If you can imagine something the size of a briefcase with the words LCD on it and it's a VCR with a flip up screen that is barely able to be lifted. Again that unit is from the mid-80s so it makes me question how it's LCD on a top load VCR lol.if you can help me out with listing this disk drive that would be appreciated maybe you know somebody that can use it more or less it looks to be an old 8088 disk drive for a IBM mounted in a July Norma's case but I want to make sure I list it properly. well if it was only intended to use up old PS2 stock, of course they're not going to start releasing lots of them. Nor would they release it in areas that don't have a glut of the consoles to scavenge for this stuff... A pity I guess....
I just picked up one for free. I was walking past a house near my home and it was on the drive, complete with controllers and men sticks. I knocked on the door and asked if I could take it away and they said no probs. Took it home and it works perfectly, plays DVDs and Ps2 games. Well pleased with this find that the gaming Retro God's have bestowed upon me.
This TV and PlayStation 2 set looks cool! I wish it was released worldwide because then, it would've provided great PlayStation 2 entertainment for hotel rooms in the rest of Europe, and other continents, such as North America, Oceania, and Asia.
If I was living my childhood in 2010 I would have enjoyed this on a massive level. As I got older, I started to appreciate a slightly larger screen but as a child with a tiny room, this would have done perfectly.
Do you think it would have been great to get a North American NTSC model of this television? It would have been convenient for American and Canadian hotel rooms, apartments and houses.
This TV was released exclusively in Europe only, so only PAL versions of that exist. However it wasn’t sold in all European countries - from what i know only in UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium (and maybe Luxembourg also, idk).
@@PrzeszczepiX Well that figures. Still though, it would have been interesting to see something similar to this European PlayStation 2 TV in the United States and Canada, at least.
Dude, the Walmart near my house in California still sold the PS2 IN 2016. I really wished I would've bought one now since PS2 is one of my favorite consoles.
I see you're a man of Natsuki as... actually, no, I'm on Team Sayori, but Nat's cool too. But yeah, that part was hilarious, I assume a few people's heads were exploding at that point. Reminds me of the idea I had to get a ColecoVision I had in my childhood and somehow run it on a HDTV, but never went through with it, though looking on eBay now, they're not horribly expensive...
They should put all the old computers together into a single unit (C64, Atari, Sega, PS, Nintendo etc) with all the games as an all-in-one. That would be great fun!
Great video! I'm always fascinated by stuff like this. The PS2 came out a month before I was born. I have one of the fat models that I was able to get off a con artist by trading him an smartphone lying around the house. Currently in the middle of Final Fantasy 10 and Kingdom Hearts. Both great series! Keep up the good work! I enjoy the content epically since I'm an America who enjoys looking at the British perspective of gaming! It just fascinates me!
I'd like to see Sony make a PS2 console, with a HDMI output and up-scaling, several built-in games and the option to play disks from the PS1 and PS2, a memory card slot, and a hard-drive to save the games and install them for faster load times. If Sega can allow the MegaDrive to be re-released over and over again (with a degree of success), I don't see why Sony can't give it a try.
In today's standard, this would make a pretty decent PC monitor with the addition of a PS2 for those of us who still enjoy SONY's 18 year old console instead of playing an emulator. One aspect of using this as a PC monitor and PS2 simultaneously, is the ease of not having to travel far with those burnt disc's or USB drives (SwapMagic/MCboot users). 😎
This could have been the ultimate PS2 machine worldwide and the best send-off to the best system Sony has ever produced and sold. But no, Sony decided to sell it only in UK. I can imagine this beauty could have been used everywhere I go. Sadly for us PS2 lovers, Sony didn't have the resolution to give this amazing product a go in the other markets.
You know why because you dam yank tanks like everything big big big, to go with your big heads l, us uk people don't care and like the smaller screens. It's all your own darn faults blyat, leave me nawwwww
I found out about this by posting on Reddit that I wish Sony released a TV with a built-in Playstation 2, and somebody was like, " Ever heard on the BRAVIA 22 PSX-300. And I am like woah, really. Awesome!
What a gem mate! Awesome video too :D I did not even know this puppy existed, but what a treasure to keep. The BIOS is interesting, I never seen that one pop anywhere. I have the newish revision of this in a kinda way. A 4K 60 inch Sony Bravia and it even came with a pair of PS4 pads... unfortunately I was duped and its an Android TV with a nVidia shield type spec and access to the PSN store... not bad, but not exactly the same fuzzy warmth you would get from this bad boy! Cheers for the vid mate
theres a easy explination to that, if you remember the "PSVita TV" boxes they used to sell? they probably built one of those in to stream PS4 games to it via remote play
yes you can play ntsc discs when you put an DVDX region key memory card in your ps2 and insert the corosponding setup disc then you can choose ever region from 1-9. I myself got one and it works just fine.
I used to be so smug as an American when it came to video game releases. I would laud it over my friends in the UK that I was getting releases earlier, and in some cases, at all. Then this came out over there, and I felt a crushing sense of despair when I knew that even if I got one, I wouldn't be able to play any games on it. Hope you treat it with TLC.
When I was 14 made a mobile PS2 with a PS2 slim, a tiny LCD panel and 2 18650 cells There's nothing like playing GTA San Andreas on the school bus while everyone else had a gameboy or one of those tiger electronic games

Be thankful the EU is looking out for your interests there! :-) We in the US get to pay the subscription and take whatever crap hardware the provider wants to give us, with no recourse to use anything other. Would have loved it if our govt had mandated the right to move that subscription to the equipment of our choice.... before it had become irrelevant of course.
Quickly checked on eBay, there's one going for 850 pounds or something like that. Quite a dream of a setup if you're into your PS2. I would love to own one at some point but as they seem to be very rare and pricey I will keep dreaming :)
Some other models of non-PS2 equipped Bravia TVs also had the XMB menu too, we have a 2010-era one at work that's remarkably similar to this, but without the console stuck to it.
One of the hardest ones to find..that and the PS2X or PSX DVR which was only released in japan..As a collector I shall find one someday! The original Xbox is also slowly becoming rarer
The tv is the stock Sony Bravia 22BX300 which is just a 22" 720p TV with a very basic stand integrated. The PS2 components were most likely from the SCPH-9000x release (2008) which is the release of the PS2 Slim that disabled the "Boot from Memory Card" exploit. As all they needed to do was re-tool the casing for the playstation a bit and run soldered in cables up the "stalk" of the base, I'm pretty sure this was just an easy way to get rid of stock without having to fully design a new tv casing and support system. Frugal and convenient. The fact that the PS2 doesn't even turn on at the same time as the TV indicates that their circuitry is 100% isolated thus all they really did was slam a ps2 in the base of the tv and run cables from one mainboard to the other, oh and a software switch for PS2 power so it could be turned on by the remote ;)
Wow, I haven't heard about this TV-console combo, I own a playstation 2 and it is one of the best console ever made! Thank you for the video, you've got my thumbs up!
I live in the US and I have one of these, it has an adapter for the plug but that doesn't matter. Since I had this I hooked up a ps1, ps3, ps4, and just for fun another phat ps2.
I actually own this. I bought it at a local electronics store here in Luxemburg years ago, it was relatively cheap. But I don't remember mine having that many Hdmi inputs, maybe my version os is different
Technically this means any HDMI capable Playstation has ps2 backwards compatibility *Edit technically also ps1 because of the ps2's backwards compatibility with it as well
I seen someone trying to make one of these using an NTSC PS2. I never got to learn how it turned out though... Anyway, thanks for sharing, was neat to see.
You know what? I really want one. I live in the US, and want a TV that would accept both NTSC and PAL, and de-interlace them quickly. This TV seems to be BUILT for that. Damn I jelly.
4:13 Wait... "CYFROWY TELEWIZOR KOLOROWY LCD"... so what? They were selling it also in Poland or is it just some oddity? Nonetheless, great video - I knew about this TV because of one of Polish UA-cam channels, but it's nice to see something about it in English too :)
this would be a perfect first console setup for a kid these days. I was on my brothers' old n64 when they got the Xbox and PS2. Didnt care a bit when i was 8 years old though i was so glad to have a game console.
That PS2 remote was absolutely gorgeous. Almost perfect. The styling matched all the systems (less this one). Probably one of the nicest feeling remotes/controllers built up to that point. And, they didn't want a helluva lot for it. The I.R. fob was a little annoying for use on the first generation. Subsequent generations connectivity was flawless, and less obtrusive. I actually was surprised to find that it worked so well, considering that I didn't realize the PS2 2nd Gen Slim had that I.R. "built-in" Great video. This PS2-TV unit is wonderful. I'd love to see that Linux PS2 setup going some day (by Nostalgia Nerd). I don't think there was ever an advert in a promo magazine that I was more excited about. "This thing is a computer too"?
It was not able to detect any digital channels because the TV was build in the DVB-T broadcast standard era. But the channels in the UK broadcast in the DVB-T2 standard. It is not backwards capable. Your antenna was doing its job just fine...
I almost want to get this TV and then remove the PS2 and install the very first model PS3 with full backward compatibly. Would be awesome! BluRay, Wireless Controllers, PS3 Games!
wow this was so cool. I remember that my brother and I hyped when we saw this PS2tv for the first time... And then cried because this beautiful piece of nostalgia never reached Argentina. It looks gorgeous! I envy you man hahahaha
I love your videos, they really take me back and remind me of some great memories! Seeing you play Die Hard Trilogy reminded me of the day and even the place I bought it! A TPP shooter, light gun and racing game in one, it was amazing value for money!
Wait... what are you doing in my house!?? Great review as always I always laughed at people who bought these kinds of things thinking they were daft for putting their eggs in one TV shaped basket. Now they are worth a small fortune. I am not laughing anymore. Also, you love a light gun - ua-cam.com/video/SnwQ8VsGqyo/v-deo.html
Seeing you cover sixth-gen hardware makes me miss my other consoles. Used to have quite a lot, back then. But after being hit with financial struggles, I'm just down to my 3DS and Mega Drive. Hoping to get a Nintendo Switch after I graduate from college.
WOw. I saw one of those at Richer Sounds Newcaslte in late december 2010, while playing a gig nearby at the Carling Academy. It puzzled me, as I was (and am) into gaming and never knew hat existed. I did think about buying it on the spot, but I was too excited and shortsighted by GT5 on PS3 to part up with the 230 quid asking price. Nice to randomly find closure to that mistery! Thanks!
I had a crt with a dvd player built into it when I was around 4-6 years old. I even had a VHS. Bear in mind I was born in 2001. LCD tvs where out in those times. It was awesome having a VHS. I might have to get one for nostalgia reasons
Very interesting review! Re: HDMI ports - Sony TVs today still have a LOT of HDMI inputs compared to other manufacturers, and I have friends who actually purchased a Sony TV recently for that exact reason.
I stayed in a small hotel in London in 2015 which had them in the rooms. They had the controllers tucked behind the unit. Unfortunately I hadn’t brought any PS2 games with me!
So cool that you have one of these! I love the TV and game console combination systems. In an ideal world where money wasn't an issue, I'd have one of each in my game room lol. I own the NES version though. Great video! I love when you cover more obscure items like these.

Ffxi is still online. Service for the ps2 is even supported still you just can't play past wings of the goddess content.
boko6565 worth getting into? I was a poor teenager at the time so didn't get chance to play my ps2 online.
Loundsify absolutely! But play it on the pc as it's still officially supported.
But maybe I'm just remembering it wrong since It's stored away now since a while
Hey, my old babysitter had one! He was awesome. 10 years later and I find this video. Good video!
Id love one of these mate! Sweet video again mate. thanks
A few are available:

Cheers Elliot.
I thought they would be more expensive than that tbh
Technically this means any HDMI capable Playstation has ps2 backwards compatibility
*Edit technically also ps1 because of the ps2's backwards compatibility with it as well
Those captions man had me rolling!
it's great to see guys like you who could salvage these relics. When nostalgia hits me, best I could do is run the emulator
Brilliant piece of kit👍
The PS2 was my first DVD player. Awesome! Play games, watch movies and listen to music on cd...just an excellent entertainment system 🥰❤️❤️❤️🍕🍺
I am still waiting on Atari Falcon review - documentary .
It better be good ....
Idimi Dodjimi yes please!!
I'm gonna make it drastically bad now, just to spite you.
I'd love to tear out the guts of this and replace it with an NTSC PS2. Not sure how I'd make the TV run at 60 hertz, though...
great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! need more Bad Influence and the BBC show about computers!
Got myself one yesterday, and its an absolute beast!
Gameceptor Philips CDI was also made in Poland ;)
BTW my export (Canada) Humax LSA-23A was also made in Poland and have Polish stickers everywhere :)
Produkcja była w Czechach i Polsce :) mam jeden egzemplarz kosztował mnie 50 £;)
It says
"assembled in Slovakia"
this would be a perfect first console setup for a kid these days. I was on my brothers' old n64 when they got the Xbox and PS2. Didnt care a bit when i was 8 years old though i was so glad to have a game console.
Hi Nostalgia Nurd does it still have a cooling fan?
It does yes, the internals are identical to a SCPH 90000 PS2 slim, simply the shell has been removed, and it's been slotted into the stand of a tv.
The fat PS2 is the best 👌👌
"Allow me to share mine with you, as it's actually a pretty nice package" can't be an accident
PlayStation intro is hands down the best intro for a console!
Wow very cool! That disc loading tray is pure ecstasy; very pleasing
4:14 "CYFROWY TELEWIZOR KOLOROWY LCD"
How come it has Polish writing on the label if it was a UK-only product? O_o Why Polish out of all languages?
They had to, otherwise it would be unpolished.
...I'll show myself out
My friend got one of these and still uses it. Mainly for PS2 and PS1games. Cool little TV.
Saying an obscure game soundtrack and then playing F-Zero feelsbadman
That is exactly what happened. 10/10 for observation.
That PS2 remote was absolutely gorgeous. Almost perfect. The styling matched all the systems (less this one).
Probably one of the nicest feeling remotes/controllers built up to that point. And, they didn't want a helluva lot
for it. The I.R. fob was a little annoying for use on the first generation. Subsequent generations connectivity was
flawless, and less obtrusive. I actually was surprised to find that it worked so well, considering that I didn't realize
the PS2 2nd Gen Slim had that I.R. "built-in"
Great video. This PS2-TV unit is wonderful. I'd love to see that Linux PS2 setup going some day (by Nostalgia Nerd).
I don't think there was ever an advert in a promo magazine that I was more excited about. "This thing is a computer too"?
But does it run Crysis?
But does it run crysis
Only for ps3
You don't understand...does it run Crysis? My Atari can....
Yes
No, but ur mum can
It was not able to detect any digital channels because the TV was build in the DVB-T broadcast standard era.
I envy you man hahahaha
the ps2 is awesome
too bad i dont have one
i can still emulate
Go get one, they are still cheap!
I love your videos, they really take me back and remind me of some great memories! Seeing you play Die Hard Trilogy reminded me of the day and even the place I bought it! A TPP shooter, light gun and racing game in one, it was amazing value for money!
And the Duke Nukem game too, I had the poster on my wall as a kid from one of the PlayStation magazines!
Wait... what are you doing in my house!?? Great review as always I always laughed at people who bought these kinds of things thinking they were daft for putting their eggs in one TV shaped basket. Now they are worth a small fortune. I am not laughing anymore. Also, you love a light gun - ua-cam.com/video/SnwQ8VsGqyo/v-deo.html
I always wanted one of these TVs despite owning a slim PS2, i dont remember why, i just found the whole built-in aspect amazing
Welp rip playstation there getting sued for doing something to the ps3 so who ever has a fat ps3 can return it for $60 dollars
The fact it has SCART too and composite....that's an amazing retro gaming TV.
1:24 “But why? And how? And indeed, why?”
Seeing you cover sixth-gen hardware makes me miss my other consoles. Used to have quite a lot, back then. But after being hit with financial struggles, I'm just down to my 3DS and Mega Drive. Hoping to get a Nintendo Switch after I graduate from college.
just showing footage of ELEVATOR ACTION 2 , made me love this guy even more :)
Ah, Taito Legends 2... A great little compilation where I garnered some favourites like Bust-A-Move, Cleopatra Fortune, and even Elevator Action 2.
Gran turismo machine and a tv at once! Amazing and i want one
Great video, also shout out to The Renault 5 at the end.
Yeah boiiii!
Very interesting review! Re: HDMI ports - Sony TVs today still have a LOT of HDMI inputs compared to other manufacturers, and I have friends who actually purchased a Sony TV recently for that exact reason.
Don’t you open that door, you’re a fool if you dare Don’t you open that trap door, cause there’s something down there. What a great 80’s show
I love that sliding door!
Great videos and a great Channel 😀👍
I stayed in a small hotel in London in 2015 which had them in the rooms. They had the controllers tucked behind the unit. Unfortunately I hadn’t brought any PS2 games with me!
Oh No! Around 7:13 there's an encoding error.
Nonetheless, a fantastic and informative video. Great job
So cool that you have one of these! I love the TV and game console combination systems. In an ideal world where money wasn't an issue, I'd have one of each in my game room lol. I own the NES version though. Great video! I love when you cover more obscure items like these.
