Me too but the animation is so weird
there's two aspects to it, the visual story, and the auditory one. in the auditory one, the song, the singer wants to escape, and that's simply all there is. it's a song about disappearing, but not quite the disappearance that true death grants. it's a poetic escape, one that idolizes the nothingness that death gives, without dealing with the consequences that death has.
visually, and this is from a point of view separate from the dhmis series, the story is of a man trying to find meaning. he's a pervert who spies on his neighbour and who's heavily into porn, and tries to find a reason for it, a reason to his madness in someone who should have all of the answers, a psychiatrist, but the man is masturbating too--he's as much a feeble fleshy human thing as our protagonist. he has no meaning to give. he then tries to find meaning in something greater than him--the people on the tv. he'll never meet them, and they're famous, and on tv, so they're important. the chef has found a subjective meaning to life--and it's in his craft. the chef simply cooks on tv. so with that in mind, the protagonist tries to find meaning in the stereotypical way that many like him in the movies have done--in art, in nature. he's laughed at by everything, even though he spent genuine time and work on it. in a meaningless world, the pursuit of meaning is often seen as meaningless, or as pretentious and unneeded. finally, the protagonist returns home, unable to find meaning, and being ridiculed for his pursuit, but then he finds that he's the subject of someone fantasy. he smiles at the end and is happy because he has come to terms with the fact that there is no objective meaning, and that he's not the only sorrowful nobody out in the world, but that he's one of billions. the end.

I can't understand why this song was not a major hit? I haven't heard it since today.
I played this song once when my girlfriend and I were chilling on the couch enjoying each others presence and the love we had for each other. Due to circumstances out of our control we have been dating long distance now for over a month and it almost feels like I'm dating an idea and not a person. What she admitted to me later is she shazamed this song when I played it and kept it, now she often plays it, driving in the sunset, thinking of me, whenever I hear it too now, I think of her. Its become our song. She made a pottery clay of a shark and wrote swim + sleep on the bottom of it in reference to the song, but also to tease me because that is basically what my daily routine consists of. Anyways this song makes me think of her and miss her so much, and its crazy how much unrelated meaning a song can gather... Music is a crazy thing.

It seems to be a song and video about C-PTSD. The trauma, the trying to understand the trauma, the inability to and escape to substance abuse, the desperate attempts at finding meaning, and the ending with the trauma coming full circle which i think means he was able to fully incorporate his trauma into his worldview and move on
