For me Felix is by far the best. In terms of lyrics, instrumental and raw emotion. Seconds would be Liamoo and Mariette. Thirds would Benjamin and Martin. Guilty pleasures are Patrick Swayze and Party Voice. Mendez was the worst imo. Anyways I think Benjamin’s gonna win but for me Felix is head and shoulders above everyone else. ALSO NO SAMIR & VIKTOR. There is some great songs, but pop songs aren't in anymore after Eric Saade, Loreen, Måns, Sergei Lazarev and Robin Bengtsson. People' expections are high on pop song's and maybe that's why Jamala and Salvador won.

Can't stop listening to Felix Sandman's song. It's gentle, but it's got drama. And I LOVE that the lyrics aren't cliche' rhymes. So far it's the best of any song I've heard in any contest this year.
Great reaction Alesia! As someone who watches Eurovision and Melodifestivalen live (at 3am since I live in Singapore), I realised that joke entries were made to entertain the young ones! I know you hate such songs but they are made not for Eurovision, but for entertainment purposes. In fact, Eurovision had some joke entries too! One of the fascinating things is that you never know what to expect from these entries as they tend to be wacky but amazing and there were a great amount of joke entries in the past. Sometimes, some joke entries such as "We are the Winners" by LT United back in Eurovision 2006 ended up in the top 10. Even in Melodifestivalen, some joke entries such as "Copacabanana" by Sean Banan from Melfest 2013 would do well in the final, although I don't remember any joke entry that ended up in the top 3 as such entries would be shot down by the international jury. This year was a disappointing Melfest year, but there were a few entries that stood out from the rest! My top 3 are Benjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman and Liamoo as these songs really stood out in terms of many factors. IMO, Benjamin Ingrosso should represent Sweden as he have the complete package of a great Eurovision entry.
I agree with you on most songs and like your reviews! Personally, my favorite is Dotter - Cry, but I agree that the live version doesn't live up to the studio version. And I love Mariette, but her song isn't as strong this year as it was last year. So I'm pretty conflicted when it comes to which song will represent Sweden. Hopefully they have made a few changes to the final!

The only one I like is Mariette actually. Benjamin... sounds awful to me, and since there will be no LED screen, I wonder about the staging. I have no idea who will win this in the end.
I need to say that personally I'm really impressed by this Dotter's performance (also I can understand her pretty well). It's probably not Eurovision song, so it's not surprising she didn't make it, but it has some quality to it, that I can't ignore.
Who are you calling your boyfriend? Because if that's a dancer called *Daniel Koivunen* I totally get it. That man is one of the coolest dancers I've ever seen in Melodifestivalen and ESC. Besides of being really handsome, his attitude is everything, you should watch him in 2013 finale with Alton Ewald in "Begging" I've seen that performance so many times, just because of him.
We really didn’t impress this year I mean as a swede I have been quite proud of all our songs in the Eurovision since 2011, but this year I dislike most of our songs in the final or at least really don’t think they are ESC worthy
You're absolutely right Melodifestivalen, is much more that a national final. Every year Sweden seems spoilt for choice. They often reject songs that are better than the songs some countries send. They already have a song in this year's contest. Thomas G:son wrote this year's Maltese entry. Mariette's song is my favourite song, but I don't think it's as good as A Million Years from last year. It won the OGAE second chance contest after all. All of us veteran Mello watchers know that the 4 semi final winners are the contenders. Only once since the semi final system was introduced into Mello in 2002 has the winner not been one of the semi final winners (2013). We don't know which 4 songs they are yet, so we have to choose from 8 that went direkt till finalen. Well maybe 7, I don't think Rolandz won Saturday's semi, do you? I'm tempted to say that it's Mariette's to lose, but the international jury may feel that Benjamin Ingrosso may have a better song for Eurovision, and they are not without power, look at last year!. I think that Mariette deserves the win, but is it the song that will do best for Sweden in May.

Her last 2 songs.. everything was just so perfect! is good.. but it's not enough for my high expectation. and staging feels so empty. Feels sad 😢 My favorite is Renaida but winner is Benjamin. It is only one song with performance that stand out for me. Actually, i don't like his song first time. However, I like this song more, the more i listen to it. He slays everything and the song is catchy. Sorry for them but the other songs sound little generic or not good for me.😓
I think Sweden would have a better shot if they send Samir & Viktor. Of course Benjamin, Mariette and co would give them a decent placement but I'm kind of getting tired of seeing Sweden go safe with an English polished pop song. And Shuffla is retty much in the same vein as Hey Mamma! if not better so...
This was such a bad year to realise that Mello had an international following. I really hope we get a better selektionen for you next year, because 2018 was just soo bad.

I think Melodifestivalen 2018 is not that strong
Right? I was so dissapointed throughout the competition. I feel like no songs stand out of the crowd.
