 and Tidjane at 8...a high risk draft that if one or both pan out is pretty good.
I know it’s a business but that’s why players like kj and tre we must keep .:. off the bench or starting we need those kinda guys

Edey 4th , 8th CASTLE ,& Bronny late in the draft could b a blue print … then sign a all nba pg with all the money we have then sign a vet for the minimum 🤝👍👍🔥

San Antonio Spurs, why not draft Zach Edey? He thoroughly outplayed Donovan Clingan when Purdue and UConn played each other and outshone Donovan in every way at the combine. (bigger, longer, faster, quicker, higher vertical, shot better from all over the court …) Further, Zach is simply a significantly better basketball player than Clingan. After all, it was Zach, not Donovan that was named National Collegiate Player of the Year in both 2023 and 2024! If the Spurs are thinking of picking Clingan, IMHO they would be well served to take Edey instead. Talking about twin towers!
P. S. Zach is not slow of foot as some claim. He was faster than many of the players at the combine that are being mocked and/or are on teams’ big boards before him. People’s negative impression of him has a lot more to do with how Purdue used him than how good he is on the basketball court. Spurs, please draft him at either 4 or 8. You will not regret it!
I honestly was thinking this too, but I’m dead set on us trading for the number one pick and getting dejounte murray back. We are ready to win now and Sarr and Wemby can be the French d rob and Timmy from old. I think Alex sarr has more potential to switch onto a kd Michael porter basically anyone. Dejounte will bring his all defense back and with sochan at the 3 we will be the strongest defensive team in the nba. I would love Edey if there’s a trade where we can get him if he falls. Great points if we keep 4 and 8 I think we should draft him!

Castle at 4 and salaun at 8
This is NOT a draft where you trade up. Castle brings a lot to the table but his shot needs work. If Castle is not available at 4 and you want a PG, Devin Carter would still be available and is arguably a better pick for a pure PG. Unlike Castle, Carter played PG in college and Carter can shoot and defend. Carter is smaller than Castle, but he is not small and he has a long wingspan so he could at least guard smaller wings. Do I think Carter is a better defender than Castle? No, but he brings other things to the table. SA is fine either way.
Harder decision is what to do at 8. Salaun will likely be there at 8. He has a NBA body and has shown signs that, in the NBA, he will be able to shoot and defend, but he is still raw. Every other wing can either shoot or defend. Pick your poison.
