The lioness just didn't have the heart of a lion that day, she had the heart of a mother.
Cats play with and delay eating their food..
or the hormones of a mother, because she may have recently given birth to her own offspring and her motherly instincts still resonated. It's happened before, may have happened here, but it's more unlikely here since the lioness did seem to be hunting.
@@ChannelingByChantal recall that this is a big cat, a lioness, but yes, it may have been a situation of the lioness already being full and simply toying with the calf, the only reason to it charging after the calf may have been predatorial instinct.

Wow it’s fascinating to see her conflicted between eating, smelling the fluid and being compelled to mother the calf. Motherly love wins in the end. Beautiful to see the wildebeest was reunited. What a beautiful miracle this one is
You should watch some other videos then. This was pure luck. A predator, mother or no, won’t hesitate to eat a newborn prey animal.

Wow, that lioness was clearly hunting but seemed conflicted about killing the calf. Then when it started to nuzzle her in an act of confusion & helplessness, she seemed to warm completely. My guess is her maternal instincts overpowered her hunting instincts when she recognized it was a baby. Incredible video, I’ve never seen anything like that. Thanks for sharing!

@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodl6206well as seen in the video, the way she treated the baby animal (whatever that animal is😅) ..
Everyone knows how glorified symbols male lions are for the tufts of fur around their necks, but there’s something deeply maternal about a lioness.
Fierce yet delicate. Unwavering and cautious.. yet so bold.
The very backbone of the pride.
They have even been known to nurse other species and will fight till their last breath to save their offspring.
For that, they deserve their own title of recognition.
I think you'll find the backbone of the pride is the male.
@@yehldyehld Well, in Lion prides females are the primary the hunters and providers. They are also better hunters than their male counterparts. Males are stronger and bigger but they usually protect cubs and their territory from threats, and rarely go hunting. Both are essential for the pride, but it is the Lioness, the queen of the Savanna, who provides.
@Judybee what???
Yesss the queen of the jungle❤
Male lions hunt all the time dude. What do you think they do when they spend months patrolling the territory? Just starve? Or how about the years they spend as nomads? Male lions are great hunters. But in a pride they have a different role that they take on.

In the Disney movie the Lioness has an affair with the wildebeest’s husband. They get into a feud, and so the lion adopts the baby wildebeest out of spite. The mama wildebeest becomes a sorcerer & sings a song about how dark & mysterious the world can be. Credits roll and we all go home

The glory goes to the lioness here. This shows how royal these beasts we call lions are.
