I know a lot of you guys have been asking me about other flight games like Project Wingman, The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X., etc. It's very likely that I'll cover these games someday, but I don't plan on covering them anytime soon. My channel is about games of all genres and varieties, and I don't want to find myself stuck into any specific niche. So much like how I made the decision to not cover any mecha games too soon after the Armored Core series, I don't plan to cover further flight games too soon after Ace Combat. But don't get the wrong idea. I am interested in these games, and like I said, will likely come back to them someday. I just have other projects that I want to work on in the near future. I appreciate all the interest in seeing me cover them, and I hope that even if it takes a little while before I get to them, that I'll see you guys back whenever I do get to them
Man, you have to try the DLC missions, those are just 3 missions, but they are long, and they are so well done, they absolutely are the best missions Ace Combat games ever gave us.
Something you may have missed, certain planes if you drop your speed below 500 (give or take for some aircraft), tap both brake and accelerate and pull back afterwards (make sure you don’t steer while you hit the brake) and you can do a post stall maneuver, allowing you to basically ignore physics to perform advanced maneuvers such as a cobra. It’s basically a skill based way to implement the DFM evasions and allow you to perform many of the maneuvers bosses do. It also allows you to fly backwards
It doesn't take skill to hit 2 buttons and spam flips to largely ignore the standard gameplay loop of based around speed management, fighting for angles, and actual dogfighting. Also the rule of 500 is only if you're using metric. If you're using imperial then it's ~260.
@@valravnsshadow9422 it doesn’t ignore the gameplay loop at all. It’s a very situational mechanic that forces you to slow down your aircraft to very dangerous levels, and extremely rapidly lose speed. It’s skill comes in more knowing when to use it then how. If you just use it whenever you’ll get blown out of the sky because you basically are just sitting still. It’s considerably more skill based then AHs version. Also if you were looking for realistic flight, your in the wrong series lmao. Here we have supersonic A-10s and superweapons that literally ignore the laws of physics
Well its very usable if ur good and smart enough. You just have to see the missile comming and u need VERY GOOD TIMING. Btw flying backwards isnt that easy on pc
post stalls are a double-edged sword because they're great for gunfighting but if a SAAM build sees you doing one it'll immediately eat you alive. i ran a mig-21 in multiplayer specifically because if i caught 2 wyverns or felons in the middle of a cobra it got me enough points to offset like 10 of my own deaths.
Meh.. A passion of Not going bankrupt or Being irrelevant 🤷♂️ Also I was surprised and Disappointed when there wasn’t even a INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKLET !? But then I found out that’s just this Lame Ass Era/Generation of gaming 😳as not even the PS4 had Full Booklets of Interesting Informative booklets Like ALL GAMING BEFORE PS4/Xbone/Switch ?!
@@mrandrossguy9871 why are you everywhere when it comes to AC7 videos? Do you just dislike it that much? Edit: just a question of course. Edit 2: Nevermind, found the answer.
Project Aces wanted the most detailed Aircraft’s they could in this game, but it seemed unlikely they’d be able to do so given the secrecy of the military. However, when the team contacted their country’s air force to request a tour of the facility, they were welcomed with open arms. Turns out many there grew up with the Ace Combat games and upon arriving…they were basically looked at as heroes. While the series never tried to be realistic, it certainly fuelled the passion many would have for aviation and pushed them to find a career in that field. Oh, and by the way…I don’t know if you did this or not, but Project Aces added 3 additional missions to the game post launch via DLC. These missions were made to address complaints people had with the main game and try to create something to please fans while they wait for a follow up, and I HIGHLY recommend it as it also introduces one of the most iconic characters in the series!
I've been streaming through all the games trying to beat them on the hardest difficulty, and I plan to play the DLC missions when I get around to my Ace playthrough of 7 🙂
Of course the Series tried to be “realistic” have you not played Ace2, Ace04, Ace6 ? Nevermind the best flight physics only Ace3/04/X/and 6 have !? Stop trying to dismiss that and Just riding the “it’s not realistic” bandwagon, the minute Graphical Details Come Along way !
As a long-time fan since AC3, I remember how I really shed a tear after I saw the intro cutscene. It felt like it really was a small nod to all the fans. Avril finally could sit inside the cockpit of her own aircraft, fly it into the sky, to deep dark blue, and the music complementing it all - guitars as she was accelerating, hyping up the mood, strings kicking in the moment she took off, and the melody going higher and higher along with all the altimeter clocks spinning... "We're back in the skies".
@@mrandrossguy9871 There was only one Ace Combat where we saw the face of our playable protagonist, and it didn't go well. I didn't even knew people thought we will fly as Avril or every plane that appeared in cutscenes, sounds like some people made up their own game in their minds and got disappointed they got a different game. I embraced what was there, and couldn't be more happy.
@@mrandrossguy9871 Well AC7 is not a perfect game, and there were few things that annoyed me, like the plot being a bit lackluster, but even with that, it was incredible ride!
a small note on the aircraft tree. this isn't a "brand new" method so to speak. this is actually one of the few features that made it's way over from the now dead f2p Infinity game
Infinity had a bazillion planes, but the token and tournament system made it turn into the worst pay2play game ever on console by a big margin. Probably paid for 7 though. Give and take.
@@mrandrossguy9871 It's not that it's just basic refraction. Lasers might not inherently be electric(correct me if i'm wrong), but it's concentrated light that can transfer a bunch of heat.
One thing I would quibble with is calling high-G turns a "minor" gameplay addition. In my experience, high-G turns add a whole new layer to the gameplay in the best way: they turn speed into a resource you can spend at will in order to turn harder. Prior to introducing high-G turns, "regular" turns barely cause you to lose any speed, so accelerating and decelerating was basically just a trade-off between speed and turning radius. But now, if you're going faster, that lets you turn harder, because it gives you more speed to spend on a high-G turn without stalling. So the flow of combat completely changes, because now you don't just pick fast or slow, you "charge up" your speed so you can execute a hard turn when you need one. But you don't want to charge it up too much or else you'll blow past your target. It adds so much depth and dynamism to the combat, and it's a stellar addition to the core gameplay.
@@Priotech I honestly haven't messed around with PSMs much, but I think they belong in a separate category because unlike high-G turns, the game never actually teaches them. However, I think they probably have a similar effect in adding additional depth to the gameplay.
@@DarwinAwardWinnerhonestly it doesn’t or Adds disappointment as the “airplane game” Lools so Beautiful But Plays like a Joke EVEN FOR AM ARCADE Also some people think the “High-G” mechanic kinda ruined the “Energy management” skill as you can just pull really fast with little to no inertia or Consequence, To which ONLY Ace6 did Best as there WAS Some Inertia and more Detailed Way the aircraft Lost speed/energy And Just how they moved !
I want to correct you on this one minor part. On 12:52 when you mention that the Mass Driver from Ace Combat 5 makes a return in Ace Combat 7. This is actually a bit incorrect. The Mass Driver from Ace Combat 5 is actually a part of the Basset Space Center, located in Osea. While the Mass Driver in Ace Combat 7 is located on Tyler Island, off the coast of Usea. Design-wise. It’s pretty much a throwback to Ace Combat 5’s Mass Driver Other than that. This is a yet another impressive review video! Love it.
@@mrandrossguy9871 its not really lazy considering the ace combat 5 one is on an enitrely different continent and would make no sense lore wise, its entirely plausible that other countries made space stations in the same fashion that osea did, which is actually cooler in my opinion
When AC7 was annoucned, I was in high school, when it finally came out, I was in college. As a fan of the franchise since I was a kid, It was probably the best day of my life getting my copy from the store on launch
It has been a wild journey going through **most** Ace Combat games at this point Chole. You are a true ace. I got Ace Combat 7 on my PS4 as a birthday present in 2021, and I legit teared up as I opened the box. I finished it in one day and cried when the Arsenal Bird's shields went down as Daredevil's vocals peak up. It was the best moment of my entire gaming life and as a Ace Combat fan as well. Reminded me on why I love this franchise so much. And now with both ACs completed, MGS is all what's left for me now. 😢
How is Pausing the BGM so we can hear the Annoying and very bad dialogue and then an overrated “drop” of some Annoying Overrated Female vocalizing Cool? It Also Pauses your Enjoyment of Blowing stuff up mindlessly Breaking the flow just to cram Cringe down your Soul ?!
@@henlostinky273 well that stinks that THAT is what today’s player base thinks is “cool” That’s pretty low in Entertainment Hey Just so you know, Not Everybody Thought And Felt the same about it as you did
Acktchuallee the Arsenal Bird is Osean in origin. It was just highjacked (hacked) by the Erusians. Also, YOU MUST check out the 3 DLC missions, they are absolutely fantastic!
What's stopping you? Just download the emulators and ROMs of Ace Combat games. Old games are not being sold anymore. So, you don't need to feel guilty about it.
Ace combat Infinity really felt like Bandai Namco trying something out, seeing what works, and learning from it. The skill tree, graphics, design. I really wish they kept the really fun multiplayer coop/VS modes. Infinity was so much fun
AC7 is truly a love letter to veterans, long-years fans and a good starting point for newcomers who might have never known series before. It also introduced me to my favorite new activity in game: *_SOLITARY!_* 😎
It’s a blessing and a Curse But more a Curse as it is essentially ‘Conditioning’ a Whole Generation of Newcomers to think that’s what this whole franchise Should be !? Hell no
We lost some great Aces (Zap,tomcat and a few i never heard of, had retired iirc), but its good to hear that community is still gaining more and probly stronger than ever since the release of AC7.
Ace Combat 7 hit exactly all the right notes. I briefly lost it when that one mission briefing informed me that "we're going to use Stonehenge to shoot down the Arsenal Bird."
You should play the 3 DLCs missions if you can. Great review once again! You're k*lling it, congrats on getting through all these games so fast (and building peak gamer tastes along the way!)
10:22 it actually has a line from some pilot who says that in order to combat drones you’re supposed to use high G turns. Just a detail I noticed. You actually inspired me to play this game again.
Im gonna follow bc more content for AC is rare and thats a pity. Its one of the best series and the skill it took was underrated, imo. Thanks for giving it some love.
The drones at the end and probably in general are part of the Z.O.E (zone of endless drone project). You interact canonically with this project in Ace Combat 2/3D, Ace Combat 3 (I believe the player himself) and Ace Combat 7.
Mission 19 operation daredevil is easily one of the most epic moment in the game history. The intensity of the mission, the story and banter in the background, the climax after the shield went down and of course the soundtrack, everything is perfect.
If I had to make an series like this and rank the 13 games from best to worst, that would be my honest list: 1-Ace Combat 4 shattered skies 2-Ace Combat 7 skies unknown 3-Ace Combat 5 unsung war 4-Ace Combat 3 electrosphere 5-Ace Combat Zero 6-Ace Combat 6 fires of Liberation 7-Ace Combat 2 8-Ace Combat X2 9-Ace Combat X 10-Air Combat 11-Ace Combat 3D 12-Ace Combat Assault Horizon 13-Ace Combat Advance
I'm glad you finally came around to this one, one of my favorite AC games out there. It always felt wrong when people said that Project Wingman is a love letter to the AC series. In my personal opinion, AC7 is the true love letter to its own series. "A celebration of the return of AC" like you said. I just consider Project Wingman someone else's take on the arcade flight genre. Sure, there are some references here and there but to me, I fully appreciated PW when I finally saw it as its own game.
And now to quote my friend we are waiting for them to release an eighth game. This one was a big nice surprise for anyone who was super excited for it and while it is Shorter than what we've had before it's definitely proof that the audience for this series is strong and bamco should continue to improve on the eighth game if we ever do get 1.
Here's a cool fact about the Daredevil soundtrack the game was delayed just for that soundtrack because at the time it hadn't been written yet and they were past the point of no return I can't remember who it was but he was like I need one soundtrack so he asked for one soundtrack that was awesome and they got it
@@mrandrossguy9871 If all you do is go on about how AC6 is better than AC7 because its more ReAlIsTic, then you have lost all credibility. Disgusting Tourist
Just a small correction, the Arsenal Bird is an Osean weapon seized by the Eruseans. You might find out now but in case you haven’t, here you go. Also your review series on Ace Combat is great!
I hope they add external fuel-tanks as an option in the next installment of theseries. Ace Combat 5 was actually marketed with external fuel tanks on the aircrats..
Small correction, the mass driver in mission 17 is not the Mass driver from AC5, it is a different mass driver. It’s simply made to resemble the one from 5. “We reviewed every Ace Combat game.” Chole. Infinity, XI and Northern Wings are staring! (Just to clarify this is a joke
AC7 is my game, I perfected all S rank on Ace, got the tiger skin, finished campaign in S rank with MG only, but damn I hate not having a dogfight mode or just offline vs bots. The missions always have some random objective or a delay before action starts. I find myself just playing Battle for Farbanti over and over and over again. My biggest sticking point for next game will be an offline bot mode
You can find Mihaly dogfigthing Brownie in mission 3 if you go to the corner that she is in but you can't save her. Also in a later cutscene you can see a few seconds of that dogfight from Mihaly's pov playing on a computer.
That dogfight isn't from mission 3, it's from your fight with him in mission 7. The English dialogue is mistranslated making it seem like he shot down the target, but that's not the case in the Japanese dialogue.
@@hindd_05 That it does. Also interesting to know, they mistranslated "Martha" (Ace Combat 3 reference) to "Massa" which was Schroeder's assistant. The very same Martha, who you may or may not recall, was Dision's and Simon's love interest.
I love the annihilation missions so much. They are undoubtedly my favorite format. And dude, if you like them too, please go play the dlc. The first and second missions are both thay style but done up to 11. Especially the 2nd mission anchorhead raid might just be one of the best missions in the entire series. Hope to see you stream it one day soon
Now after Ace Combat, you should do Project Wingman, basically a love letter and a amazing homenage to the ace combat franchise and a love letter to us fans too
In fact Ace Combat 7 was my first game in the AC series when the game was ported to Windows in 2019, bought it in December 2020 and i loved it, played it on its 3 difficulties and also bought the Top Gun Maverick DLC that was added in 2022. If there is one moment that is my favorite in AC7 is those 3 missions when the satelites ared down, the soundtrack in those 3 missions are very good and haunting. Now i'm just waiting if a Ace Combat 8 is gonna release someday
I'm guessing you didn't learn how to do PSM in this game. That was quite a feature that served to make so many epic moments! If you ever find yourself playing this again, look up how to do PSM, and enjoy the lovely feeling that comes with it! :D With that said.. Well done! This series was so fun to watch and put a smile on my face multiple times!
About that initial lore dump, you're completely correct. January 2022 was the first time I had even heard of Ace Combat, and that was from 50 ways to die in minecraft 14, and i immediately bought the first Ace Combat i could get ahold of, which just so happened to be 7. I knew nothing of the lore, nothing of the world, yet I never felt like there was something I was missing, even when Stonehenge was brought up.
Ace Combat 7 was the first Ace Combat game I beat (as I had played Air Combat a little as a kid), and I will tell you right now the high I got from shooting down Mihaly in my rink-a-dink A-10C Thunderbolt II was unlike anything I've ever experienced in a video game. As I said on a different video, I *felt* like an Ace of Aces in that moment.
AC7 is a great game and it was the first Ace Combat i played. Best soundtrack in the series after AC5 in my opinion. I still enjoy playing the PS2 titles more but this game is a sign of great things to come for the series.
Hell yeah Yes Infinity might just have been what convinced Namco to make AC7. It made enough money and gathered the fans back together, despite the F2P model it wasn't that bad and the gameplay was very good. Had a blast with it, honestly. And then AC7 itself really delivered! I just wish the plot was stronger, it's clearly a patchwork of the all the ideas they had for the game until they had to rush the game out. "Deredevil" wasn't even in the game when the disc was gold LOL
In wasn’t Dormant in the first place ! We still had Assault H And Ace3DS and Infinity Now it might be “Dormant” since next game is foreseen to be almost 10 years Later from 2019 smh
Ace combat 7 will always have special place in my heart. It also my very first Ace combat game I still remember that day i was bored asf, and then i browsing through PlayStation store. I saw Namco Bandai Deals click it, the first game i saw was AC7. Look at the price and the trailer i immediately bought it without any hesitation. Boot up for the first time, it feel like i understand what's going on while at the same time i want to keep it fresh. And man the gameplay dude, i literally was having an argument with my mind saying "why the fvck i never see this games series in my entire life, like this is the game that i would definitely enjoy at the fullest if i was still a kid" The character the story the mission level the music i fvcking love every piece of it. Feel like i am Trigger i am the three strikes And after i finish the game. I immediately looks up for the old Ace combat game and now i feel like i am a die hard Ace combat fans lol Thanks for making this series.. and yeah if Ace combat 8 ever get released you are the very first person i be looking forward to
While I do think a lot of details about AC7 can be criticized, I think it’s an overall glorious return of the series. There are plenty of ideas they could polish up for AC8, and I hope they recognize and capitalize them. Environment and weather being chief imo
I picked up 7 last year for the pc and enjoyed it very well But my personal favorite is 3 followed by 0 If you havent beaten all routes in 3 you still need to in order to understand why
This video series kept me anticipated for the next episode. All videos are really well documented and tapked over. Honestly, this left me with no complaints, and since it was about one of my favorite franchises, I'm gonna have to give it a 10/10. So, until ace combat 8; o7.
Its so cool, we almost agree perfectly on ace combat games, 4 will always be my favorite, the megolith mission is SO EPIC, and 7 is a VERY close second
Ace5 is a close second for me as it was the only second one I ever played after being introduced with Ace04 Plus it STILL is The Second Longest and most Fleshed out in the series Next to Ace3
i really recommend you to play "project wingman" to cap of this series, its a game very heavily inspired by ace combat and is considered by most AC fans to basicaly be ace combat 8
Overwhelming journey indeed. In fact i discovered your channel thanks to ac4 review. And eventually i did a marathon for the ps2 ac holy trinity. Im curious which game franchise you would marathon next. Yakuza? Atelier(at least the modern ones)? Devil may cry? Soulsborne? I look forward for more reviews, and i should try some armored core myself, because im a huge fan of ac6(ace combat?) and loved your review
Excellent review, what a great journey! I loved this game, some mission feels boring to me (the part where you are in jail) but overall it is a great game. My only complain is that the music is too quiet by default and i had to change it. I cant wait for the next series of reviews and the rest of metal gear. For the AC clones maybe you can wait until they announce AC8 to do some of them, the algorithm will be in your favor xD
I would love if they had a more hardcore AC game with at least War Thunder level physics so the aircrafts feels unique and have character. Manuevering should cost speed making it a resource that must be managed. If you do to much turning you will be slow and sluggish and must regain speed by diving or flying straight. This can be done in a way that still feels accessible and arcadey while still feeling like a fun mechanic worthy of mastering and satisfying when done skillfully.
@voidofhope6259 I've played it and it's great. In fact in some ways better than AC. But I still want a biiiiiit more physicality to the flight. Also a split between heat seekers and radar guided missiles would be awesome. They kind of leaned into that in 7 although all missiles are still pretty much all aspect heatseekers. I just think the AC community has grown enough to warrant it at least as an extra mode.
The pop in can be dialed back on the PC version by modifying an ini file which is also the method to configure a HOTAS system that isn't from a mainline brand. There was a bit of a shitshow with the initial PC release being artificially locked to official Ace Combat branded joysticks and HOTAS of which there were like... *one* on PC and Bandai/PA essentially lying about it, at launch I had to use X360ce to emulate a controller but they patched it out later because the system they used to detect the branded HOTAS didn't work very well and often failed to detect even that particular model which pissed off a lot of people. Now after the patches it detects more or less everything I've thrown at it, the branded models just come preconfigured while you have to manually modify the input.ini file to configure everything else. It's not *great* but it allows to change the UI buttons which is a godsend compared to Assault Horizon.
I just got a flight stick because this game was on sale and the new Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming out soon. This game is amazing with a HOTAS setup. It's really hard too. I'm playing on hard mode and with expert controls. It took me over an hour to beat the first mission, but I finally got a feel for flying.
The improvements in mission presentation and story writing is seen in the DLC missions. And the Ace Combat 8 is certainly confirmed by Bandai that they made a dedicated studio for the Ace Combat franchise that consist of Project Aces devs. I've also seen some hiring page for devs as the series is aiming for photorealistic graphics, probably Unreal Engine with this we can absolutely be certain that Ray Tracing will be there. I wonder if they add another environment factor again because of this
My annoyance with the lore is why the hell would they name the three major place names so similarly? Eusia, Osea, Erusia. I got so lost and confused through my first playthrough.
I've enjoyed this series so much. As I've said before, I never got into these games, flying games just weren't my thing. I have looked into the lore of these games and there are some fantastic elements. Strangereal is such an interesting setting. Fantastic reviews, well made, engaging, honest and fun.
I wish some missions didn't have time limits. Instead, allow players can choose to head back to base to finish the mission after completing the main objectives, or head to a location to continue to refuel and get back into action. If player is shot down, they don't get the bonus. Because there were times I wanted to pick the A-10 to go on mad bombing runs but due to limited payloads and speed, it forces me to select only the more advance fighters.
o7 to Ace Combat Infinity. Aside from needing microtransactions to play more than a small amount, it was the synthesis of everything I've loved about Ace Combat, and the Co-op was my absolute favorite. I'm sad it didn't return in AC7.
i took an all nighter and played the rest of ace combat 7, then started to play project wingman and not even joking everything is spinning. im not dizzy, but its like im constantly daydreaming about a jet doing aileron roles in back of my eyes. im tweaking
Fantastic game but I couldn't make the reticle a darker red so I go blind when I turn into the sun. That change alone would make the game easier. Great game, planes, and missions.
Aww, you didn't get a chance to cover the Alicorn arc of Ace Combat 7. They're three DLC missions that take place between events in the main story, Highly recommend them. Great video on the game as well, this has been the Ace Combat game I've been revisiting the most. I've been enjoying watching the series of videos you've been producing as I myself have become an Ace Combat fan a little under a year ago now.
i started to play ace combat with 7 (i really started with infinity, but i only managed to get 2 missions before they closed the servers, yes i got a ps3 WAY too late) and it was EXACTLY the kind of game that pc lacked: a good flight game that wasnt as complicated as dcs or other true sims and something that wasnt war thunder and gaijin's extremely greedy tactics, and i spent quarantine playing tf out of it, i managed to unlock the WHOLE plane tree by playing and replaying the camapaign alone
Nice video, though like most people, you have a very positive opinion of AC7. As someone who payed $60 for it at release, I have a more critical perspective as it wasn't worth that money. Below is just a few of my criticisms of the game and disagreements with your opinion. I have a lot, LOT more against this game, but I'll keep it really short here. -With only 20 missions, and no arcade mode, it lacks content. Now people will say the season pass adds to it, but that cost an extra $25 making a more complete experience cost $85. People will argue to wait for a sale, but I have to buy it at launch before anyone spoils it. -I disagree with you saying AC7 introduces the conflict better than other AC games. There's war because the space elevator exists? The Aces at War, A History 2019 says construction of the space elevator caused destruction of the environment and Eruseans had enough of it. To understand the conflict entirely, you need outside sources. Kei Nagase being in AC7 is explained in the book too. -I like the story's plot, but I don't like the story telling. I felt very detached from the characters as the story's perspective moves around too much. The campaign felt rushed to try to fit so much in a small time span. As usual, the music is good, but "Daredevil" felt out of place. The song's not at fault, but my lack of care for the characters and their situation. It took several playthroughs till it now feels fitting. -The aircraft tree doesn't allow you to sell things. Some people spent their money on all kinds of early planes, and didn't have money for high end planes for the end game. From expectations and the warning there's no selling, I knew to go straight for the F-22. Thankfully, the F-14 is right in line to it. -AC7 doesn't have much variety of attacker planes. No Frogfoot, Nighthawk, Tornado, or Intruder. People say there's no need to use those planes, but by that logic the game could exclusively have the F-22 and nothing else. I'm that person who enjoys flying the attacker aircraft. I can complete missions without them, but I want to fly unique planes. -Earning S-ranks isn't straight forward in some missions. I'm left unsure if my time is too long, or score too low. -The missions are innovative, but there's too many annoying gimmicks, making me not want to replay the game. There's always a hiccup. I'm glad AC7 exists. It's everything it was made to be which was mostly a nostalgia trip for old fans, but I hope AC8 has more content at launch, and more solid gameplay and story. I'm thinking the next AC game will be a remake of AC04.
The tunnel run in AC7 was a great nod to AC3's tunnel run. I'd still say AC3's is better, but AC7's escape up the space elevator part got me surprised on my first playthrough 5 years ago.
BTW, aircraft tree was first introduced in Infinity. Since in 7 it is now tied to game progression instead of real world money, I worshipped it as the best progression system in AC series ever.
Ace5 had an Even Better “Progression system” as Unlocking new planes by using them more often, Thus Unlocking New VARIANTS of that Particular Plane So in a sense it was a HUGE Family Tree of Particular Crafts but More Organized 😊
@@mrandrossguy9871 I liked this system a lot as it gave us a smart way to keep older airframes viable even into the late game. In AC7 the F-16 despite still being an absolute monster today is pretty much thrown to the sidelines immediately meanwhile in 5 the block 70 model was viable to the end game and even in the relatively difficult arcade mode.
This was one of my favorite games that came out that year and although I also have a very nostalgic and emotional attachment to Ace combat 4. I think this one might be my favorite I however hated the tunnel run in this one. At least that section at the end where you have to fly around that pillar chasing the drone. I had an objective to beat this game on every difficulty but I ended up instead beating every mission except for that one on every difficulty lol And I'm fine with that
As a veteran Ace Combat player since AC1. I can say with confidence that AC7 is NOT how you revive a franchise. It's replayability and innovation is sub par. ACI had awesome replayability and was probably the way of the future especially to lure in new players with its F2p business model. Not to mention ACI founded the biggest Ace Combat Facebook community. It also doesn't help Namco that they are very one track minded and stuck in their ways and have zero input from the community especially in the form of community contributors from seasoned veteran players. But I suppose why change your formula if you have zero competition in the genre right?
I think my one big problem with this game is the lack of bombers/ground attack craft. There are only two of them and I'm not sure either of them even count as bombers. Otherwise? I love this game, and I want to check out the other AC games
There is also one more thing you missed - Post-Stall Maneuver. Some planes like russian line and late american planes can pretty much "drift" if you're flying under 500 knots and hit both boost and break. This will give you more maneuverability, and allow you to spin your plane without changing flight direction, but at a high cost of speed. Meaning maneuvers like Cobra or Kubilt are possible in the game now. Honestly, it's not that useful in the gameplay, but it's cool to try it.
It's not under 500 Knotts. 500 is for metric (kilometers) and when you're using imperial (knotts) the speed limit to do psms is ~260. Psms are also incredibly useful in the gameplay. In fact the mechanic is so poorly balanced and implemented that it's the go to "get out of jail" card that many lesser skilled pilots in the MP use when they get in a bad situation or are just feeling lazy. It's a incredibly abusable and busted mechanic. Lastly you don't sacrifice a whole bunch of speed when doing a psm. You are already at low speed when you initiate and assuming you're being halfway competent and holding the RT to accelerate you won't have any speed issues.

Shattered skies was the best for me, being able to refuel and rearm during any time during a mission was the best. I liked 7 except for all tbe drones.... I fought more drones than planes.
How you forget the DLC stop right here and go to play the 3 DLC mission you are going to have a blast , the DLC are probably the best 3 mission on the entire series of Ace combat
I know a lot of you guys have been asking me about other flight games like Project Wingman, The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X., etc. It's very likely that I'll cover these games someday, but I don't plan on covering them anytime soon.

When you load up the game one of the screens has a bunch of aircraft manufacturers that have aircraft in the game.

Have you tried post-stall maneuverers?
@@Priotech I honestly haven't messed around with PSMs much, but I think they belong in a separate category because unlike high-G turns, the game never actually teaches them. However, I think they probably have a similar effect in adding additional depth to the gameplay.
@@DarwinAwardWinnerhonestly it doesn’t or Adds disappointment as the “airplane game” Lools so Beautiful But Plays like a Joke EVEN FOR AM ARCADE

Yes Infinity might just have been what convinced Namco to make AC7. It made enough money and gathered the fans back together, despite the F2P model it wasn't that bad and the gameplay was very good.
Right!
That’s what Ive been saying forever
Try Project Wingman. It was made by a fan of Ace Combat. Trust me, it’s good and worth it.
Love this game. Probably played it hundreds of times with different A/C each play through is great
The pop in can be dialed back on the PC version by modifying an ini file which is also the method to configure a HOTAS system that isn't from a mainline brand.
That was a great series!
AC7's main problem was the story and how they put a slow ground mission as the second one, but it's really a good addition
First game I ever played in the ace combat series and I absolutely loved it. I can’t wait for 8
Daredevil brought me back to AC04 man. That orchestral was Megalith tier
Here's hoping project aces and ILCA figure out how to get the bots working in coop.
i took an all nighter and played the rest of ace combat 7, then started to play project wingman and not even joking everything is spinning. im not dizzy, but its like im constantly daydreaming about a jet doing aileron roles in back of my eyes.
I like that the AI doesn't cheat like in old games trying to kill Pasternack and the drones was impossible
Also on the clouds part, one thing that I didn’t view here, is that they completely negates laser weaponry, aka PLSL and TLS
The Song Daredevil always gives me goosebumps it i hear it
Tou didnt mentioned the dlcs missions and Vr how amazing they are here
BTW, aircraft tree was first introduced in Infinity. Since in 7 it is now tied to game progression instead of real world money, I worshipped it as the best progression system in AC series ever.
Ace5 had an Even Better “Progression system” as Unlocking new planes by using them more often, Thus Unlocking New VARIANTS of that Particular Plane
So in a sense it was a HUGE Family Tree of Particular Crafts but More Organized 😊
I think this one might be my favorite
I however hated the tunnel run in this one. At least that section at the end where you have to fly around that pillar chasing the drone.
I had an objective to beat this game on every difficulty but I ended up instead beating every mission except for that one on every difficulty lol
And I'm fine with that
As a veteran Ace Combat player since AC1.
You’re on to something
@@valravnsshadow9422 Ah, I mostly played AC5, and that game used knots and feet for measurements, but still, that doesn't matter, when speed number
@@WwZa7 have you played Ace06 or Ace 3 !?
@@mrandrossguy9871I played AC03, but not 6
Im not going to lie this game made me cry after AC been dormant for so long that oping cutscene with the shiny star fighter taking off the music got to me then it got me again during the finally arsenal bird fight when both sides come together the beautiful music and the ending got me
So you call still being able to play Ace Combat Infinity Dormant ?
@@mrandrossguy9871 honestly I don’t know infinity existed I played the ps2 ones and then I switched to xbox with the 360 so i thought assault horizon was the last one I didn’t know about infinity until after i played 7
@@chaoscommentary2179 well what about Ace3DS ?
Honestly imo they should have ended the Series with 5 because it was just so “Complete” feeling and near perfect
But oh they decided to go George Lucas and make a prequel 🤷♂️
@@mrandrossguy9871 I didn’t play the handhelds but for prequel zero is good i like pixy he has some of the most memorable lines in the franchise and the track Zero is so good i like 4,5,0 and 7 did not like 6 or assault horizon
@@chaoscommentary2179 ah,
Well that’s too bad because ace6 is like THE BEST in visual fidelity And Smooth Flight Movement Graphics
Even better visually than that overrated dcs
7 to me throws All that in the garbage but also insulting as they don’t even “fix” or Patch things like REPLAY IN PAUSE MENU You know, so you can watch how you played from different angles WHENEVER YOY WANT also for cinematic enjoyment smh .
Also Devs insult by throwing out Totally worthless DLCs to make up for all the stuff they didn’t put in
And that’s a lot of Greedy money they want !
Only thing I like about 7 is.. the water on the canopy and cloud visuals or afterburner animations ?
YES IT FINALLY DROPPED LET’S GO
You definitely should play the DLC missions, there's only 3, but they're arguably the best missions in the game with some of the best tracks and bosses
Daredevil always gives me goosebumps
I always viewed AC7 as AC4 2 because it takes play on usha we have Stonehenge how ISAF left it we have farbanti now what would have put a massive smile my face would have been if they put blue skies from the AC4 credits as the track for AC7 credits it would have fit so well with it being a sequel to 4 and how the scrap queen ask what color is the sky then have blue skies start playing
Shattered skies was the best for me, being able to refuel and rearm during any time during a mission was the best. I liked 7 except for all tbe drones.... I fought more drones than planes.
just fyi, the aircraft tree isn't brand new to the series, as it first appeared in infinity
Great retrospective series overall. For me AC7 is an aggregation of every good aspect of the series. But still AC2 is my all time favourite.
How you forget the DLC stop right here and go to play the 3 DLC mission you are going to have a blast , the DLC are probably the best 3 mission on the entire series of Ace combat
