the BEST worms.. I have sunk so many hours into the original Worms back in the 90´s its ridiculous. Now my son who is the same age as me when i played it, loves it.. We play it again everytime he is at my place.. Classic!!!
Only difference in the 3D games is that you can move in many directions other than left and right, but the core mechanic is still there when playing the games.
One of the best multiplayer games ever made. I don't remember this version. I'm in America and played it a ton when it first came out PC, this one definitely has some differences. My favorite is Worms 2 but this is a close second. I miss the art style of the original, but part 2 was excellent with the amount of customization, online play, and level editing. It would be really cool if they made a retro version of the game with this sprite art and huge amounts of weapons & customization with online play.
It's a while ago, but I remember you could replace the worms' voices with your own. Not an in-built feature, just something you could do if you played around with the game data IIRC.
Originally, Worms included a Dragon Punch and a Fire Ball as weapons, complete with Street Fighter II sound effects. The final release changed the weapons to a Dragon Ball and a Fire Punch with different sounds. This was most likely changed for legal reasons.

I remember that you can give wings to a worm. Also, when you kill an enemy you can "drink" him with a straw. And I think that your worms are blue and other ones are yellow. I was like 3 or 4 when my older brother played it but he doesen't remember it :/

I just got the original version, and just now another later one called Worms and reinforcements united, and the later one had this great theme song. Finally :)

Snow and hell were the only two maps, and it had a very different intro song, more minimalistic as you said. Also worm and battle sounds in the background. It's 100% the demo you are after, I think it's still available as a download
