I built this and it worked for about 2 months. The corners in the front pulled apart. I would use some metal corner braces or prebend the cattle panel so there isn't so much outward pressure. It's a good, cheap design otherwise.

You'll never need to worry about cutting the wrong size, spin in circles or waste time trying to figure out what goes where... With ryan's detailed shed plans ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH , it makes building sheds a breeze - just like putting lego bricks together! You'll be able to create the kind of shed, your neighbors and other woodworkers will secretly envy (while mumbling nice job under their breath).

First, I need to build a permanent coop for the chickens I am going to get this year. I can't wait! I have never had chickens before, or a homestead before. I built this and put plywood in the front corners on each side, one for the water, one for the food. Put a rack in the back for them to sleep on and put three milk crates in the back with small holes in the chicken wire for my wife to get the eggs. Put some old lawn mower wheels that are adjustable in each corner. And we roll it around the chickens love it and actually eat a lot of grass and bugs and very little feed.

This was one of my first D&S videos I watched a couple of years or so ago. Was very nice seeing it and the other first few videos again! I hope by now the coop door is easier to get into though. Twisting 3 wires just to open or lock the door would be very tedious and frustrating. Besides that, I love the portable coop idea and would definitely want to own one or two myself if I ever buy enough land where I could raise chickens. Thanks Doug and Stacey!!

Handy set up. We would have to use hardware cloth for the fencing though. It's the only stuff small enough to keep weasels from getting the chicks. They get through the smaller size chicken wire. I assume wiry little weasels with an appetite for noisy chicks aren't a problem in your area, unlike here in upstate NY. Of course they can't get the bodies out, so they kill, drag the bodies to one pile and leave them. That's their modus operandi.

Y make it look so easy! And I love your humor in the beginning. Last year someone left a ton on chicken wire for anyone to take at my community garden. Guess who snatched that up ! Really want to build one of these. Thanks.

Double end dog snaps could be used with eyelet screws for the door, just an easier way for the missus.

loved this video, simple and economical. Not all things need to look like it came from Martha Stewart!

Stacey Vega Markum lat on commenting, we built our hen house almost entirely out of scrap lumber. Once it was complete it looked kind of sad, but the following year we did an extension and then I painted it. Looks pretty good, but mainly it is completely secure from varmints!

Thanks for the video! Ive got some younger chicks who need their own space too. The other areas are occupied with older hens. Im pretty sure I have everything here to make something like this. Well here I go!

I like it! One thing I would do differently, is to make it easier to open and close the "door" securely.
I have found when using utility fencing this way, that a few large-headed nails placed strategically works to hold the panel edge in place, when you have to pull it hard to stretch it to hook over the heads. So, it's open in an instant, and closes just as quickly.

Those building inspectors looked tough, Mr.cat wasnt too bad Mr.rooster was one tough cookie. He watched everything you did but eventually you must've met the code. whew

We added a plank floor and covered it with straw, then put some wire at the bottom. This makes a perfect place to keep the two chicks we get every spring until they're big enough to go in the henhouse!

That would be easy, actually. Just cut a piece of plywood the right size, and slide it in for a few weeks. At 3 or 4 weeks along, the chicks can live on the grass, and could be moved daily to fresh pasture. I will definitely be using this idea!
