i think the best thing about this WoW journey for you is all the friends youre making along the way its fun to see you in a group setting for a change grub much love
I agree. My only request is that his wife form a character as well, I enjoy watching her very much. One day I wish to have a wife just like her in all respects down to the last detail. My last girlfriend was a long distance relationship that lost most of my money in crypto investing. This time will be better, here's hoping.
Grubby, I'm sure youre aware, but your situation is so incredibly unique. Not only is this basically your first time playing this game (which in and of itself is pretty amazing) but you began with this massive community of people, your guild of streamers, that was there to have fun with you and help you. Yes, WoW is a very social game, and guilds are not uncommon, but what you walked into is incredibly unique and rare. Sodapoppin really should be given a heap of praise for what he put together.
Having fun and meaningful connections is something that happens in WoW and guilds all the time. It is by no means exclusive to streamers. I get if you don't like blizzard, but don't throw the community under the bus.
@@Darkcranio yea I get that. I am not a fan of scream streamers at all. They're terrible imo. To that end, yea, sodapoppin is not worthy of praise. I'm simply saying he put work into putting together this community. Because of this lots of new people are not only playing wow and having lots of fun that would have otherwise never bothered (Grubby), but new people are enjoying watching too. I think that's pretty cool.
I always knew soda seemed chill but damn he's a cool guy, from the shenanigans of you coaching him in warcraft to you playing world of warcraft, and getting to meet so many people, looks like a real blast
Would love to see a tier list of favorite WoW zones! As one of the most experienced WC3 players I absolutely adore seeing your takes on the lore and worldbuilding.
Grubby has been my bridge into enjoying the current wow content. I love seeing the the classic game enjoyed for the first time by so many people. Wow classic is all fan service, and the community that pushed it to this height probably feels extreme reward and gratitude from seeing new players find that magic. (I especially like seeing it through a Warcraft 3 players lense.) The way you ask questions and have been breaking down mechanics has actually been teaching the older players as well. The social connection is great from the Onlyfangs movement, especially Grubby. I love to see the streamers building their empire in this way
To be fair, the only thing classic has changed is the legal ability of streamers to play it. Non-streamers could play it long before and for free. The legal system is cringe. - Adûnâi
This WoW hardcore event almost reminds me of WoW on launch with the social aspect. Classic didn't capture that for me when I went back and tried it, and of course its completely gone from retail. You also talked about your first time seeing WC3 monsters in WoW. A memory that will stick with me forever is seeing Abominations and Ziggurats when I loaded up the stress test they did pre-launch as a 10 y/o kid, since I loved Undead in WC3.
Seeing meatwagons and abominations in the under city, which you destroyed as Arthas. Seeing glaive throwers and ancients of war, the orc encampment in the forest that you created as Grom WoW classic hits different when you know the lore
It's been a lot of fun watching you play world of warcraft, having fun leveling and just enjoying yourself, your streams are relaxing, and I feel like I learn more about you as a person and a fellow gamer. It's been inspiring to watch you go from Warcraft 3 to WoW, I look forward to seeing you hit level 60 and do some raids. Maybe I'll try wow hardcore one day and see how far I get.
Also next year there will be Burning Crusade Classic! I play through all of the retail expansions but really struggle to get into anything for longer than a month or so. I usually resubscribe and level to max and do a few dungeons and the raid maybe and then go back to classic BC/WotLK or other games. Happy you're here!
Ahhh hearing your experience as both a newer player to classic wow and to hardcore has been so much fun!! Ive only been watching your videos, also playing a mage for my first time in classic, and watching you try aoe mage inspired me to try it, and it's SUCH a unique experience. Even though I don't do much of classic wow with other people, it's super cool to see how you start using your other utility spells so much more. Mage has SO much more utility than a lot of other classes-- you can just slow enemies or root them so they no longer harass ranged players, or save people running away. Even if I die and lose my character forever, I've made lotsa fun memories meeting new people and trying something new. Super looking forward to how your experience goes!! And congrats on living so far, and getting to do SO much of the dungeon content!
So cool to see you enjoy All of this for the first time. I was lucky enough to play classic originallg back in 2004-2005. But came back again for the re-release in 2019. If you enjoy challenging content you should try retail next.
The best dungeon in the game is of course without a doubt Blackrock Depths. Its so insanely large its more like an underground zone. I think retail really went way too streamlined in its goal not to confuse and annoy their players. So, none of the more modern dungeons have the complexity and variety of Blackrock Depths. It also has some great and more unique areas and bosses mechanics-wise. The bar is of course great, the Seven is another interesting boss fight. The Lyceum is fun and different. Really hope Grubby makes it to a high enough level he can check it out.
Really fun to see you interacting with the WoW community, and other communities too. The Tyler1 event for WC3 was hilarious, and I think this kind of networking opportunity opens the door to more of that kind of thing in the future too. Playing DOTA with Synderen and Dendi, or going to the RWF to commentate (they need people who don't know too!) would be really cool.
I think reaching level 60 shouldn't be too hard now. I also managed to do it on my 2nd attempt and I think you have learned enough about what it takes. But raiding in HC? That's a bravery I wasn't able to muster. I've done a few Level 60 5 man-dungeons and then stopped playing that character. I raided in Non-HC-classic and while a lot of stuff isn't particularly hard, some specific bosses we definitely needed several tries because one mistake from one person can easily cost everyone their life. And without ever practicing these fights before in a more forgiving environment, it's hard to imagine noone making such crucial mistake.
Take time to read and understand all the Weatern + Eastern Plaguelands quests (its such a dangerous zone). I think you will really appreciate the lore. A lot of the names tie into WC3.
12:43 - this is what I most wanted to hear about because it must be amazing for a huge WC3 player to see WOW for the first time because of all the shared world and unit types..
Love it! I hope we can see you in the raids, that would be awesome! I'd also love to see you play alliance the next time :) I think you will really like the zones if you're into arathi highlands and ashenvale! Everyone also kinda of agrees that the alliance storyline is better, just because blizz did alliance content first and kind of ran out of time when designing the horde quests so they were a bit rushed
Don't worry about not making it to 60 on time for the raids. People will keep dying, especially in raids, and more people will have to come to replace them.
Hey, Grubby! Being among the top 0.8% of your YT fans (according to my 2024 gaming recap) is so much fun-thanks a lot! It's great that you're exploring different games. I miss your Direct Strike content and your interaction with the chat during DS gameplay. Hopefully, one day you'll discover and share the true depth of hardcore Heroes of Might and Magic 3-maybe with coaching from your WC3 NE rival, Voodoosh. Who knows? It's so special to find such an elite, like-minded content creator like you.
I'll warn you now that you're not going to find any enjoyment out of Retail, there is no social interaction, or any kind of enjoyment the way classic does it. I tried to get back into it and server chat and guild chat is dead, nobody talking about anything other than M+ keys or raging in PVP.
Little late to the video but I really enjoy the way you go about playing games just how you take a step back from what you where doing to see what other options you have and really try the things that you genuinely seem interested in. this is espically apparent in your wow, but really everytime I see you play something or try something new this approach has insipired me
It's a shame there aren't solo story mode versions of all of the group content like Raids so you can reliably experience the story in chronological order. Granted for a lot of them you can out-level them and just brute force your way through out-leveled content, but sometimes there is a tricky boss encounter with weird mechanics that don't work without a group.
3 weeks in and you’re one of our favorite wow streamers already. Been really cool to watch you learn the game. You’re both funny and super respectful and incredibly entertaining. Appreciate you bringing your talents into our world!
enjoyed your summary. it's been a pleasure following your classic hardcore journey! all the interactions with different people in dungeons or out in the world has been one of the highlights for me fo sure
One of the things I liked the most when playing was seeing the stuff from WC3 in game. Like watch towers in the barrens and Ancients in Ashenvale. I didn't even do the social aspect as much because I was immersed in the world
What you should do imo to get the full experience is once OnlyFangs runs is course, transfer your character to one of the classic servers that will progress eventually through the expansions. You've started at the perfect time to take advantage of that with the new servers.
Classic's dungeons, although mechanically are quite simple, can get extremely intense. Even in very experienced groups, things can go south fast. Dungeon and raids is how I play WoW and will always love that aspect of it.
Hearing you describe your enjoyment of the big scary pull in Blackfathom Deeps makes me want to see you try Mythic Plus if you ever end up giving retail another try. The stakes would be lower, but there’s some of the same excitement of managing big pulls of enemies with a group. Hope you keep enjoying the game, and make it to 60.
It’s been so awesome to see you experiencing wow for the first time and it’s so great to see how much you’re enjoying it! Looking forward to the continued journey ahead ❤
Yea, I would love to be able to Hardcore, but just do not have the time to be able to risk 100s of hours of time invested going bye bye. Ahhh to be a streamer. Im not jealous, ok I am
Best part about HC wow is that everyone recognizes that it's a journey. That journey is also shared among everyone on their way to 60. I miss that in retail and that makes retail less fun. You just queue up for everything and questing is a lot slower than just spamming dungeons so you don't really see anyone in the world past the starting zone.
You have been my highlight of fresh hardcore. Watching you learn the game and travel through the world with entrigue and excitement has me hooked. Hopefully I’ll get to do a dungeon with you 1 day. My rogue is currently 26 as I work 60 hours a week but I’ll get there. See you in Azeroth 💪
It's been cool to watch your WoW content. I usually get bored of Classic but I've made a few toons (both on regular classic realms and hardcore). Retail is complicated but I much prefer it personally. Though I think you starting with Classic is really the perfect path for you since you kinda get to experience it the same way as everyone else who loved the RTS games before WoW came out and they tried that. I definitely recommend checking out retail eventually, but for now, keep enjoying Classic!
Walking into stormwind, and hearing the music for the first time as alliance is amazing. Elwin Forrest is really cool. I’m not a fan of the alliance in wow, but the stormwind music is epic
Me and my buddies used to play w3 tft back in the days. I have lost contact with all of them since. Now i am reliving what i missed. I am playing wow for the first time as well.
I must say the only fangs event with the point system is super fun idea, i love to watch it! Also I love to watch u play WoW, it feels like u are a time travler from 2004, just played wc3 and loved it now discover this crazy game based of the startegy game u love^^
What an amazing experience it has been watching a gamer of your caliber in the RTS realm play and experience the hidden gem that is WOW hardcore. I look forward to seeing you hit 60 and raid.
I have been playing WoW on and off for 20 years. Watching some of you play for the first time and having a good time puts a smile on my face. You get it.
Glad youre having fun dude. You seem like a very positive player. I have to be honest with you though, at lvl 42, youre basically only halfway to 60, and they are probably the most dangerous levels ahead. Keep your head on a swivel buddy. Glad youre enjoying the game
I leveled horde first and only played horde for like 5 years, but the alliance experience is more polished and better over all for pve and they have the Onyxia quest line.
Wonderful, thanks grubby. I hope you keep enjoying classic and I'll look forward to more wc3 content as well. I would really recommend avoiding playing retail...
@13:56 hahaha, in 20 years. Most of my guilds and raids are NOT like that. Hardcore for me, the levelling experience. For raiding and end game, i rather get classic or sod. The instant deaths can get you really offguard there.
You might like the later expansions and raids as well be it non-hardcore. Cool to follow your journey, did not know you before you started WoW. Groetjes
It's so funny to me that I have dreamt several times that your mage died, I guess it's true that hardcore adds a whole dimention to the game and the characters ^^ Love to follow your journey Grubby!
Glad you're enjoying Wow ❤ do you consider playing fresh pvp servers at some point in the future to experience the pvp aspects of the game as well ? You mentioned pvp but wasn't sure if it's in a retail or classic wow context 😅
Thing is it's the mmorpg. If you have a nice community and players to interact with it's amazing. If you don't... Well then it's kinda boring. Loved to play it in the past but all my recent tries within the last 10 years left me disappointed with the exception of some month wotlk classic.
As a retail player it’s a whole different game no adventure, the leveling is a joke hence why they let you pay for a character boost so you can start end game content asap. It is however harder in terms of raids or if you plan to arena.
Back in the day of vanilla, when we were on vent or teamspeak - it was a big deal to be on comms. And even in a raiding guild, if you abused the chat - you were muted or most the time just kicked from the raid. There was like no toleration of childish behavior. As kid going into these things with adult raid leaders it was annoying and bossy. I mean i never was abusing comms but it was annoying that i had to fullfill requirements like bring my own pot buffs, food, etc... i had to make alts and level them just to get materials for my own buffs until guilds had supply cache or provided pots. It was just very responsible. I wasnt always top dps as a hunter but i was up their and there was a hunter chat of the guild and they would be jealous of me. So i just started making all of them amo as an engineer and giving them blue ammo. I also pugged a raid as a trial and they DE giantstalker shoulers instead of giving them to me to supply to the guild bank because i didn't prove myself. Very very very irritating and wasteful. I even had tranq shot and things other hunters didnt provide. Luckily for me a senew dropped in MC and they couldn't destroy it and i autolooted it as a quest item. First pug hunter on server to get the quest for the bow, should have been legendary if that concept existed much back then. But it really put me at an advantage with a bigger ammo bag. When others ran out of ammo and had to buy crap ammo from vendor...i had ample supply. Anyways... I got lost l in somewhat good times and it was overly serious and the adults kicked people out of voice coms. Eventually I was kicked from the guild after i complained that another hunter who was invited got giant stalker pieces during his trial because he was guild leaders irl friend and i was higher on dps meter and his pet pulled mob in mc and wiped guild. I was also one of the first to get my mats for my ony cloak and mc attune mats. I berated the guild and how stupid it was in general and they got a bad rep for kicking me out and keeping my materials. Someone from the guild asked me to stop and I said it wasnt fair, i literally herb, mine, make food, provide ammo and was a try hard to join. He gave me all my stuff and even made me an ony cloak, my mats and paid me like 10g to stop giving them a bad name. After that ordeal, I said forget it, and went hardcore PvP. Got to HWL as a pug, first pug to do it and disrupted this whole gated system that existed that only a few people knew about where people were inline to get it. It wasn't real but that story is for another time. Then my gear was better than theirs from MC/BWL and it wasnt until AQ40 or Naxx till they caught up with me. Look at me lost in nostalgia again.
Grubby, I have loved WoW forever. I hope you one day try the retail game. Different from classic. Very different. But also the combat still feels the same and is great. But wrapped up diffferently.
You should start a second character allready and level him up just a bit like to level 10 so he can farm rested exp while you dont use him. Belive me you dont wanna start ever by level 1
Love your content! Even if you would die, you could always make it in time to raid, if you would level with the RestedXP addon. Best of luck to stay alive!
You and Hera or Viper doing an AoE2/WC3 collab stream would be awesome! The AoE community forced Microsoft to keep caring and working on the game, and it has exploded in popularity and tournament size! Also they're the 2 greatest RTS games in history so more fan crossover is a no brainer.
Great fucking job Grubby. You made by buy a subscription, and I'm now left with 50h/week on this game, full on enjoyment and a minor wrist injury (but seriously, your videos made me get into the Anniversary servers and Im re-enjoying everything anew since I played it last time 19 years ago (yes, i was there when the beta came out)).
Grubby is addicted to wow, but he wont admit it. He is so deep he forgot his duties, i m still waiting for thise hero spoylight videos :) Absolutely love wow content! Keep the addiction goin!
i hope you can all try retail ... but retail have to fix some shit with the matchmaking .. unless you play in similar fashion when you are premades But starting with classic is very good anyway ... Because what retail miss is .. character connection building
This is making me want to play classic...maybe not hardcore cause I'm a naturally reckless person so I think I'd die like 100 times and never make it past 20, but it's making me very nostalgic for old WoW...back when WoW felt like a real world and not just sort of a veneer over loot systems and various grinds. Also I love how much old WoW was directly based off Warcraft 3 whereas now it's gone so far off the beaten track that it might as well be a completely different franchise.
I think you're going to have just as much fun, if not more, playing Alliance! I also highly recommend playing The Burning Crusade expansion, it's become known over the years as the definitive Classic WoW experience.
my last nightmare about dying in HC was yesterday/today, I somehow had pvp enabled and got killed in Orgrimmar by a lvl 51 hunter (got a 34 mage). He however was oneshot trying to run out and we chatted afterwards :D
You are the best addition to WoW community so far. Feels relatable and also kind. We are on a journey with you 🎉
nah second best. tyler1 got first place
I’m warming up to Tyler1 but he’s a train wreck😂 Grubby is so fun to watch! 💪✌️❤️

Classic WoW is a social game designed for introverts.
Payo, Pilav, Dendi interactions were very hype. I can't wait for you to meet savix.
SAVIXD
Oh hell yeah

Savix is boss
Has Grubby ever seen the old PvP montages such as by Drakedog or Cobrak?

Waint until Maraudon and blackrock depths. This 2 dungeons are the most perfect ones.

I’m not a fan of the alliance in wow, but the stormwind music is epic
you can level on the non hardcore servers on alliance side and enjoy the TBC expansion that unlocks next year
Me and my buddies used to play w3 tft back in the days.
You get it.
I hope you'll try out different classes soon, an Orc Shaman for example
Love to see you enjoy wow HC mate. Wish you a great holiday season
Glad youre having fun dude. You seem like a very positive player. I have to be honest with you though, at lvl 42, youre basically only halfway to 60, and they are probably the most dangerous levels ahead. Keep your head on a swivel buddy. Glad youre enjoying the game
I absolutely love to see you experience this for the first time, and in hardcore too, I think that makes it even more enjoyable to follow
Very nice, thanks for the wrapup, liked it a lot.
Great to hear all the friends you're making! This is what MMOs used to be all about, instead of maximizing xp/h or loot/h.
You might like the later expansions and raids as well be it non-hardcore. Cool to follow your journey, did not know you before you started WoW. Groetjes
proximity chat sounds pretty interesting
It's so funny to me that I have dreamt several times that your mage died, I guess it's true that hardcore adds a whole dimention to the game and the characters ^^
Love to follow your journey Grubby!
Moving from Classic to Retail will be an eye opener for you ... have fun !!
Really enjoying your content and great fresh attitude to this old game. Welcome to the community!
Keep going in wow :) loving the content and the nice social colabs !
Right on point when I first played 18 years ago, seeing the units in game was awesome
What did he saaaaay? DotA!
Also let's get grubby on kai cenat show loooool!
Love to see you play WoW, would be fun to see you play some retail with Gingi and naowh & do some M+ in the future. :D
Man just wait for BRD *chefskiss*
Grubby, I have loved WoW forever. I hope you one day try the retail game. Different from classic. Very different. But also the combat still feels the same and is great. But wrapped up diffferently.
Nice video, but don't mix up your experience vs normal players experiences, because you get guided and helped so so much.
You should start a second character allready and level him up just a bit like to level 10 so he can farm rested exp while you dont use him. Belive me you dont wanna start ever by level 1
“13-year-olds’ drama class” is a good analogy for OnlyFangs meetings, lol
Watching this recap makes me realize how much I've watched you live
It makes me happy that you are seeing the game the same way we did 20 years ago. It really was an incredible game. Btw raiders are in durotar!
"I would play this if there were no other races" quiet a compliment for the gnomes
A very wholesome and welcome member to our communiy!
Love your content! Even if you would die, you could always make it in time to raid, if you would level with the RestedXP addon. Best of luck to stay alive!
A lot of players playing with Tyler1 are dropping like flies...
I can't believe Grubby didn't played Wow back in 2004. He was very invested in Warcraft 3 back in then i thought he would be playing it.
Been playing Turtle WoW alongside you Grubby 😂 Hope you have fun and make it to 60
Great fucking job Grubby.
Definitely keep making long form videos like this you have such a bubbly personality
Grubby is addicted to wow, but he wont admit it. He is so deep he forgot his duties, i m still waiting for thise hero spoylight videos :)
Absolutely love wow content! Keep the addiction goin!
i hope you can all try retail ... but retail have to fix some shit with the matchmaking .. unless you play in similar fashion when you are premades
But starting with classic is very good anyway ...
Its been an absolute joy watching you play wow ! Cant wait to see you in MC
I still have not played. I am going to play when it goes free to play.
I'm glad you're enjoying this great game. There aren't many that compete with WC3.
Where can I find the background you have behind you? Looks very coiol and makes me want to play
"[This is] when Dantes hadn't died yet"
Man, times were simpler back then.
