This is REALLY tasteful. No "everything is wet shiny shinyyyyy" overkill, the RTX changes slot in so unobtrusively. Only comment is that some dark parts seem a bit TOO dark now, which makes realistic sense (there's no light source there), but is a little much from a gameplay perspective. The idea from maxios-7613 here of making the light ring in Sonic's hand shine brighter in dark areas seems like a good possible fix.
meh i dont think it really improve it all that much, and the old lighting fits the models/textures better. it also barely has an effect on night/indoor scenes. it's interesting, especially to people who already played the game, but I don't think it adds a whole lot and isn't an objectively better style for sonic adventure. maybe if the graphics were improved with HD models and textures it could work.
While I do like the boost formula, I agree the adventure formula imo is better!! My first sonic game was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, so I’m obviously going to be a bit biased towards it.
Technically the Boost formula is just the Adventure formula but with a few additions and replacements. Spindash was swapped out with Boost, Bounce (introduced in SA2) was swapped out with Stomp, and finally Quick Step and Drift were added. People claim that the formula changes constantly, but in all honesty Heroes still uses a modified Adventure formula (just with the team gimmick) and Shadow 05/Sonic 06 lean back more into the Adventure formula as it was before Heroes, just with their own little changes. Secret Rings and Black Knight are basically just the Adventure formula on rails and with extra gimmicks on top, and the Boost Formula is again just another alteration on top of the Adventure formula. Even Lost World in its own ways is just the Adventure formula taken in another direction. The bigger thing that has become different isn't the formula, but the physics and level design. If the stages were designed more like SA1 and SA2 stages with no 2D sections and the physics were built to improve on what the Adventure games were shooting for, the Boost formula would end up feeling like a natural progression of the Adventure games. Though, I do think Stomp and Bounce should be able to co-exist in Sonic's moveset, and Frontiers has proven the same can be true for Spindash and Boost. I think a decent way of going about it would be to do it as a middle ground between Adventure 2 and Generations. Stage design similar to the Adventure and Heroes era stages in Generations, but with no 2D sections and better on foot controls for when the player doesn't want to go fast such as for searching for and collecting moveset upgrades similar to the Adventure games. There's also a lot of potential in continuing to improve the Frontiers playstyle for hub worlds, though maybe tone down these hub areas being the "main" gameplay section and have these places mostly function as fun little movement playgrounds for the player to go from stage to stage in like a cross between Frontiers and Adventure 1.
@@Crow_Rising The Adventure games had a bigger emphasis on platforming and were a more faithful translation of the 2D games into 3D while the boost formula emphasises a more reaction based playstyle on the 3D sections with most of the platforming being saved for the 2D sections, the 3D sections feature way less platforming because Sonic's controls are not optimized for platforming in the boost games, being more optimized for gaining and mantaining high speeds. Imo it's not really the evolution of the adventure formula and is more of a departure entirely, being the main reason why other characters aren't even playable in most of the Boost era games, some of Sonic's moves had to be changed to accomodate for this type of gameplay, and just like the adventure games used the 2D games as reference, the Boost games used the Adventure games as reference, but went in a very different direction I still think these are pretty nice games, the Boost era games tend to be more polished and less janky than any other 3D Sonic games, but I still think Sonic's Gameplay was more engaging in the Adventure games and a polished version of that gameplay style would be way better than what we got with the boost formula imo. I don't know if they're gonna keep going with the Sonic Frontiers style, which seems to be a combination of both the Adventure and Boost formulas, tho I haven't played it yet, it looks interesting but I feel like the gama should've stayed in the oven for longer.

I’ve long thought that graphical improvements in games have stagnated but RTX continues to impress me. Makes everything feel fresh and seems to work with a lot of art styles. Cool stuff.

I like it, but I can't help but feel the global lighting is a bit too samy or almost volumetric, like it spreads/ bleeds into everything in an uncanny way. Also dark spots are completelt dark, I'm sure that wasn't the devs' idea. There would need to be some light sources. Also some effects leave a semi baked light for a while after they're gone.
That looks pretty good! I had seen an RTX mod before and it seemed to make the ground really shinny, like it was wet, regardless of it made sense or not and I didn't think it looked very good. But again, this looks a lot better.
Very cool, emerald coast looks great! Speed Highway is so dark it's hard to see the raytracing do any work though, it would need someone to redo the lighting composition to make important pieces pop yet maintain the late night vibe.
This is a great visual upgrade without damaging the original artwork of the game, which most mods fall into that trap of trying to improve what already is perfect

Dude, I’m surprised you’re even recording at all and the game is running decently honestly! I’ve run Mario 64 with retracing and I barely get 30 FPS and that’s with like six lights max and the lowest resolution
I see all these sonic adventure remakes on here that are just generations mods and such, but this honestly as a sonic fan is all I want. Sonic Adventure but with more updated lighting and some graphic improvements to at least pass it off as a “remake” and not just another generations mod

The end of speed highway through me off. It's lighting looks like it's about dusk, but I always saw that part of the stage as being shortly after dawn (given the cooler colors and how the rest of the stage was night).
I'm usually not a guy for graphics like it usually doesn't have any effect on whether I buy a game or not but when it enhances the experience of the universes I play and love like Sonic the little things just make it that much better. It makes me sort of more immersed. But also I do love just seeing old graphics it pleases me with nostalgia and all that and plus there are universes out there where that's how reality "looks"
Ah, this is exactly how the game looks in one of my memories. I distinctly remember coming home from the beach as a young child in 2001, and while still lightly coated in salt and sand, popping on SA1 on the Dreamcast to extend the beach vibes in emerald coast. It looked basically identical to the beach I just came from to my kid brain

It looks pretty good. Some of the lighter stages look a bit washed out, some of the lighter colored textures look too pastel like but other than that it’s a good start.
it's funny because it looks amazing on emerald coast but pretty terrible on speed highway because of the way the lighting works in the game; emerald coast is all direct bright light, but speed highway has so few light sources that switching over to accurate lighting makes everything look dull and dim
It’s more to do with how badly UA-cam compresses 1080p video for people with low sub counts. People with higher sub counts get better compression, but it’s only viewable for people with UA-cam Premium, which is really stupid. It’s why I upload all my videos in 1440p, which has better quality imo
@@Sonicfans1 Actually afaik the compression has to do with video age and view count. It's so UA-cam can save server space without deleting millions of videos. The older and less viewed your video is, the more likely the algorithm will compress it. This video seems to be doing pretty well for it's age so I doubt the video's been compressed and it likely won't be for at least a few years. Take videos like Coppercab's "Gingers do have souls" for example. That video has barely been compressed over the years because it has millions of views. It also went viral when it initially came out, so it was always fairly safe from the compression algorithm.
i honestly love this mod. hoping for updates that make it run more smoothly. i dont know what graphics card you have but i have a rtx 4060 ti and it jitters from 40 to 60 fps on medium settings. when i play things like portal rtx that also uses rtx remix it runs way smoother and consistently on higher settings.
This looks great any RTX card? Or Nvidia is a must? I have an RX 6950 XT? I think that using upscalers and frame generators should be the goto when dealing with such graphical overhaul.
I usually think that raytracing that's simply slapped on top of a preexisting game kinda ruins the original's artstyle, but this one actually looks pretty nice. Still needs some reworking in some places where there's so little light that it's hard to tell what's happening tho. I also wonder just how much of this could have been done via pre-calculated "baked" lighting similar to the one done for Unleashed, a surprising number of those light sources don't move so it's not like those need to be done in real time.
Dang, there was this HD texture pack uploaded years ago that updated the stage PVM's while not overdoing it. It's a pity I can't find the video anymore... would go nice with this mod.
This makes me wonder how it'd look with the Dreamcast conversion graphics. I know the original Dreamcast lightning isn't possible without an emulator, but I'm curious nonetheless.

The games graphics holds up surprisingly well with better lighting. It really shows how important lighting truly is to a games visuals.

This video seems to be doing pretty well for it's age so I doubt the video's been compressed and it likely won't be for at least a few years.
Take videos like Coppercab's "Gingers do have souls" for example. That video has barely been compressed over the years because it has millions of views. It also went viral when it initially came out, so it was always fairly safe from the compression algorithm.
i honestly love this mod. hoping for updates that make it run more smoothly. i dont know what graphics card you have but i have a rtx 4060 ti and it jitters from 40 to 60 fps on medium settings. when i play things like portal rtx that also uses rtx remix it runs way smoother and consistently on higher settings.

This looks great any RTX card? Or Nvidia is a must? I have an RX 6950 XT? I think that using upscalers and frame generators should be the goto when dealing with such graphical overhaul.

I usually think that raytracing that's simply slapped on top of a preexisting game kinda ruins the original's artstyle, but this one actually looks pretty nice. Still needs some reworking in some places where there's so little light that it's hard to tell what's happening tho. I also wonder just how much of this could have been done via pre-calculated "baked" lighting similar to the one done for Unleashed, a surprising number of those light sources don't move so it's not like those need to be done in real time.
Dang, there was this HD texture pack uploaded years ago that updated the stage PVM's while not overdoing it. It's a pity I can't find the video anymore... would go nice with this mod.

This makes me wonder how it'd look with the Dreamcast conversion graphics. I know the original Dreamcast lightning isn't possible without an emulator, but I'm curious nonetheless.
That mod is required for the mod to look the best, but don't use the lantern engine, as it breaks the visuals
