The music is from an expo he did, depicting the eventual destiny of man is to blend himself and make man, machine and nature all one technology in a symbiotic relationship. They all become one in the future-- a likely outcome of evolution.
Mezame No Hakobune - Imax event. brilliant surreal presentation. Another best thing about this is the director if the event - Mamoru Oshii, the director the GITS anime movies.
I just want to thank kenji kawai and all the other people that work to make this. I know that they are not reading this but guys thank you from the bottom of my heart, soo many emotions that i just can't explain.
@@d.a.g.c961 indeed Kenji Kawai himself once said on an interview that his first idea was from Bulgarian choir, but due to some technical issues (the Bulgarian folk choir doesn't sing by music score hence they were unable to execute what he composed), and before this Kenji Kawai collaborated with Nishida Kazue Shachu (aka the Japanese folk choir here) on the scores for _Wild Knights Gulkeeva_ , so he thought of reinviting them back to work on his compositions for GitS as well. Hence explained why the vocal harmonies sound like Bulgarian folk choir, and in fact in traditional Japanese folk choir it does not have vocal harmony as such. Also the idea of the scores being sung in archaic Japanese was actually from the director Oshii Mamoru himself.
I've listened to many songs and have looked into many different genres. Out of all of them i'd say there have been some big hit classics that I'd wholeheartedly consider masterpieces. Many a time I have looped them, but they have all gotten boring at some point. HYAKKIN has opened my consciousness to music that is beyond that limitation. I have been listening for over 2 months and still can not get enough of this masterpiece. The unfortunate downside to listening to this track, is no other music competes. It is just masterfully composed. The progression is wonderful, you get lost into this track, building your own worlds and exploring your imagination and consciousness is what this track was engineered for, it has to have been. I'm sure many here would agree. I need to listen to this smoking weed.
That, my friend, as I stated in my own comment on this song, is why I consider this song pure Art of the Heart. It is quite simply a masterpiece of Art, a masterpiece of music, and a masterpiece of spirit and life in general. Absolutely perfect.👍
10 years and no one uploaded the romaji lyrics on google... Well I took the kanji I found on Japanese sites, but it was difficult figuring things out, mainly due to the ancient Japanese and lots of kanji and so on... also some of the singing was so fast! so there may be some slight errors. Someone probably done it in the comments but it's a lot of comments to go through haha! What a masterpiece of a soundtrack, now I get why NieR Automata ost reminded me of this, Okabe took some inspiration from Kenji Kawai for sure, both are damn good composers.
When I heard this music for the frost time It was very deep in the night, I had my headphones on and was looking for music to relax... IDK how I bumped into this wonderful piece of music. But I was with my eyes closed and imagined a whole story for it. I imagined of a choir of winged women dressed on kimonos chanting and sanding a story, floating on the sky, with a nice forest background... then, it became so vivid that It was like being in a 3d virtual reality game and the women disappeared... I do not understand japanese but I pictured a person looking for something running and flying through forests, rainforest, deserts and seas then I became him, on first person... then at the 2:46 part I pictured myself (him) in front of me and slowed down.. and I was covered with vantages which started to fell down as I feel down on my knees, and flowers and grass started to die... then an 3:37 a stream of melancholy washed me and I stood up and started to look around. Then at 4:30 I started to run again, crying to find it. Then at 5:11 I saw a silhouette and ran even faster, trying to reach it but at 5:53 it vanished, and I fell down.. sad, almost dying and everything became black but at 6:15 I raised my eyes and it was him... and I knew he was someone I was very fond of... and that I finally found him again, and hugged and kissed him and cried along with him on happiness... flashes of sensation memories invaded me with happiness... finally at 7:40 everything started to vanish and the winged women reappeared on the scene and then lights went off as they bowed.

Absolutely amazing music ,just beautiful . The man is a genius. Thank you Ghost in the Shell for getting me into this man music and thanks for the upload so much .
I got a feeling as if this piece of music also compressed the styles of music Kenji Kawai has composed during his years into one song. The beginning reminded me of 90's production, middle part was as if it was from 2007 and so on :)
I suppose HYAKKIN is the paean to All of life, and the Nature. HYAKKIN means 100-kind-bird, so all of warm-blooded and winged creature. MEZAME no HAKOBUNE means "the ark of arousal" Most of Japanese gods and goddess are Elemental exists in the mountains, the sea, the river, the old trees, etc...in our paganism. there're sadness torning apart from ancient world where All of creater and elements live side-by-side, nostalsia, awe of nature, and faith in this lyric. Never for funeral.
Legendary composition, it's a shame wasn't used in Ghost in the Shell. Kenji Kawai genius. On Sennheiser Orpheus this fabulous orchestra music blow my mind. Great sound quality.
Sheng-Yi Lin Honestly, I take it i as a call to further industrialization, further technological progress. We can't develop sentient AI while scrounging around in the dirt.
+The Crimson Fucker: What a technological utopist your comment was. Kenji Kawai's music has been thematically consistent in that technological change could improve human's condition in one aspect, but disrupt the human's life in every other aspect. Industrialization & tech progress do not necessarily brings improvement to most mankind's life, only 10% of it. This is even acknowledged by economists in the 50s such as Lewis. Tech =/= progress. Kenji Kawai's music is produced in the 80s-90s when cyberpunk (high tech, low life) was the common mindset. You should bear that in mind when interpreting this music. It's not the age of disillusioned technological utopians dream of in this recent years.

@@aditxd1 This actually isn't for Ghost in the shell, its in the title. Mezame no Hakobune was a three act muscial drama animation short from 2005, with its OST by Kenji Kawai.

HYAKKIN - Hundred Birds
O God
As birds chatter in the predawn darkness
Fallen clouds fly all over the world
They never hold their long life dear
And they wander in this long night
A storm blows clouds in the sky
Now, at this night of awe,
It is time to depart from the past
Even though it rains, birds shall sing
And even though wind blows, flowers shall bloom
On a clear moonlit night
They move up to heaven where haze flows
And stand in awe
As a thunder god roars
Hundred birds come from heaven
Seeing sad farewells fly apart in this world
Birds feel sad about devastation
And deplore this suffering world
They look up God descended from heaven
And beg
And pray
As the Moon shines in the sky and clouds flow
God calms himself
How happy to hear songs of flying hundred birds
For ever
God invites them to a border of his kingdom
Dawn breaks
And an ode to joy of million gods
Will sound
(I think HYAKKIN may be a funeral song)

Love this track. Listen to it for working, relaxing, passing time there's a bit of everythin in it
В этом треке есть всё
A música toda é bastante poderosa, mas o inicio é tão maravilhoso e cheio de energia dos tambores!
Ótima composição!
People please comment. Don't let this masterpiece be forgotten
Kenji Kawai es un Maestro de la música. Impresionante pieza.
Jorge Díaz Totalmente.
This feels as though we’re experiencing the expansion of a whole universe from a single spark. Just this outward rush of indescribable beauty.
언제 들어도 명곡이야..日本의 에니메이션 음악은 最高의 경지이지.. 작품 자체야 말할것도 없고.. 다 듣고 아키라 ost들어야지..
Kawai Kenji / Oshii Mamoru = Two living gods. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece.
This made me from 11 years ago magically return for an instance. Music is power
I like Kenji Kawai's backgrounds music making since Patlabor animation series... I can't wait to watch the Ghost in the Shell the movie next year!!!!
この世の真理のような歌詞だ。
10 years and no one uploaded the romaji lyrics on google... Well I took the kanji I found on Japanese sites, but it was difficult figuring things out, mainly due to the ancient Japanese and lots of kanji and so on... also some of the singing was so fast! so there may be some slight errors. Someone probably done it in the comments but it's a lot of comments to go through haha!

What a masterpiece of a soundtrack, now I get why NieR Automata ost reminded me of this, Okabe took some inspiration from Kenji Kawai for sure, both are damn good composers.
Excelente arreglo musical gracias por existir Kenji Kawai
これがオリンピックで流れたらなぁ…
本当です、私はドラムで中国のこのオープニングを考えていました
Then at 5:11 I saw a silhouette and ran even faster, trying to reach it but at 5:53 it vanished, and I fell down.. sad, almost dying and everything became black but at 6:15 I raised my eyes and it was him... and I knew he was someone I was very fond of... and that I finally found him again, and hugged and kissed him and cried along with him on happiness... flashes of sensation memories invaded me with happiness... finally at 7:40 everything started to vanish and the winged women reappeared on the scene and then lights went off as they bowed.
crack is one hell of a drug
I smoke cannabis regularly and regularly fill in scenery for this music and Torukia
this, kids, is why you should do drugs.

Absolutely amazing music ,just beautiful . The man is a genius.
Thank you Ghost in the Shell for getting me into this man music and thanks for the upload so much .
This is pure Art.
Evergreen. thank you,Kenji Kawai, for this masterpiece
카와이 켄지 작곡가가 다시 이런 류의 음악을 만들어 줬으면 좋겠다.

This is amazing. Kenji Kawai is a true genius
日本人に生まれて良かったと感じさせてくれる曲
It feels like this song is trying to show us the soul of the universe.
Arigato Kawai San.
The chorus is magical.
I got a feeling as if this piece of music also compressed the styles of music Kenji Kawai has composed during his years into one song. The beginning reminded me of 90's production, middle part was as if it was from 2007 and so on :)
No encontré palabras para describir ésta maravilla, me he vuelto adicto a Ella.
I suppose HYAKKIN is the paean to All of life, and the Nature.
HYAKKIN means 100-kind-bird, so all of warm-blooded and winged creature.
MEZAME no HAKOBUNE means "the ark of arousal"
Most of Japanese gods and goddess are Elemental exists in the mountains, the sea, the river, the old trees, etc...in our paganism.
there're sadness torning apart from ancient world where All of creater and elements live side-by-side, nostalsia, awe of nature, and faith in this lyric.
Never for funeral.
Legendary composition, it's a shame wasn't used in Ghost in the Shell. Kenji Kawai genius. On Sennheiser Orpheus this fabulous orchestra music blow my mind. Great sound quality.
This.song.is.everything.
oh yes
Each time listening this song, I feel overwhelmed. And that's damn good.

@@The_Crimson_Fucker Why would any dumbass want to create sentient AI.
This part sounds - in my opinion - a lot like the music in Hayao Miyazaki films.

And godamnn is this music awesome. Like... Ugh it's fucking awesome.. Unable to put it into words
My mother let go of stories first. For the lack of a better description, she is awake. But without the same level of training and knowledge as me, she has been doing it on her own for years. My mother is the engine of our family. Without her we are nothing. ☺ Love to my mother. ☺
I didnt know he made more music like this other than for ghost in the shell. This is the fucking best.
but this is for ghost in the shell tho
yup... i have no idea what i was talking about.
@@aditxd1 This actually isn't for Ghost in the shell, its in the title. Mezame no Hakobune was a three act muscial drama animation short from 2005, with its OST by Kenji Kawai.
