@RabbiNirMenussi Two years ago I discovered my great grandmother was Jewish yet I am realistically not accepted as a Jew (as I was brought up Christian), yet in my country Northern Ireland I am unable to convert to Judism because we only have a Orthodox Synagogue and there are not many Jewish people in my country. I wish to convert to Progressive/Liberal Judism but there is no one to assist my learning (although I have bought books and the Hebrew bible to learn myself). Anti Semitism should not awaken and bring together all Jews...Jews should be fully awake to their lineage, heritage, religion, culture and these are the united bonds each shares as a community of faithful people to God. Anti Semitism will probably always exist from certain people who God created as beautiful but that beauty from their Creator turned ugly against the Jewish people. It is like weeds choking a beautiful flower but if you treat the weeds and in their place plant seeds with God's guidance a new flower will grow and fully bloom! What is going on in the world these days is truly disturbing, and so are some of the comments I have read through just now. Some I have responded to, most not. I despair for the human race. Having been raised as a Christian, the so-called sanctimonious, intolerant ones annoy me the most. They may know the bible chapter and verse but have no understanding of what it is all about. One of my great uncles was a minister with the United Church. I only met him a couple of times, as he didn't live close by, but my father new him well. I don't recall much of the conversation I had with my father one day, but he told me that his uncle explained the teachings this way: the bible is a guidebook for how to live your life and get along with other people. I think that pretty much sums it all up. This belief was further brought home to me on another day, in 1967. I was at Expo, in Montreal, looking down on a wide swath of people coming towards and past the little hill I was on. People from all over the world, every colour, every language, all moving together, some coming, some going. No fighting, arguing or violence. No pushing or shoving. As a child, I marveled at the beauty of it all! How I long for those days. Was the world at peace, then? No, it wasn't. But in that beautiful oasis, I visited Russia, the UK, the US, Czechoslovakia, Japan, and a host of other countries, and all were at peace, all got along. Why is it that some people think they have the right to force others to believe as they do, to think as they do? Whatever happened to the old adage of "When in Rome, do as the Romans do"? Now, it seems to be "Think exactly like I do, or else". Why are there so many wrong-headed people out there? Where did they come from? Why are they so easily brainwashed by others whose sole intent is to cause harm? Can they not think for themselves? Do they have no analytical skills at all? I will tell you this - I am all too aware of what is happening. I will always step in to defend those who need defending, and I will always speak out against those who are set on destroying civilized society. I'm no youngster, anymore, but it doesn't matter. What is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong. Yes, the anti-semtism is completely irrational. I have never understood it. Just as I have never understood hating someone based on the colour of their skin. You are either a good person or a bad person, with most of us in between, and depending on the day.
