The trials of building. Shortly after this video dropped he was flying off the test hours when the engine let go. He landed safely and was involved in a new engine the last I heard from him.
Excellent video! I really appreciate you telling us some of the difficulties in the build process. These things aren't easy! It would be nice to hear how you feel about flying the place. The engine sounds great. I imagine the plane flys well. A follow up video would be nice!
The Fly Baby is a great airplane for its niche. The Corvair conversion is also. But this is the second Corvair powered Fly Baby I've seen online, yet neither one has flown that I know of. Wonder why? So here we are six months later. Has he flown it yet???
Winter in Michigan kinda slows things down for people with no canopy. As I understand it, the sign off got handled last fall and Bill is planning on getting after the test program as soon as the weather gets decent there in Empire. I'm sure he will let me know when that happens.
WOW ,😮 a true labor of love .

Glad you enjoyed it!
20 years is a heck of a commitment. By the looks of the plane it was worth it.
Bill is a bit of a perfectionist. Believes in doing everything himself.
Super cool! looks great. Engine sounds healthy too, I bet it'll move that little airplane right along.
It's cool enough alright and it was flying the last I knew.
Beautiful work
Thank you very much!
