Australia should be proud of the Matilda's. Reaching the semi-finals is a feat in itself. They came up against arguably the best side in the world, currently and gave it their all.
There's a reason pride cometh before the fall.

Why were the crowd booing so much? Does this say a lot? "Amazing fans' are usually magnanimous in defeat.
I think they were frustrated that England were passing around a lot at the back, but that’s how you control possession. If Aussies had pressed more, maybe they nullify that. All the English players play in the top leagues and have more experience.
Because Australians are ungrateful winners and even worse at losing. They thought they just had to turn up and the game was theirs, fortunately England European Champions put them back in their pram.
Australia were totally owned by England. Especially in the 1st half, England had 80% possession of the ball. I watched it on the BBC & the commentary was so different to how the Australian media had the game. In the UK it was seen as a pretty & easy comfortable win against a fairly flat opposition, in Australia it was somehow positioned as a close game.

I sincerely hope that the Mataldas can look back at their achievements during this tournament and how they helped to grow the game and gain a whole new legion of fans. They should be so proud of what they accomplished. It is devastating that they didn't come out on top, but going down in the semi final is further than any Australian team has come before. Keep your head up and bring home the bronze on Saturday. Let's get behind our team and show them how proud we are of our Matildas! :)

We don’t invest 💩into football, our schools are embarrassing for sport funding- that’s why Australians win so many medals at the Olympics. There’s nothing there so they do sports and invest in it

It's undoubtedly hard to lose at the semi-final stage of a major tournament, and third place may seem a bit pointless. But I hope the Matildas can pick themselves up - a bronze medal gives them something to show for their magnificent performances.

@yeshuaknoyanot8474 exactly... basically most of the girls who won us the euros last year. But it proves just how many great players we have at the moment. Scary really. How the aussies could blame this on their injuries is a joke, and I've also heard that their media over there seem to think it was a close match lol. England could and probably should have had another 3 or 4 sitters. In every aspect of the game the English girls were so much better. And if they had needed to i'm sure they had a few more gears to up as well. At least they play to a plan and have a basic structure. If they lose to Spain it will be a freak result, like a 1 in 10 type thing, but imo England have been hands down the best side at this tournament. Let's hope they maintain that for one more game. Personally I think the Spanish will be terrified and will be mostly just trying to contain England.

This match could have gone either way when Kerr had scored that goal. But defensive blunders and lack of clinical finishing from Australia meant England to the final.

It was a great tournament for the girls nevertheless, I was starting to get a bit fed up after the Quater final win anyway, All the newbies on TV etc calling the team 'The Tillies' was doing my head in, they already have a nickname, it's The Matildas, it probably would have become The T's had they reached the final, Matildas works, just stick with that next tournament pleeeease.

It was nowhere near the corners. It was right in the middle of the goal at a perfect height. 9/10 keepers save that. She switched off though cause it was all getting too easy. England could also have scored 3 or 4 more very easily.
