    I have had my Laguna 1412 bandsaw for about 3 years now and love it. The blades however are frustrating to say the least. When I brought the saw I sprung for the expensive 3/4" resaw king blade. Never even had a chance to use it, it was that bad. The weld was so far off it would hit like crazy. They replaced it but the second blade broke. Not at the weld and Laguna said sorry but not our problem. On my third blade and the cut quality is much rougher than the second but works. Hopefully it lasts long enough to dull before breaking. If it does it will be Lenox as I have had good luck with their sawsall blades.

    So you still have both the Jet and Powermatic? That would be an awesome luxury.

    Bad experience with Laguna, both cut quality and drift. Used Lenox ever since with excellent results on same bandsaw (Hitachi 16 inch resaw with extended neck)

    I didn't want to pay double the price so I bought the resaw king. Just saw this. Hope I didnt throw away a bunch of money.
    PS who resharpens carbide tooth bandsaw blades? Laguna won't even do their own blades anymore.

      I’m not entirely sure, who re-sharpens

      @MSRWorkshop So these carbide teeth blades cost five to ten times more than the cheaper counterparts. Do they last five to ten times longer? One reason I thought I could justify the expense was the ability to resharpen. But that no longer appears to be an ability. I actually bought the blade to cut some ridiculously hard wood. Quebracho (axe breaker) More than three times harder than Hard Maple. 4500+ on the Janka scale.

      Carbide will easy last 5x longer than bimetal. In wood or plastic the life of carbide is practically unlimited as long as you never hit metal or dirt.

    it looks like the jet bandsaw in the background. If so do you also use this blade on that?

    • @MSRWorkshop
      @MSRWorkshop  3 місяці тому +1

      @@paulluna45 I don’t.
      I keep either a 1/8 on it or a 1/4 in blade on that one.
      I use that saw for bandsaw boxes or tight cutting.

      @@paulluna45 whatever you can find. Less teeth the better.
      Most of the time I have ordered it direct from Timberwolf

    Are these bands from Laguna breaking at the welded joint ie there not reheating or they just break anywhere which is painfull say the least.

      @MSRWorkshop  Рік тому

      I’ve herd some of both. I haven’t noticed one more than the other

  •  Місяць тому

    But off topics. Just got my jet 15 inch 3 hp, minus the upper thrust bearing. I’m sure jet will shape one out but in the interim is resawing going to be an issue

    • @MSRWorkshop
      @MSRWorkshop  Місяць тому

      You mean without the thrust bearing?

    •  Місяць тому

      @ correct, it’s simply not there

    • @MSRWorkshop
      @MSRWorkshop  Місяць тому

      Strange, yes you will need that because the force applied to the blade during resawing will push the blade off the tire if it’s not there.
      If it’s just the actual bearing, and not the whole assembly, you might be able to steal a thrust bearing from the bottom and use it on the top if you’re in a pinch.

    •  Місяць тому

      @ not as much force on the lower, more of a stabilizer versus a counter force?

    • @MSRWorkshop
      @MSRWorkshop  Місяць тому

      So your top and bottom thrust bearings actually don’t contact the blade until force is applied, and then it will move your blade back slightly and will come in contact with the thrust bearing. This is doing two things, one is keeping the blade from being forced off of the wheel into depending on the thrust bearing itself, can actually stabilize the blade from the rear.
