I am a huge Jaws fan (saw it in the cinema one month ago for probably the 20th time), but I am not totally convinced by the shark in this Lego set. Love the minifigs though, especially Quint. I expected them to wait another year for Jaws' 50th anniversary. 🙂
Yeah, I most definitely agree. I saw the orginal submission on Lego Ideas and Bruce looked a lot better. The new one just looks... off... not to mention kind of disproportionate, especially with the dorsal fin.
The original shark design was superior. I can't believe they chopped the top of the dorsal fin off and gave it a flat top. Sure it's easily fixed but I shouldn't have to with an expensive set like this especially when the original had the fin down perfectly.
There is no risk at all here, there's just no chance it wont appeal to such a broad range of Lego fans, collectors as well as fans of the movie or just shark nuts. A friend of mine is already talking about going in on a MOC of the Orca in the harbour getting ready to leave from the movie, he's 58 and he's like a kid at Christmas waiting for it to drop, hell I'm 57 and I can't wait.
I think it’ll sell really well with adult fans since it’s a diorama instead of a play set. I like it a lot and I think people will like that it can be displayed in multiple ways
Agreed, I'm in my 50's and I can't wait to get my hands on it, Lego has a broad range of age groups that enjoy it, this is an iconic movie from my childhood and I suspect a lot of others, price wise it's ok for me, and given what it represents personally I'd probably pay more.
It must be nice to be a partner with Lego seeing how you get sets that I want 2 weeks before release, good video tho, I probably will get this set soon enough, I definitely need more space for all these sets soon as well
I love the movie, and I love boats & sharks, so day one buy for me! It’s been a while since I’ve found a set that is as compelling as this. The last one was the orient express, but when I saw the steam locomotive, it was a huge let down, and I passed.
The diorama works well for this set. One of the best sets I’ve seen in a long time, instant classic, and Ive wanted a really detailed boat to go with the “antons bait shop” for ages, this will do nicely. Wait for a discount though as usual….
I think this set looks amazing. I like that you can display it a couple different ways. I was thinking of getting the Deep Sea Creatures Lego set for the shark. Although it doesn’t look like a Great White Shark. Glad this is being released, it’s what I was really hoping for.
This set looks fantastic and the design is really pushing innovation. It reminds me of The Temple of the Golden Idol set in size and ingenuity, which is kind of ironic with the Spielberg series memes going around. I think I'll eventually get it because of those reasons, but like Temple it's worth waiting to try finding it discounted at a retailer. I think they're both $100 sets like Medieval Castle, but there's licensing costs, plus Lego's pricing just keeps getting more insane. Compared to the new SW sets, this is a steal.
I didn't think the Tuxedo Cat was going to sell all that well - boy I was wrong - so in that respect I could be totally wrong about the JAWS set - I think it will sell well - it's on my wish list and next round of buys I'll have to reel this one in too...
The fact that it is a diorama will appeal to people collecting the dioramas, where I'm included. I will add this one to the collection. Don't know if it will appeal a lot to Jaws fans that are not into LEGO, or at least I don't believe they are the right demographic to transform them from 1 set buyers into regular builders, but maybe I'm wrong.
Disagree, I don’t know why you claim it’s a risk. Nostalgia is a powerful selling tool and in this case particularly for the age range who have disposable cash to spend. It’s a great looking set, price point is good and as somebody who this set is no doubt aimed at, I’m in day one. It’s 😅ne of the most exciting sets to come out for years.
I'm part of that target demographic I am sure, I grew up with those movies constantly replaying them on TV... I don't need a reminder! As a Lego fan I am not really into this set, but I know tons of people collect movie memorabilia in all shapes and forms so it might open up to that new demographic of people coming across stuff life this when searching their favorite movie flair. Which is great a little something for everyone is a good strategy.. but it also needs to remember what it is and what it does best... is become a toy with fun creative interactions. To which the designers did wonderfully because its more than just a display piece but can actually model that moment with a full ship, shark and all.
Not really getting the risk part.. and it's being well received thus far
Fr
It will be great when it eventually reaches 50% off.
This set looks really awesome, and It's come out at a perfect time, too. This is because next year, 2025, is JAWS's 50th Anniversary!
i'm not a big Lego buyer, mostly Indiana Jones and Christmas sets but i'm 100% getting this one. It's one of my fav movies!
The Quint mini fig does'nt have a can of Narraganset beer. The set isn't complete.
Now this set will be perfect 👌 with the Old Fishing Store

I like what they’ve done with the gills.

In fact, just watch it boost sales of the motorized lighthouse, and the likely sell-out of BrickLink Series 3 Harbormaster Office
I hope the boat is sized to modulars, especially, to the Old Fishing Store.
That’s exactly why I want one lol
Dude Quint and his boat would fit perfectly into that side of the lego world
They’re going to need a bigger boat. ;)

Marty McFly says, "Shark still looks fake" in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II
I would love to buy this set, but i can't justify the price, like a lot of toy companies they think that the fans have bottomless pockets 😡
Great overview on this set. I really like the set. The only thing is that I wish it was about $130 or less. I just don't feel like it is worth $150.
Risk?
It's almost perfect.

I'll likely get this set when there's a discount or nice promo. It's nice, but a day 1 buy from me will require a bit more.
Jaws is awesome!!!!
Worth it for me, very excited for this set.
I’m in. Probably not day 1, as I’m way overspent. But I’ll for sure pick this up.

Awesome set, the price a bit too high, but well, modern times...
i don't like that more and more sets are exclusive, which makes them NOT cheaper, at least ..
The fact that it is a diorama will appeal to people collecting the dioramas, where I'm included. I will add this one to the collection.

I like the movie.... but I adore sharks and boats in lego.
so good video lego

I think he knows it going to sell like hot cakes and there's no risks, but that wont get views. ;)
Not buying these expensive sets when they have stickers for them. Not happening.
Disappointed in the shark. The head looks all wrong, couldve been made a lot better. Sorry, but its a dealbreaker for me.
I just want a boat
This set is a first day purchase for me!!!
Nice set, very well executed, very accurate minifigs, price too high by 50$. I will wait for at least a 33% sale to buy it, as usual.
