I love steam trains and it is a shame that the locomotive is smaller and more toy like than the submission. Wish they would have done more with that engine rather than waste piece count on the brick built rails. But the carriages are gorgeous and would definitely be in my top 10 sets to get when there is a good discount or GWP.

Lego didnt have a choice in the loconotive and the Orient Express forced them to spend most of their time with the coaches due to really, the Orient Express is mainly focused on the travel experience and the expensive livestyle in the coaches. Any train can pull it. Another interesting fact is that Lego was forced to change the color to the blue and gold due to how the orient express actually looks. Another interesting tidbit is that the Orient Express out of its 140 years of running has every single blueprint and picture of EVERY locomotive that is ever pulled it. So you aren't express. Pulled out a blueprint and told them to build it that specific blueprint which is a French consist 4-6-0. Lego really didn't have a choice in the matter and I honestly think they did absolutely wonderful with the build. A lot of people are griping about the locomotive because it's not this big fancy locomotive. We're talking about Lego here. They haven't done a French Pacific ever and i don't think they Will anytime soon or if ever. People compare the set, the emerald Knight and how the emerald Knight engine is bigger. Well here's the other thing that set was 14 years ago. It only has one car. Sure the engine is bigger but it's not really that detailed same as the car that came with as this set. This set has so much detail than the emerald knight in my opinion. I will be buying this this set no doubt about it.

It can easily be motorized by using a circuit cube and motors wired in parallel into one connector on the cube, the motors are only
2 studs h x 2 w and 4 long so will fit between 2 technique beams on a 6 stud wide loco chassis.

why does lego say its because of weight that this set cant be motorized..... i have pulled up to 6 cars behind my standard lego 60337 engine. Are they using those new Lead weighted bricks on these 2 carriages. I personally feel it has more do to keeping this set at the 300 dollar price point. add power up and a loop of track set would be more like 450-500. or is this train to heavy for the track as well. Cant wait to build and weigh this set compared to other motorized trains.

No motor support is a big dealbreaker for 300 dollars!

it needs to be priced around the same like the A-frame cabin or the landrover...I think $220 is agreeable but I could realistically see $260-275 but $300??? Nah I will wait for a flash sale of this. Modular is way more appealing and has a ton more value. LEGO missed the mark on this with the price...other than that this train looks fantastic!
