Your video showed me how to fix my Shark. I did not remove the switch; I just flooded the switch with contact cleaner while moving the switch on/off/on/off/on/off....etc. Now my Shark works perfect every time I turn it on.
Thanks for the video. A few things, 1 you can remove the switch without desoldering it from the board. You just need to carefully push the sides up using needle nose or stripper / crimpers. 2, after having the same issue and cleaning the switch, the problem persisted. They do not sell new switch boards for this product. Hope this was helpful to someone.
1. Yes you must unsolder the switch to remove it. 2. After servicing it, it now works perfectly again, its been several weeks and I use it almost daily.
@@norcal715 I must have misspoke, you can clean the contacts without unsoldering it from the board. Also your video should have you been "working it" sense the vacuum worked from the beginning.
Correction: The manufacturer's date code format is WWYY rather than MMYY. Thus, your machine was manufactured in the ninth week of 2017, around late February. On my SV780_N, the date code is 3914, or the 39th week of 2014. Thank you for your video!
Great! I'll try your fix, thanks! I was very disappointed they don't manufacture this model anymore. It's a little beast, and the new model looks too delicate.
I just bought a replacement from Walmart as the batteries were failing and the cost to replace the batteries was just a few $$$ less than replacing the entire unit.
Wow, this is such a great video. This same problem has been bugging me for quite awhile. Also on my stand up cordless Shark one too. I love to tinker with trying to repair things, my dad was never good at it so I had no one to teach me. I am so stoked and your video was excellent. I am going to seek out your others plus the comments and your answers are great. Thank you. ( I can see I am going to have to acquire some things in the future to help diagnose and also to be able to do repairs)
My wife's unit of the same model, 3 years newer just started acting up. It just stops after turning it on. The other times it works fine. So, I'll be cleaning the switch. Just have to see if I can get that torx screw out with my standard driver. Thank you for this.
i would have thought it was the battery not holding charge and getting weak as a load was applied to it with the description you gave and gave up on it good to know thx steve
Have you thought about including links to the products you use for repairs? Some UA-camr's do that and if you buy it from their Amazon link you get money in return.
The switch is not the problem in mine! turns on for 1 second then off. Over and over ....... . The switch shows 14v on both the pins when on and the motor has 14volts on both pins when the switch is on!!!! Any idea? Thanks
Do not waste your time with this video. This is my guardians vac for my home. It is not the switch it is the circuit board possibly the capacitors in power regulator circuit.

I like the fact that you do simple repairs as well as complex ones.

Your wife is soooo proud of you. I will share to my husband. Thanks

I have and I am slowly working on the list.
Nice fix. I would have probably used hot glue instead of tape, although it would make future servicing a little more difficult.
i jumped my switch and it still does the same thing

Same here, did you manage to find a solution and fix yours?
@@lagunafishing she bought a new one!
I did exactly what you did and it made no difference ,so i trashed it. Wasted half a day of my life .lol.
i put a jumped across my switch and it did the same thing exactly.
What size is that Torx screw ? I’m about ready to drill that thing out 😅
Think it's a T10
