Thanks for the info. I did leave a comment on your first video about fuchsia gall mite but then heard you mention this update. Thanks again.

Thank you for this information. We have wondered what was wrong with our fuchsia the last couple of years! Cutting effected areas and the prolonged freezing temps did not fix it. Hoping it disappears next year but doubtful.

Hello Icy Diamond, sorry to hear that you have a gall mite. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to disappear next year but keep a eye on it and as soon as you see the first evidence of gall put out the sachets of preditor mites. Good luck, Simon

Fuchsia will take hard pruning. Have you tried cutting them back to the base?

Hi there. No I have not tried that, but to be fair, I can see several issues with doing that. Have you had success with a cut back to the base in the summer? I would be interested to find out. Simon

Ah, yes, the dreaded fuchsia gall mite. When I lived in an area affected by these critters it wiped out all my beloved fuchsias year after year. I ended up growing fuchsias as annuals. Now, mercifully, I live in an area currently unaffected by these critters. Pleased to hear there is a remedy should I need one in the future. Thanks for the info.

Hello Oolong, we have had some bad years here with the mite but your experience with it sounds far worse. Its something we just live with here. If we get a cold enough winter it will knock it back further down the year but it never goes away. Simon
