The spirits of twin Gods in the heaven is to tremble and to be wild. The wind of gods(Kamikaze) flows harshly, despite my heart is perishing in the air. Our heaven and ground is being shaken and made frenzy by gods' spirits The wind of gods flows harshly, despite my heart is perishing in the air. All living things pledge when they are born. All living things compete with others and lose their lives. Their lives perish. If it were never to dawn, from the darkness far away, I would pray for the harsh many gods. I'll pray for. I'll pray for.
Technically Kawai's music isn't any one genre, but I imagine looking into tradition Japanese folk songs would be a good place to start for this kind of thing.
the music he creates is chock-full of inspiration. this as well as the chants used in ghost in the shell and innocence draw inspiration from traditional shinto prayer and traditional hungarian choir, among others

I have remade the background score for Ghost in the Shell: Innocence. Please let me know your thoughts.

It’s traditional Bulgarian folk choir music
This track takes a minute to warm up, but it really kicks ass. I'm glad I listened to it! One of my favorites.
The way this composition hits you is just phenomenal.
Definitivamente es un manjar para el oído poder escuchar estos coros tan bellos y místicos
think this may be one of my favorite kenji kawai themes. so beautiful and chilling
Im endlessly in AWE over the Gits style music
2017, and there's still no music that affects me more than Kenji Kawai's compositions, especially the ones with this particular choir....
Sorry to disagree, in my opinion Hans Zimmer is in that same realm
both fruits, but apples and oranges.
Recently I came across the Nier Automata soundtrack and it's the first one that gives me the same emotions and shivers than the Ghost in the Shell one
look up Bulgarian folk singing... it is what inspired the Ghost in the Shell theme

All the pictures in my head when I listen to this. Such a beautiful score.
This is so beautiful!

He specifically mixed Japanese folksong with Bulgarian folk singing techniques

from Kairo (aka Pluse) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, i guess
If you are still interested, the picture is from the movie Avalon (2001) directed by Mamoru Oshii.
