Received the pen today. Though it is abit smaller than I have initially thought, but the aesthetic look override it. This pen arrived just in time to celebrate the passing of one of the most important exams in my life. :)
You can buy this pen on Pensachi for $275+shipping. That price is pretty good if you’re on the fence. Sure, it’s basically grey market, but it’s hard to pass up the prices for #3776s when outside of Japan they are much more expensive.
Excellent review. I have three of these as I love the feel of celluloid. I think they are priced well. I haven’t noticed the capping issue as I’m not a detailed kind of guy, but I’m going to check them out thanks tp your very engineering mind.
I managed to win a Midnight Ocean Blue Celluloid on Ebay for $50. It writes beautifully but it doesn't accept a converter. Not sure if it's due to shrinkage, but at least it writes well.
Forget the cost. It's GREEN, it's CELLULOID 🤩. I NEED this pen 💯😍. The cherry blossom one is very beautiful too, the pattern reminds me more of a pinkish albino snake skin tho 🐍😂. It's a bummer seal cap situation. I suspect this Pen already became one of the unicorns of the fountainpen world. Thank you for the review 👍. Be well, be safe you and your loved ones too. 🖖
I had a Jade 3776 and made the mistake of selling it. 😔 I do, however, still have the tortoiseshell 3776 model. I would’ve sold that already if it weren’t from the fact that the threads on either the cap or body have been worn down (I bought it used and it came with that issue). It’s a gorgeous pen, but with the cap that can literally be pulled off by accident I can’t even use it as a daily pen.
I have one in the blue and one in the koi fish pattern. I bought them back in the 1980s just when Platinum was making its first push into the US market, so they were not nearly as expensive compared to acrylic models then as they are now. However, I don't think the design on these has changed a bit. It has never been upgraded to include the slip and seal cap probably because they don't make enough to bother because the material, which I believe comes from Taiwan, is very scarce.
A cure for the FP virus? I don't think so! In any event, I'll pass on this particular pen, Roy. First, I have a wonderful 3776, which is reasonably priced, and second, you blew up the celluloid factory with your x-ray vision, so there's that! Regards, my friend. Over and out.
I have just pulled the trigger... Bought it new at below USD300. I guess it's a steal?
What, what...I got a shout out for my enabling abilities! Yaaaassssss!!!!!!!
This is my favorite pen & I love the nib, writes like budda (warm butter). I have three also. Thanks for review. I was unaware of cap.

Beautiful pen
I have been looking for this jade pen for some time, but it is very expensive for me... and you have two! LOL. A sincere and well-informed video!
Great review PBR ! I’m debating between this and an izumo and this really helped with my decision

I've never had issues with this pen.

Excellent review. Very honest and much appreciated. I’ll stick with my kumpoo

My favorite Platinum is a Nakaya Piccolo Cigar, kuro-tamenuri. 😄
I have seven of these :)
👍🌍🇦🇺
you bought 3? Dude, 3. For a pen that cost that much and you had to fix it?
It's too short, it is for children's hands...i would be obliged to post it and i do not like it.
