just in case you ever come back to this game. I suggest you use your harpoon a LOT more. You seem to want to get out of your car every time you see people. every sniper you killed in the video you could have just harpooned(you can hit people directly with it. just aim at them, shoot it, and mouse 1 to rip them away, you dont need to drive away with them like you do to tear down buildings and walls). and once it is upgraded you can rip doors and wheels off cars while driving(and rip drivers out of the car as well) the only thing more OP than the harpoon is the rocket launcher you get pretty soon.

The artstyle of this game is absolutely phenomenal and completely overshadows every single postnuclear game I've played. Being attached to Fury Road IP you shouldnt expect anything less.
I swear, grinding in this game is somewhat tons of fun. Idk, I never enjoyed excessive grinding in open world games like the ubisoft open world games. But Mad Max....somehow always kept me wanting more.
i think it's this atmosphere and the driving. it feels unique enough to keep you going where other games don't give you interesting movement/cool reasons to keep going
Yeah, just playing as Max, driving around in your badass car, destroying anybody in the way, just feels so cool. Also, the combat feels so visceral especially after unlocking all the skills with the fury mode and all, all of it just blends together beautifully.
I love this game grinding is so fun I completed entire game twice, but if they added arena or something like that scrap collecting would be so much more fun, also it fits in the wasteland theme.
I primarily believe because it's due to the fact that almost EVERYTHING you do in this game contributes to forging the best car, making Max and the Magum Opus crazy strong towards the end. The whole game is a journey, so by the end you appreciate the beast of a car you put together.
I think it's because it feels like genuine scrounging and surviving where most of these sorts of games it's just there because...open world. It just feels more like something you HAVE to do here rather than something that's just there to give you map markers.
I've played through this game probably 5 or 6 times. Absolutely one of the best open world games. I also really liked the story, felt very Mad Max and not like something pretending to be Mad Max. It was simple but effective, with a bitter ending that put Max right back to where he was at the start. Also I feel like the best way to play is to only get a few of the fuel upgrades, so you constantly have to actually scavenge for fuel. You get all of the upgrades and suddenly you never have to worry about fuel again, which kinda takes away from the experience.
Ha, I did the same thing! Until I unlocked the Interceptor, at which point it was the only thing worth driving and that thing guzzles fuel like crazy, so you actually have to scavenge for it just like in the movie.
Mad Max is bloody awesome. Underrated game I feel like because during 2015 people were saying it was too long which it wasnt. The Fallout 4 hype must of overshadowed this game. I loved every minute and hour I played with this game and Good news too that the movies are back up and running after their court cases and whatnot. Hopefully we can get another Mad Max game again in the future too. Looking forward to the vid Jayvee. Awesome content

People were really sick of everything trying open world (and mostly with underwhelming results) combined with the fact that people assumed in was a tie-in game for Fury Road (which it certainly wasn't) that doomed this game

I definitely love that pretty much all the loot has to be TAKEN in true mad max form. Everything has been scavenged or inhabited. If people didn’t live to come back to their stash, then their stash might remain. But good things aren’t just lying around.
"Crunchy combat" - jayvee Weird how overlooked this game has been. I finally got around to playing Mad Max like last year and it's definitely one of those enjoyable underrated games. I think the melee is really what made me fall in love with it. The visual flash and the audio really give that "impact" for hits and collisions, with vehicles as well.
The atmosphere is great. In the night with some lights in the distance, it is like a surreal experience. And graphics are nearly photo-real when Driving, but suffering in close when on foot tho.
Two things about this game: 1- It doesn't have a soundtrack, but it's so good that you don't even notice it; 2- If you press the up arrow twice inside the car you drive in first person (I only discovered this when I finished the game).
The only bad thing I can say about this game is "story", but the gameplay itself was so satisfying I didn't much care. Playing this was the closest I came to a completionist run of any modern game. Excellent, visceral sound design and the combat either in car or on foot is just an all around blast. The game world, even though sparsely populated was so gorgeous I wanted to explore all of it(except the dunes, that was a slog).
It's a fantastic game with absolutely brutal combat! The driving is fun and you really feel like you're making Max more Mad, and more awesome as you go on! Very glad that you're playing it!! :)
One of the few games I 100%'ed. Fun to grind, really rare. If you like this, give Rage 2 a try. The intro is a bit weak, but when you find basic powers etc. turns out to be a really fun game.
watched the very first movie a few nights ago and found out that I've actually been to the town at the start of the movie irl DOZENS of times AND I've done a lot of my driving lessons on the exact roads they filmed some of the other scenes on. I feel like I sinned not seeing the movie sooner, moving on to the second movie tomorrow!!
You are about to watch arguably the best one outta all of them. And one of the best low budget films of all time. This game pulls inspiration mainly from Road warrior and fury road and the comics. Excited for u man have fun watching
All I will add is. You can use the harpoon on enemies on the ground. You can than drag them behind you. Than hit harpoon button and they fly off. And the War Crier can be shoot with your sniper rifle from the car if you can see it. Or your shotgun. He will glow, if I remember right, and he will blow up! Such a great game. Simple fighting but has very Arkham style for sure. Would love to see you play more!
Probably one of the best "Soft" Ubi games. Simple but satisfying combat, large map with surprising variety considering it's exclusively desert wasteland, fun vehicle combat and a good sense of progression trough the game, the story is simple and meandering but fun enough and surprisingly well written and character focused, Chumbucket is a delight and unironically one of my favourite NPCs in the previous console generation. It can get really repetitive, especially considering clearing the map of objectives is a requirement for the best upgrades so nothing is exactly "optonal" but the moment to moment gameplay is varied and fun enough to make up for the otherwise repetitive objectives. It's a good game if you like to roam around a map causing chaos (I know I sure do) but won't change anyone's mind if they are already primed against open world "checklist" Soft Ubi games.
i loved completing every single task in strongholds, searching for project parts too. the driving model and feeling of making my car stronger was fantastic, every next engine ive unlocked had an amazing sound and it was so superb to hear pure power. overall the game is awesome, but the story is a little bit too short, for me 9,5/10
I was never into Fallout so I was way more interested in this game than most I feel when it first came out. I was into Fury Road a lot so I was just wanting some mindless fun in the Wasteland but this game has no right being THIS good. I was blown away by the detail and actual effort that went into a game most probably would think is a quick cheap movie tie in product. Why they chose to release it the SAME DAY as Fallout 4 I’ll never understand, it would’ve gotten good reception if people actually knew about it and just made it seem like the company didn’t have much faith in it which is a shame
If you think Allies in camps giving you scraps is cool you’ll probably be mind blown to know there are Allie faction strongholds that will give you scraps WHILE THE GAME IS OFF. Like you’ll load back into the game and it’ll pop up like “Strongholds have collected 800 scrap”
I remember this game and Metal Gear Solid V came out the same day. I got Metal Gear Solid, and man, was I disappointed. I picked up Mad Max a few months later at a huge discount, and I absolutely loved it!
This was the only game in recent memory that I actually got all the scrap locations. It was fun to hunt around for them and see how empty yet full of life the world is. Very underrated game and in my top 5 favs of all time
Enjoyed it more than the reviews did. I still have fun replaying it once or twice a year. Wish they came out with a sequel. Could’ve improved the minor issues people had with the first game.
Eagerly waiting for a sequel to this game. I absolutely loved it back in the day when it came out. One of those rare movie based games that is actually very good.
I bought it day one on PS4 back then but I couldn't take the 30fps gameplay so I stopped playing. I got recently a Xbox Series X and OMG this game runs up 120fps on boost mode with auto HDR looks fantastic!
I remember the first time I played this. The bleak, hopeless and wild landscapes with the savagery of the world left me feeling very peaceful. Just me, my car and my thoughts.
I’m so glad to see the love for this game. It’s just so good. The hand-to-hand combat is the best I’ve ever played. So much atmosphere. Absolutely fantastic voice acting. And that’s just the beginning.
I hate to use the term “ Ahead if it’s time “ usually but for this game I always made the exception, imo mad max still has one of the most unique open world dynamics even today. Shame that it more or less got eclipsed by fallout 4 and Arkham Knight back in 2015.
This, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated games ever made. The wasteland is what it should be. Combat is visceral and impactful. Driving is weighty without feeling slow or sluggish. Car combat is fantastic. Vehicles blow up in spectacular fashion. Just everything about it is so well done.
Batman Arkham Knight is a cool game, it's open world with lots of side missions, great combat, a good mix of stealth & full on combat, lots of gadgets to play with to help you, one cool thing is you can drive Bat Mobile in two modes (standard or armoured assault), and basically from anywhere that you can see street you can call car to come pick you up , and lots puzzles thrown in.
The funny thing about the game being so similar to Fury Road, is because it IS Fury Road, kind of. Fury Road was in development, cancellation and re-shooting for so long that there were heaps and heaps concept art and original story boarding done, some even being from the tie-in game that was supposed to go with the original Fury Road if I remember correctly. The game was basically stitched together from old concepts by the creators of the game without any input from George Miller
The only bad thing about this game is the sheer amount of mind numbing copy pasted busywork in each zone. Everything else was great about it, and when you fully upgraded your car you felt like a god
This game IS related to Fury Road. The main villain of the game is the son of Immortan Joe, the bad guy from the movie. This takes place after the events of the film.
The term you were looking for to describe the aesthetic of Mad Max is Diesel Punk. Movies like Mad Max and Water World were trend setters for the aesthetic.
I really enjoyed it when I played it years ago and everyone I've ever recommended to loved it. It's definitely repetitive and a major component of the game is just picking up scrap, but I found the game soooo satisfying. The driving battles are terrific and I found the hand to hand combat well done. I really don't know why it was only given average reviews upon its release.
Definitely underrated as others say, but I also understand why : it's repetitive, the map is huge with not many things to do, it tends to drag on near the end, and when it came out it felt like a dumbed down Arkham combat system ( yet it's brutal and you can really feel the weight of the attacks, and the weapon sounds are loud and satisfying ). It's still the best desert open world I've seen.
This game is an amazing, epic Mad Max game and I replay it every year or so. Everything is so satisfying....melee combat, car combat and explosion physics, the story and environments....Everything is just masterfully done. A classic.
One of my all time favourites, this game is a blast. Button Mashing, Good gameplay mechanics, Simple and easy to jump into, Open world that is interesting to explore, Decent Progression, Atmosphere, Art Style. The list can go on.
Man, I absolutely adore this game. Severely flawed in a lot of ways, but the one thing it set out to do, the car combat and driving, is absolutely PERFECT. Cruising around the world and busting shit up is just so purely satisfying, and it made for one of the best “pick up and play” sandboxes of its gen. IMO it’s the epitome of a flawed masterpiece. Super underrated game.
One of the best hand to hand combat games imo. At least one of the best that i've played. And the game is just fun to drive around and cause chaos. However it does feel kinda empty. But i guess thats just the world of mad max
Played this game a long while ago when I was still in high-school and really enjoyed it, now fresh outta my film degree and actually working with Mad Max's voice actor as a runner in his debut feature film! Life is weird.
Not only does this game look great for the time, it also RAN great at the time. The minimum requirements said I needed a 2GB GPU to run it, but I gambled and it ran at like 80fps (on low settings) on the 1GB Radeon HD6950 I had at the time. It was amazing.
What really hurt this amazing game was that it came out the same day as Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. I got both of them on release day but you know I played MGS5 first though.
I’m pretty new to this guys channel and I love his videos so far, I will most definitely continue to be a fan for many years to come. Does he ever do part two of any games or do enough parts to finish the entire game??? I really really hope he does but if not can we talk him into doing it or something?? 😩😩😏 let’s start a petition ?
Playing Rage 2 made me realize something...that the driving in that game is pure torture and that I should probably play Mad Max instead cause that game at least made me feel something and helped me during the time I was at the hospital cause it's quite a cool game honestly
Underrated AF! I bought it in 2019 then I dunno why I sold it after 1 week & I regret it, I bought it again still in 2019, took my time with the game, be patient & realise how great, fun & simple this game is, I LOVE IT!

Watching the epic sandstorm coming over the mountain towards you is such a spectacle. Amazing game
This is an underrated gem. Only played for a few hours but its much better than Ubisofts crap. Gotta beat this .
Glad you and gamerax are covering this game
Love the atmosphere on this one
it's a gem and so underrated for sure
Enjoyed it more than the reviews did. I still have fun replaying it once or twice a year. Wish they came out with a sequel. Could’ve improved the minor issues people had with the first game.
This is the only open world game where the emptiness is pretty much perfect.
Criminally underrated! Especially as a massive Fallout fan, it scratched the post apocalyptic itch that 76 doesn’t.
Very fun. Very underrated. I think why it was so overlooked is because it was released the same day as Metal Gear: Phantom Pain.
Such a bloody good game the combat felt so beefy and satisfying and the car mechanics were top tier
i love the fire, smoke and particles of this game
This game is an absolute masterpiece imo the story was actually mad Max style no happy endings and it truly focuses on that wasteland survival theme
I played this game when it came out and I’ve replayed it so many times since then. One of my favorite open world games.
A really cool Easter egg to Australia at 9:57 there’s the map of Australia on the wall in the background
Very underrated game. I've finished it twice, and though a bit repetitive, it's fun as hell!
7/10!
I remember the first time I played this. The bleak, hopeless and wild landscapes with the savagery of the world left me feeling very peaceful. Just me, my car and my thoughts.
glad to see you play this game. it’s definitely one of my all time favs
I’m so glad to see the love for this game. It’s just so good. The hand-to-hand combat is the best I’ve ever played. So much atmosphere. Absolutely fantastic voice acting. And that’s just the beginning.
Absolutely loved this game. Driving and combat are amongst the best of games but story us unluckily a little luster and short
This game absolutely slaps, its worth experiencing but especially so if you’re a mad max fan
Glad I didnt sleep on this game in 2015. Super underrated and its crazy to see so many people just wake up in the last few years lmao
I bought this game last year during the Holiday sale for $4.99. Best $5 I ever spent.
By far the best melee combat I've ever played. And they've combined it beautiful with the usage of your shotgun. Just everything feels right.
this game was Massively slept on, I'm glad to see it finally getting some recognition.
Just finished this game completely looting and comepleting onjectives and side quests. Very very fun to play
I don’t care what anyone says, I view this game as canon, especially after Furiosa.
22:18 ”Wonderfully chaotic” is a perfect description of this game.
Nobody believed me when I said this was one of the best open world games that came out that year. So good.
The sound effects in this game were sick.
He loved the engine noises and that was just the V6!
The V8 is awesome
I adore this game, one of my favorites of all time. Definitely deserves a sequel!!
Yea I just finished this game about a month ago... I really enjoyed it.. Story, Mechanics and gameplay top notch
One of the best hand to hand combat games imo. At least one of the best that i've played. And the game is just fun to drive around and cause chaos. However it does feel kinda empty. But i guess thats just the world of mad max
Hey man have you played sleeping dogs ? The hand to hand combat is badass too 🔥
Mad Max, ce jeu est tellement bon ! Et sous côté, j’ai adoré ce jeu et j’ai fait les 100%. Il est top, merci de donner un peu de visibilité au jeu 😎
Lol this is Shadow of Mordor with a Mad Max skin over it lol. That's a game you should definitely play if you haven't, it's phenomenal.
and still looks pretty good for a game that came out 9 years ago
The genre of this game/franchise is called “Diesel Punk” if anyone is wondering
Played this game a long while ago when I was still in high-school and really enjoyed it, now fresh outta my film degree and actually working with Mad Max's voice actor as a runner in his debut feature film! Life is weird.
Mad max is one of those games that would deserve a living mod community... oh the lost potential
This is one of my all time favorite games,I grew up with this game it soooooooo awesome!!! (love your content keep up the great work)
Yeah I picked it up for like $5 a little bit ago and I'm loving it, well over 50 hrs playing it so far
Not only does this game look great for the time, it also RAN great at the time. The minimum requirements said I needed a 2GB GPU to run it, but I gambled and it ran at like 80fps (on low settings) on the 1GB Radeon HD6950 I had at the time. It was amazing.
this is one of the few games i have finished multiple times, just awesome
I remember getting this game as soon as it came out, felt like such a badass doing stunts with your car and blowing up bandits was so cinematic
What really hurt this amazing game was that it came out the same day as Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. I got both of them on release day but you know I played MGS5 first though.
i 100% completed this game ... i love it
I’m pretty new to this guys channel and I love his videos so far, I will most definitely continue to be a fan for many years to come. Does he ever do part two of any games or do enough parts to finish the entire game??? I really really hope he does but if not can we talk him into doing it or something?? 😩😩😏 let’s start a petition ?
Pulling drivers out of cars with the harpoon, and one-shotting the gas tanks with the shotgun are awesome.
The game is such a hidden gem lol I’m so glad that people years later are seeing that now lol
Lovin it on Series X. The fps boost makes it even better!
I’m replaying it now and I forgot how good this game was heavily underrated imo
I’m glad this game is finally starting to get the credence it deserve.
I love how true this game is to the mad max lore.
