- Hello,
This is my epic journey through the classic old Minecraft modpack called Gregtech: New Horizons aka GTNH
But instead of playing it in a normal world, I'm playing it in a void world starting out with nothing...
Yup!
Literally, NOTHING!!!
The challenge is called "Garden of Grind"
I'm playing and recording this through the Prism Minecraft modpack Launcher.
*here's a link to the .pdf if you're crazy enough to give this challenge a go for yourself(updated!);

Thanks for watching me suffer lols!
🤣
#gregtech #skyblock #oldminecraft
I’m gonna say this now…
THIS FARM IS INSANE!!!
Bro ! oneblock Gregtech
next up is a sorting system so you can end all the possible headaches of that mob farm.
You can use slime channel or blood channel instead of water to move the mobs and items in the direction you want
Theres also a block called conveyor (dont mistake it with the conveyor covers) but conveyors are really expensive, but it only use lv resources to craft em. Conveyors can move items and mobs and enderman wont teleport out of the farm
Basically the new mod in question is Angelica, which is a backport of Embeddium / Sodium. So that is why optifine isn't around.
it’s a lot better than optifine anyways, you can probably configure the zoom in mod config and it’s most likely going to be more effective for optimizations considering how well embeddium/sodium does at speeding up the game in comparison
greg
It’s impressive how Sodium covers both Forge/Fabric and is now back at 1.7.10
I think Gregtech has a single-block tank bottling for the buckets doesn't need power in the early game, just put the buckets in and get filled buckets out. Having trouble finding it though
edit: ULV fluid tank, or a fluid hatch
Input/output hatches. One of them. Multiblock part, but works fine by itself.
@@alexeikolokolcev3232 that wasn't the thing I was thinking of but that would definitely work yea
Yes its the LV or ULV Tank
I suppose if you use an output hatch it will auto output the fluid...?
@@KaneYork might be better to use the input hatch to preclude the need for a pump/pipes
So many things I've never seen in GTNH! Almost 3 ingame years; how many hours have you spent on it so far?
"A one block wide path above the void? That's for beginners... I'll run across a ¼ block wide pipe." 😂
I think you would like using Schematica, its built into the modpack, you just assign the keybinds. You would be able to copy from creative and place a build guide for things like the mob farm. Loving the series so far! keep it up. :D
wait what theres schematica here???
when using a wrench (or any other gregtech tool) on a gregtech block, you can interact with the corners and it will affect the opposite side. so in 42:50 you didn't need to jump to reach the top side of the pipe, you could've just used the wrench on the corners in the front!
Definitely my favorite series on UA-cam right now.
If you shift right click on the gregtech pumps with an empty hand you can open their ui to configure them, which is much easier than a screwdriver.
Using the assembler you can now make resistors and vacuum tubes for half the cost.
Definitely use the gregtech ulv/lv tank to make exp buckets, it’s a lot faster and doesn’t take power
spectre glass doesn’t seem to let light through, so it isn’t transparent (in terms of blocks) it’s just transparent (in terms of seeing through it). another example of a block with these properties is extra utilities dark glass
Literally tinted glass from vanilla
@@daniiii888 It took Mojang 10 versions to add it.
Greg tech pipes are kinda of buggy and let fuilds move in wierdy so its adviced to to restrict the flow directions using the wrench ( basicly make sure the arrow is going in the right direction so the exp or steam arent going back and forth in pipe )
Once you have access to an EBF and aluminium you should be going for EnderIO conduits over transfer nodes. Generally viewed to be the best piping system before AE2.
Noted!
Cheers for that
Even after u get ae2 their still very useful to save power and resources on interfaces and buses
Steel dust can be turned back into ingots using the TiCon smeltery.
Wrench the pipes along the way from the tank to the bottler so that it only goes the right way. That will reduce "sloshing" which is when liquids go back and forth in the pipe at random.
Good point, I’ll do that thanks :)
Hey Dan! Loving the videos man, still wanna give you the little tip to use the chemical reactor recipe at this point to make rubber into liquid rubber and solidify it into sheets in the fluid solidifier. You get 11 "ingots" worth of rubber for one recipe, much better than the alloy smelter shenanigans
If you have something that pushes items (like a hopper, machine output or conveyor), you should be able to use GT item pipes, cheapest of which is tin. Tin pipes aren't good, so you might need a big pipe, but they are more flexible than hoppers
I recommend looking into the redlon for redstone, and alchemical duplication with thaumcraft for other materials in nugget form!
The IC2 toolbox is also great because you can open it, and move the toolbox's position in your inventory without your character dropping it on the ground and closing the GUI. Very useful when your inventory is a little too packed and you need to get a tool out into your hotbar but it's full.
Yea I’ve noticed that, very handy indeed
an explainatiom on that cauldron might be that you scrolled for circuit 20 in that assembler, and the cauldron recipe instantly started when you scrolled past 7
that's why while scrolling is convenient, you should always click into the ghost circuit slot and toggle it manually if there's ever any item in it
Makes sense, thanks for explaining
:)
You should look into ULV tanks (or eio tanks) for filling buckets , they dont need power
Yeah it'll be an easy swap out for the bottler once you have LV conveyors
@@KaneYork Why'd you need LV conveyors? he uses hoppers anyway in that setup and that should be enough. Only thing that would need conveyors would be the EIO tank and that is probably the slower option
It's kinda funny that this setup didn't even need the steam cause you could replace the bottler with a gt tank and it would work
The sheer number of things this man is having to power with a single LV steam turbine, oh man
Oof!
Loving this series so much!
maybe using some pumps to get the xp out of the vacum hopper rather than depening on their own output rate would help.
Have you taken a look at neurotic goose's series? They're not playing with the same exact rules as you but they seem to have quite a few tricks up their sleeves. They used transfer nodes for crafting which I reckon is more unwieldy than this but you might be able to take a page or two out of their book.
Yea I’m aware, but honestly I don’t want to watch anyone else doing this kind of challenge as I want to tackle problems my own way.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING
Consider doing more thaumcraft to unlock the nuggets replicating recipes whenever possible.
Yup, definitely need to do more researches to unlock more
Fun fact! You can stand on multiple xp drains at a time, up to 4, to speed up the transfer of xp!
Desactivated the pollution
If you shift-right click with an empty hand on a pump it should bring up a configuration menu. Been a while, but pretty sure that's how to do it.
cant ya get the growth modifier with a wood handle or was that not added yet
Heads up but you can power RF machines using GT generators (gas, steam, combustion). It might need a cable inbetween, but it does directly power with EU, and actually at a ratio that's better than an RF generator (iirc. 1EU = 3.2RF?)
You can rename your tools on the tool station for free
I thought that was a search bar hhahaha
Why have the middle of the mob farm with no glass? Won’t they just fall through anyways?
you can use ultra low voltage fluid tank from greg for filling your buckets with xp
i suggest a pipe directly onto the vac hoppers
You can fill buckets of XP in a ULV tank without needing power. Get rid of that forestry bottler.
What ULV Tank…
Do you mean using the input/output hatches for multi blocks?
@@gardenofgrind Ultra Low Voltage Fluid Tank and other variations of this
Howd he end up making the pipes and transfer node? I thought u said they were mv or am i misremembering
It was just for the recipe with the assembler that I couldn’t use, so I just ended up hand crafting them
If you can't get more alumite to repair the pickaxe, maybe use a wooden tool rod?(I dont know if there is another material that auto repairs) It will auto repair over time, maybe lower durability but you got diamond on it and alumite, maybe it can still be good. Worth a check
Or mending moss
This is an older version of tinkers. Wood doesn't auto repair here. Sorry!
@@MrGufai ah, thanks for enlightening me!
moss was the repair modifier back then, dunno if Dan has access to mossy cobble, some packs let you place cobble next to water I dont know about this pack.
Baller series
Can't the Multiblick tanks fill up buckets? I thought you can hooper in an empty bucket and it gets filled automatically...
Tried that, even from the valve.
I think it’s only for player interaction
Finxed one silly thing just to immediatly do another lol. Renaming tinker's tools is free at the tool forge...
i was looking for it
Hype!
Can you place 4 drains on a tank and stand a bit over each of them? Might quadruple your xp into tank speed
Yes, but the problem is if I was to remove the drains and replace them I would loose the current xp in the tank
I thought u dont need energy for forestry bottler. Maybe I'm misremembering
How did you made those pipes that needed mv power?
Are talking about the brass ones, I just centrifuged cobalt brass dust to extract the brass from that.
Then just cooked the dust in the furnace(like I showed) then used the bending machine etc…
If you can't progress much further you can actually go and make some custom recipes not so overpowered bcs it will ruin the whole point but you will be able to progress much further in the pack. Just an idea bcs it will be a shame to put an end to the series bcs you can't progress further just because you can't craft something,
Everything in GOG is completable except for a couple specific endgame items that make it impossible to get Stargate, and sadly devs have already said they aren't gonna add support for challenge runs, contrary to what the quest book says.
The devs for gtnh are in general kind of idiotic
Please upload in higher quality
What do you mean?
@@gardenofgrind the resolution of the uploads have been really grainy, it’s hard to see refined textures like numbers. It should be a setting when you upload, try uploading in a higher quality so it’s more immersive. I love your series!
@@ianoconnor1022 Isn’t 1080p good enough for you?!
Huh
@@gardenofgrindis it 1080p? I can’t see on my end, when I press settings>quality it just says unavailable. I wonder if youtube is compressing it somehow, because it’s not 1080p on my end
@@ianoconnor1022 Ohh, hmm this is very odd.
I never experienced this issue before…
When I upload it’s always a day before(at most) to make sure it’s done all its processes/checks for my videos, to make sure it’s at 1080p ready for release.
I don’t really know what else to say, sorry.
:(
Day 8 of asking
@gardenofgrind at the end of the series could your enormous gigantic mega base take up a 63by63 region files and it has outside and inside decoration such as houses, pathways/streets, signs, parks ETC...?
