Hi Lydia! Very excited for this cover, Btw its me lydia if you remeber me from your 24hour livestream, Which was so funny, I showed my aunt your singing we gonna make a cover, she though it was me! XD I told her it was you and She was like.... "THATS NOT YOU?" Wheezing, Anyways have a great day!
This was the Love Store cover I didn't know I needed. Also this got me thinking of what a cover like this for "You Belong with Me" would be like. After imagining it in my head I got some major stalker vibes. Please make it happen.
I feel like the original feels like an innocent love story while this one feels more like the actual story of Romeo and Juliet. Great singing as usual Lydia :)
. frfr i was waiting for the mention of death and daggers and poison, doctors, a grave, their love night, their plan but none of it came snd im honestly so happy abt it ❤
"I lined up a shot and pulled out a ring..." I can picture it now: Juliet holding Romeo at gunpoint and giving him a ring, her silent message clear as day: "Marry me or die." Also, when she says she "talked to her dad," she really means she told him she was marrying Romeo whether he liked it or not and put a bullet in his head when he tried to stop her.
Maybe it's a murder-suicide? Juliet's father didn't approve of her dating Romeo, so she told him she was going to see Romeo one last time to end things in person. She just didn't say *how* she would end it. If they couldn't be together in life, they would be together forever in death. And the white dress is for her funeral.
I love how this version of the song is portrayed similarity to the original Romeo and Juliet story. In modern culture, Romeo and Juliet tends to mean true love, but everyone forgets that they both end up dead in the end
Shakespeare only wrote the play (in one drunken night) because his patron demanded that he wrote a teenage romance like the audience wanted. So he made a yo mama joke filled story about the stupidity, and often disastrous, outcome of teenage romance. People don't seem to understand that this isn't romantic, it's a comedy that ends in tragedy. It itself is an oxymoron...
I never saw it as romantic as well 😂 always found their deaths pointless and when I call a couple Romeo and Juliet,I mean they would likely end up burning everything to the ground with their ‘love’
I love the details of the background dialogue in the vocals, gives the lyrics a different "romantic" scenario which it's just unrequited love with a huge situation of denial about how problematic Romeo is.
You sure? It looks like Juliette was the one who was problematic. "Juliette don't" could have been Romeo begging for his life and "Stay away from Juliette" sounded like a warning because of how dangerous she is. She wanted her happy ending so she forced him by gun point
@@HalfAnd_Half sorta like that, I think it's a mutual toxic relationship but I feel like Juliet becomes obsessive, in other words, problematic but Romeo had signs from others for being problematic too, from the start.
I also got that vibe!! He picked the wrong (emotionally unstable) girl to toy with-and she got him back in the end. From the tone of Juliet's father's voice, he came across as overly controlling and quick to anger, which could make Juliet more vulnerable to Romeo's charms as he would appear to be the "prince" that could save her. I enjoy analyzing problematic characters and media, so this is just my interpretation :)
@@kydremurr1216 there wasn't much, just the warning from juliet's friend ("juliet, don't. you know what they say about him.") but it seems to imply that he has a few vices.
I'm a fan of Taylor Swift (not enough to pay that ticket price though lol), my favorite part is that she writes (or co-writes) all of the songs she's ever performed. I don't like all of her music personally, but I have a lot of respect for someone who puts that much effort and dedication into her career.
Damn this version feels like everyone is warning Romeo away from Juliet, not for her sake, but for _his_ . This Juliet feels like a delusional stalker who's imagined their "love story" and determined to get her happy ending ... at ANY cost. Love it! ❤
A sentence I wrote: "And when Juliet looked at him with a gun in one hand and a ring box in the other, blood speckled on her cheeks and a crazed look in her eyes, Romeo realized with chilling dread that her father did not tell him to stay away due to being overbearing, no. He had been trying to warn him."
All I can interpret from this is either- Romeo was killed and Juliet wants to avenge her love. Or Romeo was actually a terrible person and she wants revenge. Like maybe he used her for his own benefit. Personally I prefer the first idea cuz I’m a sucker for tragic love stories ALSO LYDIA YOUR VOICE IS SO GREAT OMGG YOU DID SO GOOD 🤩
I feel like (especially at the end) the minor key with the slightly switched lyrics at the end makes the song feel like Juliet fell madly in love with someone she just met while Romeo kinda didn’t at all feel the same, so Juliet instead went out and kept desperately trying to pursue Romeo, even going as far as attempting to force him to marry her and making everyone go along with it. It kinda gives a nice spin to the classic song/love story between Romeo and Juliet and I love it!
"i got tired of waiting" really marks the start of her seeking him in an obsessive way. like when she said "lined up a shot" shes really holding him at gunpoint- forcing him to marry her or he dies
Not a really a Taylor Swift fan...but WOW! Your voice when you do these "villain" covers, always brings me chills and gives me goosebumps. Keep up the amazing work!
Damn the Sarah Cothran arrangement with your soft spoken voice, gives it really this feeling of a sweet wholesome girl being ultimately fed up and that close to snapping
Just a very, very quick question. When you say "I lined up a shot" does that mean the Juliet, like, pulled out a shot of alcohol or that she is now pointing a gun at Romeo and threatening him into marrying her??? Either way it gives this horribly suspenseful air and I am loving every second of it! Good job Lydia!
This gave such a mental image... Juliet holds a box with engagement rings in one hand, and a big gun in the other hand, pointed at the viewer. Carefully examining the details of gun reveals that the safety is off and her finger is tightening on the trigger... Edit: Addendum to the image above, work in a liquor bottle somewhere. Maybe tucked in the neckline of her dress. "Lining up a shot", as T.Swift put it, is probably a reference to pool or billiards, but I like both of your alternate meanings! 😁😈
She makes songs darker in minor key. Which is for my opinion, is the BEST that she ever did along with her beautiful voice ❤. I still know until this day and mas kabisado ko pa yung Villain song ni Maribel Edit: Mirabel Edit: Wow, 9 likes already, tnx❤️🙏🏻
I love the little background dialogues that give more life to the story ✨️ And the lyrics changements at the end permit to stay on Juliet's love to Romeo, like an obsession ✨️ It's a really good work, and your voice feats perfectly, as always 😉❤
i am applauding in a walmart and screw the weird looks , this is hypnotic @LydiatheBard its as if its obsessive love story and i adore how you placed Dialogue in the song 💚
Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so ashamed I've been waiting for you, but you never came My dad said it's done, you won't bother me Now your soul's in the sky, I fall to your feet They said "Romeo's gone now, get up and go live your life! Find a new man, forget about him! You'll be fine!" I can't go without you, it's agonizing If you're not here, I'm tired of trying
I can almost imagine Juliette was cursed to be a gorgon and fell in love with mortal romeo. Everyone knew it meant trouble and wanted to keep her safe, but he left when he discovered her secret. Mad with grief and heartbreak, she left her ivory tower and hunted him down. The obsessive love and insane grief masked his perpetual expression of horror into ultimate love in her eyes as she turned him to stone so they could be togetter forever.
i gotta admit..Taylor Swift is my absolute idol and I'm such a huge Swiftie so i was kinda skeptical at first but I was very surprised in a good way!! I love this and I love the dialogue in the background it gives it memory vibes almost like she's reliving the story!!!

Wow. I don't know why this popped in my recommendations, but damn. It's amazing what the key can change. "Somewhere we can be alone" hit different even before the twist at the end...
This sounds so cool and sinister. Maybe it's because Ive been watching a lot of crime shows, but this sounds the power song for a female stalker or something.
i Feel like in this version the dad is saying "stay away from Juliet" because the father knows how extreme Juliet can get and he genuinely wanted to warn him
What is even going on. When inwoke up this morning i listened to that song after not hearing it in 10 years. And all of a sudden now also an amazing cover is coming. What a wild day
I like the idea this is an alternative ending to the original play , after romeo’s death instead of joining him Juliet seeks out revenge on their parents for forcing her to marry and separating her from romeo
Hello and welcome to today's scenario! Juliet and Romeo don't die (yet anyway) and get married. While everything might seem perfect for them to others, things are not as they seem. Juliet is secretly abused by her parents, constantly criticized for marrying Romeo. Juliet endures this unfair treatment for years, until at last she can stand it no more. She flies into a rampage fueled by insanity, murdering everyone who ever uttered a word against her marriage, but is stopped by Romeo. He begs her to come to her senses, but it's too late. Juliet is so far gone that she doesn't recognize her lover, murdering him as well. She is finally caught by the police, shot onsite, and is no more. A tragic end to a tragic love story. Thanks for tuning in, and join me next time for another scenario! 😘
This is my second time listenng to this song and it still gives me the chills Lydia! Your songs are amazing and I'm amazed! It really sounds so emotional!

I've known this song all my life (or so it feels), but, well... I guess it'll never be the same now. And I have to say, I'm happy about it :D Love your voice and work, as always
I love Lydia's music and I especially love trying to figure out what changed to alter the story! Seriously, it's so fun to write down what I think happened!
i have a feeling that when this Juliet "talked" to her dad she killed him and now i can't get the image of a girl wearing a bloody white wedding dress out of my head.
And this is why we have couples therapy everyone

I feel like the original feels like an innocent love story while this one feels more like the actual story of Romeo and Juliet. Great singing as usual Lydia :)

Or a ghost story they sing to each other
Me singing this when I'm dead to my ghost boyfriend.
"Stay away from Juliet."
"Sir, I promise you, I won't break her heart."
"I'm not scared for her."
I absolutely agree!!
"I lined up a shot and pulled out a ring..."
I can picture it now: Juliet holding Romeo at gunpoint and giving him a ring, her silent message clear as day: "Marry me or die."
Also, when she says she "talked to her dad," she really means she told him she was marrying Romeo whether he liked it or not and put a bullet in his head when he tried to stop her.
😱😱😱
I can seriously see that especially with Lydia's tendencies to make villain songs
Huh, i thought it was a Shotgun marriage, how they kept sneaking and she told her dad when he was chickening, and got him to marry him
And the "white dress" is a burial shroud...
The differences in the way you perceive the lyrics by merely changing it to a minor key is incredible
frrrr
Literally when she said all that’s left to do is run, I saw it as he was running away from her lol
She changed some of lyrics too though?
I love how this version of the song is portrayed similarity to the original Romeo and Juliet story. In modern culture, Romeo and Juliet tends to mean true love, but everyone forgets that they both end up dead in the end
It’s ironic because Shakespeare made it as a satire to how stupid teenagers are and how impulsive they can be. 😂

Not bollad
Whoa. That last bit hit me like a frigging freight train: was NOT prepared for Juliette to take this into her own hands.
