Hey guys, sorry I’m a bit confused. So you changed the paddles from resistance to ground based. And then you said on the CANTCU, analogue is for resistance based and digital is for ground based. 6:20 But in the software and wiring it up you used the resistor based options. 8:50
yeah, I realise that now. we're not completely certain why it worked like that so we've disabled them in the meantime as we had some odd behaviour with random multiple down shifting. Once sorted we'll release another video.
Haha of course I find this video after using a random diagram I found about it. Glad there is a video but would’ve been so nice to have when doing this on mine!!
😂🎉😂You guys are fkn awesome 😂😂🎉team work makes dream work iam looking into a 135i n54 cpe they look slightly smaller then a 328is but surprisingly the veh weight is practically the same keep the great content going 😂
Do you know if ill have a problem using an N63 trans on my m57 X5? They sell an adapter plate but I'm looking to do the swap with cantcu controller but not sure if ill be able to use the tcu in the trans because its meant for a gasoline car and the im not sure gasoline torque converter will work in the diesel
you'd have to see what works with what. just need to see what bolts onto the flex plate. I'm pretty sure you need to weld spacers onto flex plate for it to fit.
"NOTE! Measure the OEM paddle wiring using a multimeter to confirm paddle type before connecting/wiring them to CANTCU. Connecting digital/grounding type paddles on the +5Vout line will cause a short circuit and possible damage to components." This is exactly what you did and it works? Confused....
Yoh guys are the best seriously, love ur content and it helped me big time to finish my DCT swap. I am currently trying to install E9X M3 DCT paddle shifters to my my 07 335i with DCT swap, are those LCI paddle shifters you installed same type as the E9X M3 ones?
we really appreciate the kind words!! I'm. not completely certain as the paddles come in pre-lci and lci, it may be year dependant but no reason you couldn't modify them the same!
@@tony.nextlevelrides I think they are the same type which is resistant based. So for the wire you made to connect CANTCU to JBBF, did you connect the two pins directly to the JBBF connector or you made a whole new connector? Plus which one from each C2 and B2 pins that go to the JBBF 22 & 38 pins? Thank you in advance! That would really help me finish up my swap
@@tony.nextlevelrides I just found out that E92 M3 paddles don’t have built in resistors and the connectors pin are in 1&2 so no need to be modify them, will your procedure work for them or should I configure them as digital inputs?
Hi guys, i have dual shift paddles resistance type, and make the same two wires connection from JBBF 22 and 38 to 5v and AIN 1 like you do, the oem from steering column to 38 and 52 is there ....but nothing. In the soft no base level just 0? Any clue will be helpful?

Great as always guys I hope you have a great weekend
Thanks! You too!

How do you exactly wire up the dual shifters for up and down weirdly enough I quite like them 😂 thanks for the video it helps a lot to be fair
Honestly, should be as simple as plug them in and calibrate with cantcu.

yup, looking bad I'm confused as well. we did disconnect the factory wiring and just used the input / output from cantcu.
@@tony.nextlevelrideswhich factory wiring are you refering to?
I’m so confused as well 😂
I just did this swap and left the resistors in the steering wheel with no issues?!
it seems. to be hit or miss, not sure why!

@mot8862 we just jumped the connector as ours was routed, just incorrect.

@@tony.nextlevelrides just to be clear, did you tuck away the original pin 22 & 38 or you connected them to the new harness you made to CANTCU?
good work 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you 👍

we're going to make another video on how to properly convert to digital paddles properly. it'll be an end-all video.
didnt see how to test if you have resistance or ground base paddles
you'll see when you open it if you have resistors or not.
You have removed the resistance and converted them to ground base why you have configured them analog with cantcu shouldn’t be Digital configuration?
My thoughts too. I think they got it mixed up as they indeed have resistance based analog inputs
they didn't work with selecting digital, I thought they would have but don't. they're connected to the analog input and operate on voltage.
@@tony.nextlevelrides that weird you cut the resistor already and short circuit them to work with OE harness digital logic.
So do you have to do this for paddles to work on 8hp swap?
yes, unfortunately.
@@tony.nextlevelrides damn
What’s the advantage of grounding type paddles over resistance type?
Resistance one has faster response and uses only one wire for up and down mainly new technology also to check if there is fault easy to determine
new tech vs old tech I guess, technically mine are now activated with 5V? lol
how do you know which goes to 5v out?
Can't recall the color off the top of my head, I know the cantcu has the wiki and pinout that were more than helpful!
where did you get can tcu program for pc?
directly from Ken, might be available on the website.
@@tony.nextlevelrides do you know why my e90n55 with hp8 45 with 8hp shifter wont go into gear it just shows park?
was this auto or manual to begin wit?
it was always auto.
