  • I restored this mandolin for my goddaughter, and had to test it out with the ultimate mandolin piece.

From someone who's not very musical except from playing things like the Kalimba 1 string banjo from gourd and bongo drums and little bit of piano do you think the mandolin would be fairly easy to learn a few keys I love to play renaissance music and that type of genre and it's always fun to pick some blues. The mandolin just look less intimidating then my guitar for me personally. Thanks for any feedback hope you have an awesome weekend from your friend in South Jersey🙋🏻🐕

Sundry Girl any stringed instrument you’re going to learn will take practice, so that’s the number one concern going into it. Yes I’ve found that the fewer strings, the quicker students progress at the beginning, but at a certain point, they all get pretty difficult, for instance, I just had a 6 string ukulele built for me because it actually makes difficult music easier to adapt to ukulele! But yes, at the beginning stages, the mandolin is a good instrument to get going on because there is a lot of documentation already out there on it, much of it for free, and finding an instructor isn’t too hard. For a true Renaissance experience, there are many versions of lutes available out there, but I know very little about them. Other than they look cool :-) .
