There's a lot of good advice here, including God Consciousness, having taqwa. But I think it's really important to keep in mind, with respect to the hadith, that it's talking about a very high level of consciousness that only those who have entered into the realm of Iman, from Islam, have. The average Muslim does not have this, and focusing on this will lead to failure because you're setting such a high standard for yourself. This is what plagues the broader secular spiritualist community, and also, the western Buddhist communities as well. They all talk about Enlightenment, setting up this lofty goal that few have ever achieved, but end up trying to practice what they think an Enlightened person is like/God Conscious person is like, but in that practice, because it does not reflect their inward state, are merely engaging in the suppression of their emotions, feelings, and psycho-physiological states that require a healthy output.
Practice God Consciousness, but you really need to be putting in hours of meditation [muraqaba] and dhikr. Imam al-Ghazali says that when remembering God causes one to avoid certain actions and perform other actions, that constitutes as a type of knowledge that has become instantiated. So the key takeaway here is that every time you act on that awareness, even if its just a subtle awareness, it has an effect. Ultimately, you want to be able to feel the effects of spiritual expansion and healing so that you can contrast this with its opposite, which arises from committing certain haram acts. Once you see the difference, it becomes much easier to prefer the good to the bad, the healing to the wounding. The prior takes one closer to self-knowledge, and from the saying of the spiritual masters and the attributed hadith, "Whoever knows their own soul knows God."
It's a whole process of upward cultivation. Because our God Consciousness is imperfect, if you rely solely on whether or not you're God Conscious, then you will fail because you're not perfect in your God Consciousness.
I think the greatest challenge is for those who are unmarried.
You guys make a good point when you talk about the overall neurological effect and what you see visually. It's not only leading to guys becoming entangled in the perverted desires of cuckoldry, but think about what happens when the brain is being aroused and stimulated while its perceiving male genitalia? You're basically being aroused by men engaged in a sexually dominating act. I would argue this is at the heart of the gender confusion debates that are happening today, especially since we are living in a social environment that for the past 50 years especially, has been socially shaped by the sex positivity movement, which basically reduces human beings down to their sexual impulses. So if people are being taught that, ontologically you are your sexual impulse, and if your sexual impulse is being shaped by pornography, then what are you? It's very Dajjalic.
Another point to mention is that even if you pray for forgiveness, and Allah forgives you, the negative effects of your actions may still be there. It's a very complex subject that goes from the realm of physical to the metaphysical.

Wow. Alhamdulillah. This comment was extremeely eye opening for me and and is super well written. You are very wise my freind MashaAllah. You are absolutely right in your advice and the advice our 3 brothers give should try to inlcude Western Contexts within it- little Jimmy that practices "self-love" 3 times a day is not thinking about Allah.
He hasn't built the imaan to do that.
I have noticed the periods when I break from this horrible horrible addiction is when I follow my self-imrpovement habits combined with Dhikr. Meditation, distraction and a proper salah, self reflecting during sajdah and growing closer to Allah gives me my longest streaks of abstinence....Ramadaan is always a beautiful time.
I pray to Allah I quit this addiction. Its destroyed my life. Its getting better now, generally 1 month period of abstinence inbetween but its a horrible feeling as the older I am getting and the more purified I want to become, the more dirty and disgraced I feel descending into that horrible horrible hole. May anyone reading this beat the addiction, and become better men. That's all I want to be. I just want to gain my innocence and purity back. For my imaan and relationship with Allah. For my future wife who deserves better. For my future children who deserves a better man. For myself and others surrounding me. Ameen.

As a women I will say it right now for the sake of people knowing as a women I deal with this too imagine for me personally I didn’t learn it and I didn’t hear about it I just discovered it one day when I was like 7 or 8 I didn’t even know it was haram until I started to discover Islam on UA-cam school sucks it didn’t teach me that it is haram they just teach us about prayer and Quran but not explain it they don’t speak about things like this that are super important and I remember my mom caught me once but she just pretended she didn’t see anything like my mom failed as a mother when she didn’t tell me what I was doing was wrong because now I am 17 and I am still struggling literally the slightest bit of thinking about intimacy or anything like that my hormones rage and I can’t control it just like brother anghel said there is no takwa when you are in that stage I apologize to Allah and I do my thing it is crazy how people think us girls don’t even do it because we are “innocent” I feel like these people just want to be blind about it people don’t know because us girls are shy and we don’t speak about it when we should in a respectful manner for education purposes لا حياء في الدين there is no shyness in religion women came to the prophet peace be upon him and talked to him about things like this idk why it’s so taboo to talk about it

It is how nature intended us to be and how Allah wanted us to act biologically. You will also notice that you as a man release stress readily by engaging in mental activities, women release stress by being emotional.

Al salaam Aleykum, This is a nice podcast it discusses many issues nicely, but there are two parts I wanted to talk about that were addressed wrong.
    1. 47:00 instead of thinking 'oh it's done' think 'ok I have been clean for 20 days and tomorrow is going to be the 21' and keep on going with the cleaning phase this method really helps your psychological motivation, and If you think 'oh it's done this will bring less motivation and more sin.
    2. 48:34 Always think that the mercy of Allah is greater than your sin, it's actually haram to think otherwise. Even if you are in the mid of sins you should not treat Allah like a human being, Allah put us here on earth for trial and a person may fail all their trials until the last one and Allah will reward them Jannah. Never ever think that Allah will not forgive you even if you are sinning every minute otherwise you can destroy your belief by the thought that 'oh I have been in this cycle sin repent sin repent ... Allah is not gonna forgive me.
other than these two points this was a beautiful podcast thank you for helping the Muslim youth and may Allah reward you Jannah.

46:00 it doesn't matter the intensity, what matters is you're being affected by it and it needs to stop. It's like having the water on hot, doesn't matter how intense it is... it's still hot. Likewise, doesn't matter how far down the rabbit hole you are when it comes to addictions, etc, don't let that forget you that you're in the rabbit hole. 👽

I wouldn't say you're DONE after relapsing just once, but it is definetly detrimental and not worthwhile. Its just the inner addict and waswas craving its fix. One relapse is not as bad as two and two is not as bad as three. That doesn't make doing it once correct though. Just something to mention Insha'Allah if anyone was thrown off by that comment made by brother Faiyad. May Allah forgive him. We are not perfect and we all make mistakes. May Allah bless you all. To my nofappers, keep going and remember progression, not perfection. One relapse does not ruin all your progress. Turn back to Allah swt and just move forward in how you can improve and address the causes of relapse.

47:36 prevention is better than cure. You'd rather not experience it and not ask for a solution (I mean, why should you? when you're not being affected as you avoided the castrasophe altogether) as supposed to asking for a cure (yaknee you're in the catastrophe, experienced it and want out) you'd be the person who saw the danger and went around it as supposed to diving in head first and a thought came to u saying what you have done I shouldn't be here it's too dangerous for me the more I'm in the more danger it becomes for myself. 👽

    Nikola Tesla :
"All manifestations, even in their most complex appearances - and man is a good example of this - even if they are complicated and impenetrable, are therefore only movements which must be governed by the same mechanical laws as those which govern movement. entire physical universe.
When we speak of man, our conception must be that of humanity as a whole, and before applying scientific methods to analyze its movement, we must first accept it as a physical reality.
But who would still doubt today that these millions of individuals, with their innumerable differences of type and character, form only one entity, one unit?
Although free to think and act, we are bound together like the stars in the firmament, by bonds resistant to any test.
These links, we cannot see them, but we can feel them.
If I cut my finger, it will hurt; this finger is part of my body.
If I see a friend suffer, I suffer too; my friend and I are one.
And if I see an enemy being cut down, I'm sorry, even though he's just a clump of matter that I don't care about any more than any other clump of matter in the universe.
Doesn't this prove that each of us is only part of a whole?
This concept has been defended by the wisest religious doctrines for centuries, probably because not only can it guarantee peace and harmony among men, but it also embodies a well-founded truth.
Buddhists express it one way, Christians another, although they both say the same thing: we are one."
    --------------------------------------------
“I never, above my signature, announced anything that I didn't prove first.
That's why none of my statements have ever been contradicted, and I don't think they will be, because every time I post something, I review it first from experience and then from from experience I calculate, and when I meet theory and practice, I announce the results.”
“We are One. Only egos, beliefs and fears separate us.”
    Nikola Tesla
